Love living vicariously through your adventure videos. An very envious of you. 😜
Love the pink hair 😍
Thank you! ☺️ New Zealand is a pretty cool place
What a beautyful section! 😊
I agree on filming for yourself and your own memories. I'm glad I made the video's of my journey to Santiago de Compostela. It's sure better than just having just a few pictures! 😊
I also enjoy being by myself, but walking with others does add to the experience.
I was wondering, since you were walking like dwarfs, did you also sing? 🤣😂
Good creative alternative plan to cross the river!
You must be quite a ways up now! 😊
The highest spot on the trail doesn't seem very high...
Have a great day/night on trail! Kaat
Yes! These are so fun to go back to a few years later to reminisce:)
And sadly no singing! Haha
The high point on this trail is surprisingly not very high at all
Miss New Zealand so much when I watch this ❤❤❤
I can imagine! It’s a beautiful place!
Thank you so much for showing us this beautiful part of NZ. You videos inspire us older locals to get out and see these bits of NZ.
Glad you enjoyed it! There’s so much tramping to do over here!
Oh to be 20 years younger. I watched the crazy people riding north to south on TH-cam. Google Joe nation

Great video. I feel like that part about being experienced and knowing your pace and your place is really important to your entire experience and the why of doing it more than once.
Absolutely! It’s fun to see my growth as a backpacker for sure :)
Hi :D if you are still in nz there is a brand called skinnys and its a nicer sunscreen its made with out the water so you only need a pea sized amount so the small tubes are light for hiking, and its pretty widely available here too
Oh that’s good to know! I’ll have to keep an eye out for it next time!
I think this one was one of the most beautiful sections for me, really Nice to see it back from nobo perspective and looove your music choice, really fits the stunning and peaceful surrounding❤
Glad you enjoyed it! I loved it ☺️
brings back amazing memories.
So much fun hiking together! This was a beautiful section :)
Enjoying this journey. So well done.👏✨
Thank you! 🙏🏼
if you want an external mic when filming with your phone try wearing 1 of your ear pods which should have a mic in the bottom of it. The short distance you move away should still be within range. No extra battery or weight :)
I also found on the AT it helped with wind noise.
True! I do that sometimes and somehow completely slipped my mind haha. Thanks for the reminder!
@@LaurenRoerick lol yes I noticed in a scene further in but i'd already posted.
Hi Lauren, I love your videos...
Thank you!! 🙏🏼
Your videos are so interesting and so well done.
Thank you very much! Glad you like them!
Hurray for you Turtle!
Haha thanks! 🙏🏼
So i was going to walk the hexatrek after your videos but now I've changed my mind and will go to New Zealand instead!
having been to NZ three times I cant help but wonder where are all the sand flies in your videos...
Haha! They are both excellent choices.
I think I got pretty lucky with sand flies overall- I’m guessing because it was so cold most of the time? There were only a few sections where they were really bad.
Wow, you are getting your trail legs.
Luckily had some leftover haha
Good to see you getting into your groove and enjoying the trail and all our NZ has to offer in terms of its beauty Lauren. Well done on reaching the high point of the TA. Does the PCT have vast landscapes like this anywhere on trail ??
Thank you! And yes it definitely does- the PCT has a many vast landscapes like this :)
*wow* i swear i could hear your heart beat sending algorithm sounds through to your shoes.crunch crunch crunch.
Guessing your blood pressure must be like the views.
Heart throbbing 😂
Thank you, Lauren .
Your pronunciation of Maori place names is fabulous 👌
Well done.
Also, the music, the editing , is just mind roaming brilliant👏 those ones up in heaven be smiling unconditionally.
Thanks so much! I’ve been trying my best with all the new words! Glad you’re enjoying the series ☺️
When did you start your NOBO journey? Would you recommend starting earlier or later than that? I was thinking of hiking Te Araroa NOBO starting in late November of this year, but that month isn't set in stone. Additionally, I was thinking of also doing the North West and Southern Circuit on Stewart Island. Did any of your tramily head down thataway? Thanks for the beautiful videos!
Thanks! I started at the end of January, which is quite late but just how it worked for me. I think late November is a great time to start!
I hear wonderful things about Stewart island and if you have the time I hear it’s worth it :)
@@LaurenRoerick Dope, best of luck in the rest of your journey.
edoras?
How many miles and altitude meters do you usually do per day or what would be a regularly feasible maximum?
On this trail I’m hiking about 25kms a day since the terrain is usually messy and slow going (but when it’s flatter or less of a slog I prefer to do 30-35). I like to keep the elevation gain under 2000M/day, just because then I’m not so tired to do it again the next day- but that’s just a personal preference and doesn’t always happen.
Wow! So you could do 30kms+ per day with 1500m up and down for 3 days in a row while carrying a 15-16kg pack (my guess with food and 2 liters of water)? WOW!💪🏼💪🏼👏👏👏 YOU are very well prepared for the 👑👑👑!!
Thank you ☺️ 🙏🏼
Haha😅, wrong country for this headline! Hike the NST, smoking weed in public is now legal in Germany (which makes me sad)!
Haha so true! Have they finally made it legal?!
