I was wondering that too and it can! You just need to custom set the size when in the sprite editor. I'm doing it for my floor tile, the bottom has a shadow so I made those sprites larger.
I’ve never drawn a tile map, but I’m about to try my hand on a top down one. Anything I would need to change if I were to use rule tile for drawing it in engine?
No the side view and top down can use the same formula. Nuclear throne uses a simple top down tilemap that is similar to the one I set up. You wont get tiny 1x1 grid spaces but thats fine for most games and if you really need it you can just draw it in manually with the tile sprites, it doesnt need the rule.

Milko booooy! Keep it up man! Can you maybe do a video about the dual-grid system? I saw recent video from "jess::codes" but i didn't figure that out.

Do you know if the rule tile can handle different size blocks, eg a cliff where all sides are 16x16 except the bottom which is 16x32?

Is it still a good idea to start a new project with unity? Or should I use Godot?
Unity is better than Godot by a lot. The Unity pricing thing did not happen. The Unity CEO stepped down.
