    Comments and questions are welcome but visitors that are disrespectful will be removed. You can tell me about your religious, or non-religious beliefs (please), and you can ask me more about what I believe (I love to talk about it). But lets prove that people in the comments section can still have humanity and dignity.

      Oh Dear Brother, dignity and humanity,yes. But what about truth? Does sharing apposing beliefs mean a lack of dignity and humanity. The day I finally realized the Mormon Church was not true, was the saddest day of my life. Now, after finding a true relationship with my Savior, Jesus Christ, i am at my happiest. God bless you.

      Wow, look at all of you guys exhibit to the world exactly why they felt a need to make this comment in the first place. Insisting on commenting pointless “This is what you believe, lies!!” How silly guys. I left the Catholic Church to become a member of the Church of Jesus Christ and I never go on Catholic videos and comment about how they lied or how I “now have a relationship with Jesus”. I respect Catholics and the Catholic faith even though I no longer believe in its doctrine.

    I honestly don't understand why a lot of people talk negatively about the Mormons. They go everywhere to help anyone they can. The 2 worst times in my life so far we're remedied by missionaries coming out of nowhere and talking to me. I will always defend the Mormons and I thank God for sending them to me in my times of need.

      Most of the negativity about the Mormons I think comes from people who are either ignorant of the Mormons, find it hard or don't intend to keep the Mormon standard, or is critical of the Mormon culture and actions rather than their actual beliefs.
      A bit like the reason most people are atheist is not because of lack of evidence for God, but rather because they don't want to put in the time to seek the evidence or don't want for a God to exist.
      The negativity is unfair, but some of the criticism isn't. While the scriptures tend to teach that faith chases away fear, and truth should shine and be exposed, there are many Mormon's who also fear the truth of their own standards or Mormon history, which is not good. But this fear and hiding of truth is never as bad with the Mormons as with world leading organizations and nations, the CIA, KGB or CCP, so it still remains as one of the better organizations in the world even if it does not live up to the standards taught in scripture.

      Completely agree. Unfortunately, I do believe Mormonism is false. Open to change of mind but, Lord willing, I make the decision and find the evidence no matter where it leads that I be Mormon. I look into Christian apologetics and some apologist I watch say that they have not found evidence for the Mormon faith to be true. However, I greatly commend them for their consistency with living out their faith, although, I do think the ceremonial practices of Mormonism are wicked or false from what I've heard whether fallacy or truth.

    People disparaged the book of mormon’s mention of horses for over a century, citing the utter lack of any evidence of horse remains in any proposed geographical region the events of the book could have taken place in. Several months ago concrete evidence for horses that fits the time period and general location was found and absolutely no one says a word about their favorite anti-mormon argument being soundly debunked. What’s the deal?

    • @rapanuikapu904
      @rapanuikapu904 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The deal is there are loads of genetic evidence proving that native americans did not come from Jerusalem. There's no archaelogical evidence either. Theres no linguistic evidence. Egyptologists proved that Joseph Smith could not read Egyptian hieroglyphs. I genuinely dont mean any disrespect but the facts speak for themselves. Theres just no way the book of mormon is true, and evidence showing that there were horses in the Americas pre-european contact doesnt prove anything. Was this honestly a "favorite argument". I think people care way more about the "native americans were actually white" thing.

