Honestly, this was one of my favorite scenes in the movie. Instead of building himself a massive palace and gloating over his victory, Thanos just peacefully retires to a humble cottage in some distant part of the universe, and smiles solemnly at the sunrise. Here is a guy who, in his mind, just delivered the entire universe salvation.
Khyle Christian De Rosales it was shot in the Philippines, yes, but pretty sure that was another planet, given there is a huge moon in the sky too big to be ours.

I love this scene, it doesn’t end on a line, “I am iron man”, “I had a date”, “what the fu-“. This is purely visual and conveys that Thanos really believes he did the right thing. You can tell by his face that he was justifying it to himself, and when he smiles, he did it. He won. The movie could have ended with Steve saying “oh god”, also realizing they lost and he won, but that would be telling us that, show don’t tell

Well, it is actually in the G Minor key, but at the end Silvestri applies a picardy third, which changes the chord to a G Major one and gives that great feeling of "yeah, he did it"
At the timestamp you mentioned, the violin plays a descending D, C, Bb over an Eb chord. I think the reason that measure is so powerful is because it calls back to the original _Avengers_ theme. Both pieces are in G minor, and _Avengers_ features that exact progression over that exact chord several times. But after each time, it either goes back up to D, or comes down to G and resolves in an open 5th. But in _Porch,_ it comes down to an A instead, with the viola playing the F#, firmly establishing it as a D major chord. _Avengers_ would never include this chord, and it serves to indicate that we've departed from what we knew, never to return. Not to mention the arco double bass playing a low D, to indicate the immense weight of the situation.
What a beautiful scene. A big purple alien warlord and the most powerful being in the universe sitting on the porch of a small wooden house by himself watching the sunset. Amazing ending.
The way this is composed is absolutely genius. The minor tone perfectly delivers what Thanos just did. The strings convey the heartbreak of watching your favorite characters die. Then right for the last note, we get the resolution in a major chord, which to me further solidifies that this is Thanos' movie. He smiles over the universe he brought salvation to. He finally completes his goal, and that last tone switch from sad for the Avengers to triumphant for Thanos is brilliant.

Just now realized that half of the orchestra is missing from this track (all I hear is strings and a bit of percussion; woodwinds and brass are missing) since this is the scene just after the snap. Alan Silvestri is a genius.
I notice not just the strings - plus a little timpani in the background - but listen to the string bass. It’s present in the first third or so of the music, then effectively drops out as the cello, viola, and violin start to move and flow more. While it’s doing quiet things here and there, it’s only on the closing note that the string bass really returns.

Do you guys think the planet that thanos stays on is gamora's homeworld? Thanos said that her homeworld has become so peaceful since the he wipe out half of the planet and it could be thanos way of mourning his favorite daughter's death. Just my little theory
While watching this very last scene, this made me realized that Thanos is actually more of a sad character than a hated villain. His tragic history really affected his motivations so that's why he got bad and evil. He just wanted to deserve what he wanted to get, and now it's here, watching the sunset and smiled like he's an innocent being. Kudos to Josh Brolin's performance in the movie, and the movie itself.
i think after living 1000 years he gained a certain level of knowledge that allows him to factor out all who would die but more so realize how many he’s saving from suffering
AJcaraballo95 that's probably as close to cussing as Cap's gonna get. The moment he saw the hole in Vision's head, the enormity of what happened hit him like a truck and he couldn't process.
The ending of this film was amazing. It finished quietly and left us with nothing, which kind of puts the audience in the shoes of the remaining heroes at the end of the movie who are left with nothing but bitterness.
Feänor Evenstar I agree that his intentions weren’t necessarily evil, but I wouldn’t classify him as a hero. His solution to balancing the universe took away lives unjustified, even if at random. Thanos is probably my second favourite character ever. Amazing personality & amazing leadership. But to call him a hero for the chaos he caused is a stretch ...
Feänor Evenstar But he caused a lot destruction to earth, what mercy was shown there? Wakanda was fruitful in terms of nature and Thanos destroyed a large amount of it.
Just pointing out that they used this track (obviously) when thanos “watched the sunset on a grateful universe”. But also.... Spoiler warning It played again when thor exited the house after decapitating thanos. Thanos’ last words being “maybe i was too harsh on you” to nebula. HEARTBREAKING
@@rangopistacho6928 I wouldn't call Thanos evil. Everyone is the hero of their own story. Just as he is/was. He wanted to bring peace to the entire universe. For him, the end justified the means.
@@redeadbone9007 Past Thanos had not gone through his twisted "hero's journey" like IW Thanos. Because of this, he was less of a character, and more of his warlord position he had been years prior. Even then, like he said, it was never personal until endgame. Death was random on each planet takeover, and he based his actions on the fact that his whole world died for a reason that also could plague all life in the universe someday. Nobody is arguing that his actions are morally right or that he didn't do anything wrong. They are saying that calling him "evil" doesn't work as it is not that simple. To him, his goals and actions are something bigger than himself or anybody else. He even accepted his own death if it meant completing his goal. Thanos is doing the wrong things for the right reasons, as the previous comment said. "Shocked and Awe" at it's most poignant, as the surviving heroes were helpless to save countless lives, while Thanos smiled at his achievement, at the cost of half of the universe

