Imma say something that may get a lot of hate but I think Gen Z needs to hear it: you don’t deserve respect solely because you belong to a particular community, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or gender. You don’t deserve respect just because you’re gay, or a woman, or because of your pronouns. The sooner we go back to respecting each other for the merits of our character, the sooner things will get better in the Western world.

Most of us, and I hate to say us as I'm barely in the z group, use pity to get others to pat us on our backs. So few youngsters nowadays have anything useful to offer, so they have to outsource feelings of usefulness and meaning to others, which offloads any stress they have to improve. The phrase, "You're perfect just the way you are" is a good example, as it almost always comes as a response to a depressing comment about ourselves. Self deprecation (fishing for compliments) followed by assurance (You're amazing in every way). Why change if everyone says they see you as perfect. To be fair though, most modern parents have taken the easy route for raising their kids - ipad parenting, which everyone knows is a terrible way to raise kids.

Currently in 2nd year of postgraduate school in psychology so I might know a thing or two. Clinical deppression or MDD is something not everyone get. But your average old depression is a thing. And it's different than what you'd call 'The Blues' because that more of a moody feeling people get once in a while I believe. Regular depressions are a real thing (some scholars call them 'mild depression'), and they're caused/triggered by a loss of loved ones, overthinking, losing self-worth etc. This happens a lot among younger generations especially in uncertain periods of their lives. MDD or clinical depression happens without a trigger. It's something ingrained in your head. A mental error. This, people don't get often or even ever get it (likely below 10% of people world wide will ever get MDD). So yes, there is a thing as regular depression which is likely the term generation Z's use often, but please separate it from clinical or MDD because they are different. (P.S if bad English. It's my 3rd language)

@@FlyXcur Dude, that's not true. For people with medical depression yes, but generally speaking? It would have to take an outside force to trigger legitemate depression. There are actual times where it's simply just moody depression, which is why there are statistics where women, that of which get hormonal imbalances and more so often get moody depression, tend to get more depressed yet men are the ones who actually commit suicide, why? Because moody depression to actual depression is separate. Moody depression is just being quite sad time to time, to develop legitemate depression is when you know everything in your life is fucked up in the long-term and you don't have a chance of bettering yourself. Doubting yourself is actually normal, but developing a problem where you can't even find any sort of interest to anything or anyone and lack the focus to give to generally everything isn't.
On the topic of overthinking, like anxiety, OCD and ADHD, that's a different topic since it involves legitemate health problems that actually do affect your brain. Please, I say this as part of Gen Z and has tried to act depressed, don't treat depression like something easy-going for children. It isn't easily obtained and it isn't normally obtained since it's an actual health condition.

My sister SEEMS like a millenial most of the time, but if she gets "triggered" (And she gets triggered by someone else being confident in what they personally believe, that's literally all it takes), her true form is revealed where she regurgitates Gen Z rhetoric pathologically, keeps telling everyone else that she doesn't care what they say and that they aren't allowed to say whatever they're saying because it's "rude" or whatever. xD
She is glued to her phone, 90% of the time, a complete slave to social media and all that entails, such as PC-culture, and Cancel-culture, etc...

I don’t think it’s an extreme amplification but it is a minor amplification. It’s good to keep in mind that Jubilee resides in LA. I’m not sure where all of the participants come from but I’m gonna assume that at least most of them also come from LA.
I’m just saying this because, due to the culture, politics, and overall perception of the area, LA often hosts the epitome (or amplification) of different types of people.
Overall though, I wouldn’t say that this is a terrible casting considering that it could have easily been MUCH worse.

@Mali pirate Because they still act a certain way? And we can judge what we think about their acting a certain way no matter what age they are. 19 is an adult. I was most certainly not like this at 19.
Now judging them as though they don't have any room at all to grow and mature would be unfair for everyone involved. But to take these hyper sensitive meme kids, and turn them into well adjusted adults.. I mean we've seen generations pull through in the second half but genZ is gonna have to hope for a miracle! Back to you Pete.

As someone who supervises, hires, and trains staff to work at a mental health facility, the administrative team I am apart of has had many closed meetings so far over what we internally call "the generational dilemma." We have found that new staff in the Gen Z demographic are very different than all our other staff from other generations. They tend to struggle with even the most benign feedback on their performance. They are quicker to make excuses for why they didn't do their job properly than our other staff. They do seem to be idealistic and have good intentions in their own minds, but they are very sensitive when challenged about the practicality or feasibility of an idea. On the other hand, they seem to crave being apart of something bigger than themselves moreso than our other staff, and they are practically giddy upon being hired as if they are going on some incredible journey, whereas other folks from older demographics tend to be more realistic about the job being a job to pay bills. It's almost like GenZ'ers imagine that their job is going to be part of changing the world, when in fact, it likely won't. We are literally having to learn a new style of leadership solely because of Gen Z.
If another staff from a previous generation needs feedback on their job, we simply give it directly like we always have. But for Gen Z, it's almost like having a therapy session with them, with a box of tissues on standby because they almost all get emotional, especially the females. Our mid level supervisors are all millennials and happen to currently be all female, and they come to closed meetings every week to express to us how hard it is to supervise young, female Gen Z staff. They beg us to only hire older staff, but we can't, because for every 1 applicant we get from older generations, we get 10 or more Gen Z applicants.
"I need you to show up to work on time from now on turns into "Here's my life story about how I had good intentions and am a good person despite being late!" We are literally having to teach them how to have a job in a professional environment, how to value punctuality and personal responsibility...and this sucks because we're not in the business of teaching Gen Z'ers how to be professionals, we're in the business of helping our clients. They seem to hold grudges quite firmly if they don't like the feedback they get. That is somewhat scary to us as older administrators, because we see what their generation does when they form a grudge: they try to destroy people's lives on social media and get them canceled. So, we are very careful about the words when supervising Gen Z staff and always have at least 2 administrators (1 male and 1 female) in the room when giving them performance evals so there is always a witness in case they want to imagine they are being picked on. Responsibility seems to be a struggle for Gen Z and that is kinda scary to us.
And before anyone retorts with "Every generation has problems" yeah I'm aware. But, Gen Z is definitely more unique than all previous demographics I've worked with in my 20 years in mental health.

