in a lot of scenes of curb there's two layers of comedy: the first layer, is the more obvious one, where the whole premise of this scene is larry being able to lead the dinner conversation, and he actually pulls it off. in other scenes it can be any other social norm or conformity being challenged. but the second layer to me, is funnier, and makes the whole think work, and that's the self deprecating layer, usually for both larry and jeff. here , you can see it with the prenup for larry, and the marriage advise for jeff. in many scenes larry constantly puts himself as the punch line, the puncing bag, ,victim of karma, whatever. it's the tension between larry being a smartass that challenges social norms, and larry being the but of the joke that make the show great/
It also lends the whole show an air of sympathy that really makes the character work. Let's face it, as much as we may like agreeing with his little observations, Larry can be a deeply unpleasant individual to be around, and coupled with his wealth and professional success it would be easy to find yourself rooting against him as he casually inconveniences everyone around him. But because he only ever loses every conflict, you find yourself much more forgiving of his antics, since they are at the end of the day impotent and self-defeating.
You’re good, you’re very good. 😂😂 that’s hilarious cause the underlaying joke is he can hold the convo cause he’s in the middle. Everybody can’t be in the middle
You don't get to be in a show like this unless you have real talent. There is nothing about his life that he has given up on. Anyway, tell us about you. What have you achieved in life?

Oh, man…. Did you see the look on Jeff’s face after Susie quotes Lang’s advice on them splitting? Expression of pure dread and foreboding.
In one episode Susie told Jeff in so many words if you even mention divorce I'll kill you.😁
If I was married to her I’d have a worse face. How and why did he ever marry her. I know he is fat and not good looking but come on.
Larry had that look like... you dirty ....

@@erikandersen3274excellent explanation. Being a Larry David is not easy and might lead to a lonely life if not tempered with some degree of respect.

Cheryl really went the whole Courtney Cox route with here "work," didn't she?
Such a shame.
Courtney Cox really dived bombed that shit, give Cheryl some lack, she still has a lovely bounce
To be fair, it was his fault for marrying her.
You don't get married when you're rich! Either she walks in as a gold digger or she leaves as one.
Is that in the Bible? Sounds wise
Did Richard Kind give up on life or is that part of his character?