People keep saying that Thanos doesn't have a signature theme but they're wrong. "Porch" is his theme as is the entire soundtrack. This film was Thanos' film and what a film it is. What a beautiful and haunting piece of music.
Our hero sits with a sigh of relief. His quest complete but at a terrible cost as our hero was forced to sacrifice the one he loved most and yet through all of it he persevered, coming close to defeat several times but now he rests as he watches the dawn of a grateful universe.
Ultra Instinct Goku Black Now i see your profile image, reminds me something. Thanos remember a lot to Zamasu. A Guy who are desperate for his own justice who want to do the thing he thinks it's right. The difference it's this: Zamasu it's a Laughing Character to the end, who ended like a generic villain. Thanos don't.
This music made me: 1.Feel sad for Thanos because he have sacrifice a lot. 2.Feel sad for heroes because they just lose. 3.Make me happy for Thanos because despite all of the thing he lost,he won. 1 music can made me have different emotional and perspectives..I love this movie so much!!!
This soundtrack perfectly encompasses Thanos after the infinity war. Though a villain, he still has feelings. He is badly wounded in the chest, heart and left hand. Emotionally scarred after losing his daughter Gamora and several of his faithful children, and he is exhausted. He arrives on Titan II, completely and utterly exhausted, in pain and alone and he begins his retirement hoping to get some peace. His decimation was terrible, but you sympathize with him when you hear this...
"There is no throne, there is no version of this where you come out on top. Maybe your army comes and maybe it's too much for us, but it's all on you. Because if we can't protect the Earth…you can be damn well sure we'll avenge it." - Tony Stark/Iron Man
A MORE INTERESTING APPLE I doubt it. They're too emotionally broken by the deaths of their comrades to do anything. Besides, there's literally nothing they can do about it.
I feel like this defines Thanos perfectly, he's done something great in his mind and he has fought for so long and he can finally be at peace, but he never truly is, he can never be at peace because of how he is and how his life was. He will always have a sadness lingering deep inside.

Dare I say this movie felt like a cosmic Shakespearean epic where the story, despite their being too many characters at times, felt almost natural, a really compelling villain, and a lot people died (Sorry, but it had to be said). I can't wait for the season finale of the MCU (because sometimes it feels like a cinematic series).
Absolutely agree. My jaw was dropped the first time I saw it, all I could think was, "this felt more like a Lord of The Rings or Star Wars movie, a true epic". I was blown away, still am. What an amazing achievement.
The tragedy ending of Infinity War is what make it so great. No one at the end get what he/she want, including Thanos himself, and he even need to have a confession to young Gamora as a salvation for himself. Tragedy show us the non-existent of justices, rules and reasons, the truth of meaninglessness.
I just loved how the movie ended so quietly with almost everyone gone and then this piece plays and we see the final scene. I left the theater last night kind of mourning. I get it's just a movie but I was enjoying it too and getting invested in all the characters.
This is by far my favorite instrumental piece in the entire MCU. I love it. They absolutely nailed the emotion that they wanted you to feel at the end. God bless Alan Silvestri.

