- Senegal, long considered one of Africa’s most stable nations, is entering a transformative era under President Bassirou Diomaye Faye. His ambitious 25-year development plan prioritises economic sovereignty, sustainable resource management, and local expertise.
At the forefront is Yassine Fall, Senegal’s foreign minister, an experienced economist and diplomat with a distinguished UN background. Fall faces the critical task of redefining Senegal’s global alliances, including the closure of French military bases, while maintaining key relationships.
In this interview, she discusses the challenges and opportunities of implementing the president’s vision, from reshaping diplomacy to fostering national self-determination.

She speaks English so fluently and french is their official language, she is a foreign minister material.
She is a former diplomat and has worked at the UN for several years. We are thrilled that she got involved to help Senegal emerge.

Good talk! Really appreciated the questions asked by the journalist. The Senegalese Foreign Minister provided diplomatic answers but fulfilled her role brilliantly. It feels like the whole world is eager to see Senegal overcome poverty. May God help this government, and those to come, achieve this dream and turn it into a strong foundation for combating inequality and ensuring 100% respect for human dignity across the globe 🙏.

Really good job, no Bias. That’s what I called real journalism
What a great woman. I'm so proud of you
Nothing gonna be like before. None will dictate us our path to take and we will never allow anyone to steal our resssources.
Oh yes!!! Nothing gonna be like before bro we re really sick and tired of corrupted politicians misleading the people and mesmerising with our resources.
I was very surprised by the last question, but she handled it very well. We have nothing against the French, we just want Senegal first.
Ahahaha segaleses are very smart and eloquent 😂
Well, the French are guilty and don't want to face it.
@maliksy7746, yes it's true, they don't want to but it will catchup with them one way or the other. Enough is enough.
And it goes for all of those colonizers.
That was a very good interview please do them more often from South African 🇿🇦
This lady is very informative, equipped with real diplomatic knowledge. Putting her in the ministerial cabinet would be a lot for her country. Let us see how the new government of the Sinigal carries out their programs that they want to transform Sinigal into a new version that paves a way for Sinigaleese people to a promising future. If their commitment comes true, Senegal will be a good example for other nations in Africa.
Good luck.
There is no country that can get everything right in the first 8months even an year.
The journalist is doing good job but he himself knew well enough even super power nation dont get successful projects within a year, things come right gradually on the road.
This lady is a blessing to Senegal, look how calmly she answer even when the journalist want to corner her to saying something out of the lane.
Congratulations Senegal u r on the good track; keep on making the New Senegal freed from its dark ages. Africa & Ethiopia in particular is looking at you, hope in you, & of course 'jealous' of u.

"Senegal is opened to partnership" very good like answer and good job.........
Proud of u my foreign minister Yacine Fall....
May Allah give you great success. Aamiin.
I just love the fact that madam is a mathematician. Therefore, deal with real numbers and be transparent. I have observed the same problems of moneys being missing in Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria, and South Africa. Please don't be afraid to renegotiate contracts. Partner with other African countries, eg. Let Dangote refine your oil into gas for Senegal. Stop speding unnecessarily importing from europeans. Do your best to be self-sufficient. NO MORE SELLING OUT
Yes I am hundred percent agree with you dealing each other is the best solution,we can solve our deficit trading balance without needs over Atlantic. Our intraregional market is so wide look all Ecowas more than all EU unified more than 500 millions people and 2030 it should be 1.2 billion people imagine how it is ? That’s why French looking new partenariaship with Nigeria and lusophone colonies
We should be first and then the rest you can buy the rest of the world without imposing conditions doing by the West
Indeed good point ❤@momarbadaraba4071
Don’t worry our president is gonna renegotiate al contract that the former president signed.

Thank you Mrs Fall for the wonderful response and I am happy to hear you saying that disagreement is healthy. Vive PASTEF vive Senegal vive Africa ❤❤❤.
Keep it up ❤❤❤❤Madam Minister... We are really proud of you
One thing I love with this new government is that they are all singing from the same hymn sheet. All the ministers talk about the same vision in every interview. There is obviously no deviation from what has been discussed at cabinet meetings.
Well don't you think that this is a good thing ? It means that they understand their assignment, and they've got the same vision which is a good point.
That’s a fact. And all of them has the same ambition for their country and that’s the chance
I love her honesty and transparency! Praying for the success of the new administration…. Much love from North Carolina USA!
What a shift in competency from this new government than last. I am proud of Sonko and Diomaye

Couldn’t be prouder!! Thanks Madame the minister , we’re really heading in the right direction , and almost the majority of the population is behind you and supporting for the “projet” to deliver
Wow! Excellent interview ❤
I am immensely proud of her. Everything she has articulated resonates deeply with the truth. The previous government significantly weakened our economy through corruption, mismanagement, and excessive budgeting . However, with the new government , I hold strong hope that Senegalese aspirations will be realized, allowing our nation to progress alongside others. Senegal is a country we cherish and are committed to fighting for❤️❤️.
Glad to see in recent years African leaders and people are becoming more and more conscious of things. Trying to take matters into their hands from earlier external and internal elements who harmed African people and national interests. This change can be seen in several countries now. Wish the continent a new dawn. I am Ashok Tankasala from Hyderabad in India, studied Africa from Jawaharlal nehru university of new Delhi.
Very high level.. thanks to all of you who believe in Senegal, who believe in Africa. We gonna develop this country we gonna pursue our own path ❤
BRILLIANT and POWERFUL interview, Madame Foreign Minister!!! She played no games and fell into no traps. Let the facts be known that Senegal “is not a colony.” Senegal is a sovereign nation with tremendous economic capability, a rich cultural base and a prosperous future. Ashe’!!!

This woman is definitely up to the task. I am really impressed with the way she addressed those questions. Clearly, PASTEF didn't make a mistake in assigning her to that role.
My minister keep it up
Asking if France is agreeing to leave a another country is outrageous. They don’t have to agree or be willing to. If the situation were reversed would that be a question. There is so much audacious sense to ask that question. Great job Ms Fall