      We have traveled through more than 12 U.S. states filming hundreds of locations where Native American mounds, great earthworks (with a pyramid east of St. Louis called Cahokia, which is larger at its base than Tehotihuacan in Mexico, which I have been to, or the great pyramid of Giza in Egypt!) 🤪 Did any of you know that? The archaeologists even know how many millions of baskets full of dirt it took to create that pyramid approximately. Most the documented sites align with the histories of 3 major civilizations that the Book of Mormon testifies of. They correspond with the people that lived during the Book of Mormon times: 1) The Clovis Culture was Adam & Eve’s time & after, 2) The Adena Culture corresponds to the dating of the Jaredite peoples who left the Tower of Babel to come to this, the Promised Land. 3) The Hopewell Culture corresponds to the knee fight and Lamanite periods during their worrying times until 425 A.D. Just Google search any of those three cultures and you will spend the rest of your life seeing Mounds of evidence… Pun intended!
      Just because you say it isn’t true does not mean anything because not one of you have studied the Book of Mormon who is saying negative comments that reveal that you don’t know what you don’t know until you do. I am inviting you to study it out for yourself and then ask your own core spirit and our Almighty God if it is true. You can sincerely know for yourself. Ask the creator if it is true. You can know ALL truth through your own knowingness as you truly seek for truth, whether it comes from life experiences, faith, or not!
      I can tell negative people’s comments are because of the attitudes they have toward life in general. True followers Jesus Christ, he who created this beautiful earth, are NOT smug and ignorant. Anyone who loves truth knows that the more we learn, the more we realize how much we DON’T know, but all truth is knowable! Whether now or in the future, all truth is Noble and Know-ABLE. I could go on and on... I have lived in Mexico and studied many Layers upon layers of history and archaeology there in central America as well. But, do United States of America is a covenant land and I invite everyone to live up to know what a covenant is and prove to yourself whether you have the courage to study more truth for yourself...whether toward eternal truths or not. Faith works both ways. If you believe in evil, that man was created selfish and dark, your faith in that belief will prove you right. If you want to attract that energy in your life, you will for fill your own prophecy. But there is more, always more. What do you want? Goodness in this world, or not? If you want goodness, honesty, light and truth, then choose it! Have the courage to read the Book of Mormon with a sincere prayer in your heart. Do you have the guts to invite the beauty of our Jesus to be your Friend to claim your gifts, guidance, and growth? It’s up to you if you cheat yourself right out of being the captain of your soul with the All-Universe Coach who will always love us, no matter if we love Him back or not. I know Him and know that He is real...and He may even walk among us. Like the last man standing at the end of the wars described in the Book of Mormon, I will be happy to face any and all of you at the pleasing judgement bar of God...because I choose my Savior of which this Book testifies of. No, We won’t want to condemn you. You are already doing enough of that to yourselves. We all do that. 😝 So let’s be wise and trust our own faith walk (or crawl...lol) toward light & love. Eventually, I hope we come together as fellow journey buddies!

    I was raised in the Mormon church. Is there a reason why you left out the change of skin color? That has always been an integral part of the Nephite/Lamanite story. Bad marketing perhaps? I've been seeing a similar theme in other pro-Mormon media of late. It's as if we are screaming out, hey look, we're not really racist (because we're going to ignore that part now)

      You may read the Book of Mormon differently than me and as such, if you were to create an 8 minute summary, you might approach it differently. I'd be interested to see what you think is a better approach (sincerely). My video is called version 1 for a reason.
      I suspect you and I may understand the "color" references differently. Please take a look at my video on that topic to understand where I am coming from: th-cam.com/video/PDJ6-O5-ans/w-d-xo.html

The video itself was quite fantastic and I loved that children narrated it. In a different time of my life I would have had a greater appreciation for this sort of thing. When I read the Book of Mormon I have difficulty with reading things like “White and delightsome”. I wish I could get past it. Perhaps what I find in your link will help. Or perhaps I’m just biased, considering I’m a Lamanite and ‘cursed with the scale of darkness’.

    • @Wolfman01969
      @Wolfman01969 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I watched the video you sent me. They failed to mention the flat nose. According to Brigham Young, the curse of Cain was a flat nose and black skin. Those were his exact words. I wonder if he was being metaphorical or literal. When Gordon B Hinckley was confronted about the subject he did not deny it and said, "Because the leaders of the church at that time interpreted that doctrine that way". Odd that he did not delve into the 'metaphorical' nature of the issue.
      My reference: th-cam.com/video/Z-4dKmO8CSw/w-d-xo.html
      Apparently, it's not a matter of how I read the Book of Mormon. It's what I was taught by those leaders during that time. In the 20 years I regularly attended church, Nephites were clearly known as being white and Lamanites were dark skinned. I learned it in Sunday school and seminary, saw it in all the paintings, watched it in video re-creations. The metaphorical apology doesn't really work for people who were raised in the church and received those teachings.