Everyone at the theather went dead silent, but the moment I saw Thanos in that place there was a combination between grief and happiness. He knows that he had to sacrifice the one thing he loves so he can achieve his goal, but with a greater cost. But, there is one thing we must know: despise been considered the most infamous intergalactic conqueror, Thanos finally saved the entire cosmos by eliminating half of its habitants. He doesn't care what he has done, what matters to him is that he is finally at peace and the universe won't suffer the same fate of extinction, which was the very same way his world died. All I have to say, is that Thanos won.

I think that the most impactful moment of this piece is that chord resolve with the slight crescendo the very end. It totally blew my mind to see the heroes we grew up with disappear, to see Thanos sit peacefully in front of his paradise, and to hear it resolve from minor to major. It was a sad ending. The villain won. Yet? The music had a happy ending. Melancholic, but then it achieves closure. Phenomenal work from Silvestri. Especially since I had an extremely noisy audience with me, clapping, cheering, and gasping throughout. But during this scene? Silence, as everyone let the ending sink in, and process what they’d just seen. This ending sets Infinity War apart from any other superhero movie. I liked Endgame guys, but Infinity War is just way better. Such a masterpiece.
Sunny Gurlukovich agreed, I got sad when Thanos died ;( TWICE ;;;;(((((
Yeah I think the reason infinity war felt like a better movie was because a lot of characters and action
So uhhh, how did Falco, Zofia, and Udo like the movies?
They are both absolutely phenomenal movies
Infinity war was more poetic
0:48 this is my favorite part of this song. Seeing Thanos watch the sunset on a “grateful” universe always gets me
Just now realized that half of the orchestra is missing from this track (all I hear is strings and a bit of percussion; woodwinds and brass are missing) since this is the scene just after the snap. Alan Silvestri is a genius.
Wow🤩
It is a string quartet not an orchestra whatsoever.
Compared to the Endgame variant of this (Totally Fine), it really does feel like it was halved along with the rest of the universe.
@@harrylarry145 Good job missing the point, like so many other killjoys before you.

Hopefully we'll get Farmer Thanos at the beginning of Infinity War II.
yes also for the sequel want do you really want to see ^^ ? personally I really want to see Adam Warlock
Pretty Sure James Gunn said he's saving Adam Warlock for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3.
You can see the Armor Scarecrow in that final scene.
Do you guys think the planet that thanos stays on is gamora's homeworld? Thanos said that her homeworld has become so peaceful since the he wipe out half of the planet and it could be thanos way of mourning his favorite daughter's death. Just my little theory
daniel white that's a good one
While watching this very last scene, this made me realized that Thanos is actually more of a sad character than a hated villain. His tragic history really affected his motivations so that's why he got bad and evil.
He just wanted to deserve what he wanted to get, and now it's here, watching the sunset and smiled like he's an innocent being.
Kudos to Josh Brolin's performance in the movie, and the movie itself.
Yeah from his perspective, he's saving the world from overpopulation, so that he will never witness what happened to his planet once ever again
i think after living 1000 years he gained a certain level of knowledge that allows him to factor out all who would die but more so realize how many he’s saving from suffering
I got goosebumps when this started playing in the beginning of Endgame. Absolutely amazing soundtrack.

His "Oh God" was pretty close.
I actually like the "Oh God" line more.. shows just how big the consequence of losing was.
"Oh God" is more realistic.
AJcaraballo95 that's probably as close to cussing as Cap's gonna get. The moment he saw the hole in Vision's head, the enormity of what happened hit him like a truck and he couldn't process.
It was a callback to the 'We Won' scene from the Avengers... except here people were dead and all Avengers were standing in shock.

This Soundtrack alone puts Comic Thanos to shame.
You got that right.

Oscar for special effects at max. It's superhero movie, oscar prefer drama movies (with or without relationships). I personnaly stopped giving a shit about oscar after Moonlight win
I’m highly anticipating what the Russo brothers do with the fourth installment.
