Holy smokes. I think the entire BCHL reffing crew has tried to reach out to the staples of the local media regarding reffing. The refs are not biased, but lack experience and are making many mistakes that are avoidable with time. Stephen Walkon changed the NHL's hiring system for refs, and instead of looking for tenured officials at the Jr level and have them work their way up, they started recruiting former SPHL and ECHL players and they are being excited to the NHL way too quickly. I honestly can't tell you how many mistakes they make. They are regularly out of position or behind the play. We have former NHL refs in our group chat putting these guys on blast.
With the issue really well known in internal circles, I am perplexed the legacy media is once again ignoring a fairly critical issue. It's just the Colin Campbell leaked emails all over again. The media is friends with a lot of NHL higher ups and instead of acting like journalists and investigating an issue, they toe this imaginary line and consumers don't get why.
I'm getting pretty sick and tired of all the hate directed at Juulsen. Sure, he has made a few obvious and costly mistakes in a few games but his compete level, his physical play and his development curve are all better than any of the bottom 6 D they have, including Soucy. Nobody notices when he has a good game, like he did the other night with a pair of nice rubouts on the boards to end rushes and regain possession plus a pair of very sweet outlet passes.. nobody cares. They just want to crap all over him and I for one am tired of it. He belongs on the third pair or as the seventh defenceman whether you like it or not and it seems like both Tocchet and Foote agree.
has less penalties