    • @brotherfullmer
      @brotherfullmer  6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I don't deny anything you are saying and I understand that this is the experience many people have. However, I don't find it scripturally sound (As shown in the video). Elder Dallin H Oaks has called theories of the past related to blacks and priesthood, "spectacularly wrong." This is taught in seminary today. www.lds.org/manual/doctrine-and-covenants-and-church-history-seminary-teacher-manual-2014/section-7/lesson-157-official-declaration-2?lang=eng
      The question, I guess, we all have to ask is if that is OK. Is it alright that some things taught in our past were wrong. That prophets said things that are not doctrine. That there are saving doctrines and ordinances that are of supreme importance in this Church that are foundational and true (and haven't changed) but that other things are revealed and understood incrementally - as we (as a people) are willing to receive them. We are the limiting factor to revelation. I believe that as we live what God has given us, then more will be given (2 Nephi 28:30).
      Today the Church disavows theories advanced in the past the black skin is a sign of divine disfavor or curse. For me, I see it as the continuing of a Restoration that started in 1830 and is ongoing. I look forward to more "great and important things pertaining to the kingdom of God." (Article of Faith 9).

    • @Wolfman01969
      @Wolfman01969 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That was the most intellectually honest response I’ve received. I am NOT calling you an apologist, but the problem with most apologists is that they divert accountability for things that were said and done by hiding behind half-truths. I think that approach does more harm than good. It can even be rather insulting.
      I had questions about things when I was growing up in the church, but I never really researched them. Mormonism was my culture, I liked being a Mormon. I loved visits from the missionaries… there wasn’t enough negative things that pushed me to address the questions I had. We also didn’t have the internet back then. You don’t have to look very hard these days. I learned a lot of things about the church that I never knew about while I was growing up in the church. Things I found to be quite embarrassing and difficult to resolve. DNA markers, archeology, the issue with the brass plates and the Book of Abraham debacle. If we seek truth, how can we turn a blind eye to such incriminating evidences. Though I drifted from the church, I never drifted from my morals… honesty and truth being one of my most valued standards. Sometimes the most difficult type of honesty is being honest with ourselves, especially when it challenges our belief system. I’m also very curious by nature and have a great curiosity of how active, intellectual members (such as yourself) deal with these same negative experiences. Your responses to my comments were well thought out, honest and credible. You demonstrated great patience and addressed things in an intelligent and genuine manner. If you were attempting to approach this conversation by being a Christ-like example, you nailed it. Great job.
      Now… the way you addressed skin color in your video makes sense to me. After all that was said, I’ve changed my opinion. I think your approach was quite excellent and in very good taste. I commend your video and I certainly could NOT have done it better.

    The Book for Mormon is a very spiritual book. It is very similar to books in the Bible except it was written 1800 years later. The theology of the book touches upon many issues that were relevant in the 19th century and many of the concepts are very applicable now. Though the author Joseph Smith Jr wrote the book for those in the early 19th century so many positive life lessons can come from it. I encourage people to have a open mind when examining it and just link it exclusively to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

    This is excellent and what I've been looking for. I'm not sure if you are still asking for feedback, but here are some thoughts:
    1. The narrators are excellent. Very articulate and enunciate well. However their voices are clearly young. Initially the narration sounds "odd" because it's not what I expected. My suggestion would be to create some context in the title of the video. Like "The Book of Mormon in 8 Minutes narrated by Seminary Students/Youth/Something to let me know to expect young voices"
    2. At 6:10 the fonts are too large. Wars and preaching touch the other words, and preaching doesn't fit in the screen. Using that many different fonts at once also makes it hard for the brain to read them. My suggestion is to put each word inside of a box. Fill the box with white set to a transparency of 50 to 60% so that you can still sort of see the map behind it. Then place the word inside the box. That way they will stand out and be easy to see. And I'd just pick one of those fonts for all the words. I think you use papyrus for intrigue. That might be a good one. (Probably the only time in my life I'd ever recommend papyrus, don't tell my BYU students.)
    3. At 8:03 The gold box is too big. It encompasses too many words and I don't know where my eyes are supposed to go. I would recommend just putting a box around verse 5. As it is right now the first word I read is "tent" which is actually the second half of the word "intent" which is in the middle of a sentence.
    4. I like that you use small caps for the Copperplate Gothic Bold titles and text . Reading text in all caps is hard on the eyeballs, but small caps makes it much easier to do it. One of my beefs with Copperplate is the tiny little serifs. A sans serif font is easier to read on a digital screen. You might want to consider Franklin Gothic Bold instead.
    I think it's an excellent video for visual learners. Good job.

