  • In the mountains of Wakayama Prefecture, Japan lies Mount Koya or Koyasan, a sacred town occupied by Buddhist monks. We ventured deep within the town to explore the area’s history and learn more about the esoteric Shingon Buddhism practiced there.

I am watching this from India and I want to come and visit every major shrine and monestry in Japan. These things are so peaceful to watch in screens and I can't imagine how much calm I would feel by being there.
Please make more videos like these 🙏❤️

I am quite involved with Tibetan Buddhism. So, I find tantric (esoteric) Buddhism from Japan and other countries also very intereisting. Although, you can't find it in many countries.

Thanks for this video. I follow the Soto Zen way, but I see now how Shingon teachings impact Zen!

I visited Koyasan after completing the 88 temple pilgrimage in 2015; a beautiful place worthy of its world heritage status. I had briefly attended a Shingon temple as a child, and so when I started reciting the heart sutra twice at each temple, I felt like I had heard it somewhere before and it took me a while to realize how. The mantra indeed creates deep grooves in the heart and mind of those who hear and recite it. Namu daishi henjō kongō

@@samystarfish5056 there's a decent guidebook but it's not a journey to undertake lightly. I recommend you do a lot of research before you attempt it.

Stunning scenery …and very ambitious trip. I’ve been all over Algonquin , but I’m getting up there so I can longer make it into some of those deeper areas in the park ….takes for taking me along! 🍁 👋

Sitting cross-legged on the floor for 40 minutes sounds like heaven to me. My butt hurts from this world regardless. May as well have some leave along the way.
How else are we supposed to SHARE peace, if we can't EXPERIENCE it?
I will be there one day sometime soon.
If I were to "die" before I find myself there, then that is where you will find me until the time to return. How can they create heaven on earth and expect us to want to leave?