Feels like counseling instead of managing, it can be exhausting -specially in an industry so cut throat as hospitality- you need at least thick skin or no fucks given when it comes to the uncomfortable situations you deal with every day.
Coaching requires so much patience and humoring of these "ideals" they abide by. For such an inclusive generation, they are really bad at professionalism and dealing with compromise.

While this is somewhat endearing, it is far from all. They’re just the most coddled, pampered and sheltered bunch of people out there. Criticism is never constructive, but personal. And discipline isn’t an ideal to live by, but a social construct holding them down. Honestly, as someone from an Asiatic country who recently landed in America, I assure you, 99% of these folks wouldn’t survive a day out in Asia. I’m 21, have had to work until my buttcheeks slathered off, to make it to where I am today. There's a parody song of LMFAO's song "I'm in Miami bitch" from 2010 by a guy named Keith From Up Da Block entitled "Tight Jeans is Gay, Bitch." At that time, it was hilarious to me. It still is. Now, I say, to each his or her own and live and let live. Personally, I would rather see women in skinny jeans than men. There's already crop tops for men as if heterosexual women will be attracted to men wearing crop tops. Some clothes need to remain to be worn by women, not men, unless you're a homosexual or bisexual man. Either way, I don't care, but it's just my opinion.

@Beelzebub_6th that's a dangerous road to go down. As its true, men have done this for thousands of years (work to death) but women have only done it for about 50. Not saying its the fault of women, but corporations and government saw more potential workers/tax slaves after WWII and advocated for it. Couple that with mandatory schooling that at this point is no more than a daycare past age 14 regurgitating the same viewpoints and shutting down all opposing viewpoints, you've got a recipe for what we see today. No freedom of thought, no individuality, or sense of responsibility that comes with said freedoms.
I am in no way saying we should remove women's rights. Don't get that twisted, as people should be allowed to do as they wish so long as its not hurting others. However, I am saying that the state has sold us lies dressed as freedom/progress when in reality both genders are more miserable than ever. Work isn't fun/fulfilling, its something you do to survive/provide for yourself and family.

Millenials span from 1981 to 1996, so who you connect with more depends on when you were born. I was born in 1989 and I honestly think Millenials have mor in common with Gen Z than anyone else. Millenials were the start of the self esteem, participation trophy generation. While we're not nearly as sensitive and inclusive as Gen Z, we are far more inclusive and caring than the previous generation. Most of you are younger, so of course your lives are easier now.
Absuse and depression and mental health are things that were covered, swept under the rug and ignored in previous generations. (Imagine all of the school shootings that may not have happened and all of the lives that could've been saved by taking abuse, depression, and mental health more seriously?) Either way, this started with Millennials as we were the participation trophy and self esteem generation.
EVERY generations complains. Boomers complain about Millennials. Millennials complain about how hard adulting is. Gen Z complains about their status quo. We inherited a shitty economy and were force fed lies about the economic return on expensive college degrees. Gen Z doesnt have to sweep their internal issues under the rug like their Boomer grandparents had to, so now they're able to give a voice and name to their psychological issues.

Every generation is good and bad in their own way. In general the Boomers are the luckiest of the currently living generations, they were born in a time of economic bliss that followed the war which brought with it tons of opportunities, Gen x followed their trail and success. Millennials however got the short end of the stick, most of the opportunities were sucked up by the previous generations leaving them with scraps and a housing market so absurd in price most will never be able to afford a house in their entire lives. Now we get to Gen Z, the generation with little future to look forward to, born in a time where everything is slowly becoming automated and where life is so easy for them that most are simply contented with a roof over their head and something to do, housing prices even more so absurd they'd need to basically be making 6 digits to even dream about buying a house in 25 years.

This is backwards. Talk to more Boomers and hear about how common the abusive, resentful and angry parents were. I'm not saying they were all like that, but remember the community, parents and grandparents who raised them went through two World Wars and the Great Depression. People won't tell a young, innocent person about the hell they witnessed and experienced generally. They don't want to relive it as it is already. I'm 26 and the older I get the more I learn about the horrible things my parents, grandparents uncles, aunts and great grandparents went through. Besides that I bought a house in 2019 making $13 a hour in AZ. Just $5000 down. It took a few years to save that up and learn how to handle my finances ofcourse. It was a cheap house for sure, but not the cheapest out there ether. Don't assume my childhood was trauma and tragedy free ether. It wasn't. The loan finalizer wasn't impressed ether. He said they see millennials do that or better all the time. Buying a house is simple when you just look at the numbers. You can calculate the price range, amount down and income required and then work towards it. There are tens of millions of Millenials and it's not uncommon for them to be skilled at finding information on their own to educate themselves. Dave Ramsey is who's financial plan I follow now. You can follow others like Robert Kiyosaki if you want. You have to step outside your ego and grow though. Ekhart Tolle's The Power of Now helped me do that. The market is high now, but it's still do able. I know millenials who one was making minimum wage in retail and one was a team lead making $16hr at Target and they bought a new build. I could do it on one income at 24. A low income for the time too. As long as you educate yourself, plan, discipline yourself and take one step above a entry level job, you can buy a house. That or get a second job. 50-70hrs a week is very do able for atleast a short time in your early twenties. One job with OT is better, because of time and a half. Take what you can get though. Thank you and I wish you the best of luck in life.
