    Great video! I had full front PPF and ceramic coating on the rest of the car a few months ago. It's so much easier to keep my car looking clean all the time. All I do is power rinse regularly with deionized water and dry with a blower - completely touchless, Then, I hand wash with soap every two weeks. The hydrophobic properties of the PPF and ceramic coating are the key to why it's so easy to keep my car looking great all the time.

    I would like updates on how often you need to replace PPF. Like if you get any rock chips that are too deep for it to self-heal or when dirt gets up under the edges.

    Good choice Joe! 100% protect what you work hard for. I mention in my videos but I always fully ppf my cars. Any surface that’s painted, gets corrected and protected with film as soon as I can. Often times before I even take delivery. The films are becoming more expensive but as long as the job is not worth over 10%+ of the cars value, it’s a must have!

    Nice job! I did this to my 2022 Outback when I got it fresh off the lot. The saddest part was this freezing winter a rock was able to pierce and rip the PPF. I was extremely disappointed when I saw it chip the film. The PPF is strong only in warmer climates vinyl and PPF become brittle like plastic in the freezing cold.

    • @MuffinMan0521
      @MuffinMan0521 ปีที่แล้ว

      This likely cost him almost $1500. There’s so much that goes into it… the PPF and ceramic materials themselves, but as you saw, the paint correct with wheels off takes a lot of labor. Additionally, I’m sure they detailed the interior. You could get this all done for way less elsewhere, but they wouldn’t be putting in the same effort. This is the best investment I’ve made on my R and wish I knew about it sooner so I could have done it to previous cars.

    • @Vermonstered
      @Vermonstered ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MuffinMan0521 Just the PPF xPel sheets are just under $1500 for the front bumper, hood, fenders, sills and mirrors. Add in a few hundred for the ceramic coating and paint cleaning product. Then another thousand for labor and that's low balling it. Just a ceramic coat and paint correction can cost $1000. Here we're likely talking closer to $4k if he was paying street price (which he's not).

  • @codychallenger0666

    Finally part 2!! Yes get ceramic done with the clear stuff to go over it... my cars a 21 ND front bumper ND hood is ruined now I gotta get sprayed over winter... get it done as soon as u leave.. I did get it ceramic coated 2 weeks ago so stop more damage tho

  • @brian07470
    @brian07470 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The paint correction and ceramic coats are an amazing thing to do. Makes a huge difference. But I still can't wrap my head around putting a plastic film on your beautiful paint job and then ceramic coating that. You will have to replace the PPF eventually and then you'll have to reapply the ceramic again. Seems like a waste. Plus I worry about the long term damage that it can make on a car. Maybe its better now but I was looking at a used 2005 car and the PPF was cracked so badly that my detail guy said the car will probably need to be repainted...

I live and Tampa so as soon as I watched this video I contacted Presidential Detailing for a quote, this shop looks legit and I know you do your research. Another video that I think a lot of us would be interested in is how do you go about washing your type r? A lot of people say that car washes have become much safer for your paint but I don’t trust it 100% when it comes to swirls, scratches, water spots, etc. If you hand wash your car or have it done professionally, how often do you do that? I think that would be very informative. Loving the vids, thank you!

    I truly respect and appreciate those of you who go to these lengths to protect your investment. It looks absolutely stunning! However, I received a few quotes for these services and I was floored! Paint correction couldn't be determined until they saw it in person. Pre-cut PPF (full body) was $7,500, bulk was $9,000. Ceramic coat (over PPF) is $1,995 while over paint is $1,495. Now, this makes me question if it's worth it or not considering these services last 5-10 years. Personally, I'll take my chances and have it fixed and repainted when the time comes, it will still cost far less than $10k. Unless you know how to do it all yourself, then it's a no-brainer to have it all done. I would only do ceramic coating. Love your FL5 Joe!

If I can get all of that done for $4k, I wouldn't argue it, but I'd be questioning the quality of the products and work if I received substantially higher quotes elsewhere. TBH, I'm planning to leave Cali because it's simply too expensive to live here. Here's one simple example. Note, that paint correction isn't included yet, I also requested window tint which was $1,700 for all of the windows (including the windshield). That, I know is too expensive because I had Llumar IRX installed on all of the windows on my Tesla and that was $1,000. Xpel is just slightly more expensive than Llumar, maybe $50-100 more, not $700. I just completely gave up if the prices were anywhere near the $10-12k service costs, even $8k is out of the question for me.

    I only put ppf on cars from a certain value (way above that of the civic) cause it costs a lot and is not 100% fool proof.
    You can end up with damaged paint real quick and then need to replace the ppf in that area as well ending up with pretty much pointless ppf as the car now had to be repainted.
    Talking out of experience, my Civic got ceramic coating but no ppf so it's easy to wash and has a nice deep shine.

    Ouch. Just called their shop to get a quote kist for full PPF on a 2024 Civic Type R and it's $8500!!! Not including ceramic coating. Yikes. 😱. That better come with 2 life time warranties. Holy smokes Batman!

    Looks like a good $5-6k worth of detailing, PPF is awesome though, even more on a black or white car.

    Hey Joe, just wondering why you let the dealer wash your car before delivery?? When I buy a new car I insist on NO WASHING to prevent any swirl marks.. and I take it straight to my detailer who peels off all the shipping plastic himself before doing all his work.. it's a great way to make his job easier!

    • @RaitisRides
      @RaitisRides  ปีที่แล้ว

      Because it had roll on goo for shipping protection

      Where I bought my last 3 cars, I even noticed swirl marks on the vehicles in their showroom, so I guess most people aren't too concerned about them.. but like you, I care about detail.. so I figured it's best to avoid their car washers.. or car damagers! 😆
