  • I am a civil engineer by training , and a entrepreneur by passion, at the moment I am in working in category management in Staples, i graduated from the university of Texas at Dallas in dec-2022 with my masters in supply chain and management ,I have over 5 years of work experience , first 18 months post my civil engineering was as in entrepreneur in in the same field as a sub-contractor for site erection and execution work and last 3.5 years prior to graduate school in Education loan financing, fintech operations, retail ecommerce supply chain management, inventory planning, last mile operations and driving category across multiple cities as a category manager, all of this in India in a past faced and a high pressure environment, and I am someone with a strong interest in entrepreneurship and supply chain in business that’s what motivated me to start my own stint as an entrepreneur straight out of engineering school and then my masters in supply chains and management.

    thanks broooooo.....i am just like you. i have no interest in coding even though i know there is good money in it and dream to break free of the 9-5 job and start some business of my own. What is your opinion of studying masters in supply chain in europe ? Isn't it easier to settle there or do you suggest me trying to study in the US itself ?

    • @Udaaaan
      @Udaaaan  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It won’t be easier to settle anywhere once we leave our motherland till me start me good amount of money, that is for sure.
      Plus missing home can be really quite a big thing.
      I don’t have much idea regarding Europe try to connect with few alums from your field working in Europe and see if they can give you some real insight.
      For USA, if you going through the channel of education loan for masters, then come with a mindset of giving it all in for next 2 - 3 years and you won’t regret it, market is very tough right now.

    Hey there can you please mention some of the skills one should have to consider a future in SCM

    • @Udaaaan
      @Udaaaan  ปีที่แล้ว

      For now if someone know basic stuff like -
      1. Super Basic Excel Skill( which can be learnt in 1 -2 day )
      2. Effective communication
      And is a undergrad, they can start out to seek roles in Inventory planning, logistics, procurement to start.
      a major part of roles will be highly data invested too for which ability to run queries through SQL would be preferred and also having understudying of python and advance level excel.
      These would be the two skills which can sort out alot of things initially for a entry level role and ultimately as you grow in career you can hone a lot of relevant skills basis what you actually feel like doing in supply chain.
      FYI - more technically sound you are, it can help you to kick start your career and being paid handsomely too, but it’s not at all required for a lot of roles too!
      If you are someone trying to figure things out, mail me what you want to do career wise and I might be able to help you
      Mail your question and CV @ ankitkumar44881@gmail.com
      I might be able to help you better

    Any information would help. Thanks

    • @Udaaaan
      @Udaaaan  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey Karan,
      Three recommendations-
      I am no expert myself, in your case scm is completely different in oil and gas and much more complex than compared to retail. In your case I will highly recommend a 1 year mba from college like ISB Hyderabad campus and then 1 or 2 year in consulting in scm focused vertical and you will be all set for the life.
      All of this is easier said then done.
      Another way can be upskilling in oil and gas field, for this I will highly recommend rewatching out to leaders who are already doing good in your field and have similar academic or professional journey as yours.
      Try to think about a problem in SCM and try to build something of your own.

    Im computer science graduate having 1.7 years of coding and software Engineer experience.
    Honestly telling i have interest in coding but not that much , means i can't able to seat and code whole day.
    I thought that mba will be the good option then i got to know supply chain management career has existed. Willing to grab this career opportunity with my coding knowledge and communication skills, shall i opt for this career?
    What are the future growth and salary. When i compare to IT industry i got demotivated. Can you tell me exactly what it is.

    • @Udaaaan
      @Udaaaan  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Tejaswini,
      You have solid experience to start with, I would say go for an executive mba from tier 1 college like MIT. Don’t settle for anything less as it won’t be worth while if you start with a basic college in USA. As the struggle is real and you might not be able to leverage your work experience and knowledge the way you could have.
      You should even think of a startup if you want to do a complete Tapasya for next 2 years and use your mba budget on it :):)
      Seeing your experience that won’t be a bad choice too

      So I will recommend if possible explore other options also like seeing you are a fresher try for northeastern university in the USA. They have great Co-op program which help student to get a internship for 6 month

    • @Udaaaan

      Great, congratulations on your admit. With 50 percent scholarship it’s a good deal for you to seriously think about utd. However it depends on your other admits as well, in UTD you will se a lot of freshers and folks with less than 1 years of experience so in terms of networking I won’t say it’s the best option but yes Richardson is a alright place to live in. Overall the vibe is Dallas is sad.
      But with your experience you should be able to grab good internship and that’s the key to ultimate good life in the USA doesn’t matter how bad or good utd is, university only matters to a point until it’s MIT / Harvard types.