    The ending is so powerful, I feel a witness from the Holy Spirit that this is true both times I watched it. For those listening with an open heart, see what you FEEL at the end of the narration. It is TRUE, I can FEEL it in my heart. Great video, thank you for creating this!

Together they set out on a journey to destroy the gold One Ring and save middle-earth from the evil lord Sauron....there were wars and battles in this book as well. Look up the serpent mound. There were people that build mounds that aligned with the stars. Kind of incredible. Some are located in Ohio too.

    3:10 What’s intresting is that both Lamanites and Nephites might have been both called Olmeks or whatever group of people they mixed with and whatever those groups of people called themselves then, in the decades after arriving to a land that was for sure already populated.
    So Lamanite and Nephite terms might have only been religious term to describe people who belonged to the church and who tried to destroy them.
    And the Lamanites likely didn’t call themsels Lamanites because if it was a religious term and they didn’t believe the group that followed Christ’s teachings, they called themselves whatever they were.
    Like when Nephites fell out of the church and the Lamanites repented and came back to the church, they became the Nephites and the others became the Lamanites, but they were both still Olmeks or Maya.
    And when the Nephites were destroyed the remaining people most likely didn’t call themselves Lamanites, but instead both terms and all Nephite beliefs and practises were quickly wiped out.

      I love Mormons but I'm no fan of Mormonism. There video is just a summation of their number one book. It adds some stuff into the story that I haven't yet read in the Book of Mormon and so I'd guess those bits are from later "revelation." That being said, their summation seems accurate enough to the claims of the book.
      As someone that looks at the story a bit more critically, I can only say that the Book wasn't impressive to me and is down right out of context in the majority of its pages. The initial story is interesting but seems to pull from elements found in the Bible such as the Exodus and wandering Hebrews narrative. The first book is very hard to read because every other paragraph beings with "and it came to pass." Try it for yourself and you will see what I mean. Its excruciating. It then quotes whole chapters of Isaiah, but the most surprising thing is that none of the theology is pre-exilic Judaism as should be the case. Its not just New Testament theology but it outlines the entire NT, as prophecy, down to the names, means and places. It even speaks of crucifixion which was unknown in the ancient world. There is no praying east to the temple. There are no required Jewish festivals and nothing parallels how God spoke through his prophets of the OT.
      From there everything so far has been very repetitious. Group A bad, Group B good, then Group B becomes good and Group A becomes bad. Over and over again with little to no detail and all covering lands that we have absolutely no evidence ever existed. I've only read through Alma which I want to say is about half way through, maybe a bit more so I'm interested in seeing how it reads when Jesus shows up on the scene. Oh that reminds me of one more critique. Nearly the entire book sounds like it was written by the same person except for just a few places that certainly has a different vernacular.
      Hope that is what you are looking for.

      ANYONE who is Anti-Mormon sounds like a hurt person who isn't willing to be honest about their wounds...and their hurt probably is hurt toward God? Or their own parents? There, I said it. I can love all these people, but they aren't being honest. They (those that post anti-Mormon videos or comments) have a lying spirit. All of us do about our "issues" until we don't. Do you want to be persecuted for trying to figure out some hard things in life, or do you want others to trust your path, and love you anyway? That's how Jesus is. He is infinitely patient with all of us! Why not choose HIM? You will know a true disciple by their loving, kind spirit.
      Isn't it interesting that all the comments that smack of cynicism toward others (and religions) are probably people who have a lot of negative things showing up in their lives? No one wants to be duped. I get that. Any time we point the finger at others and call them crazy (like these crazy Mormons...or Jews, or anyone else), we have 3 more fingers pointing back at us! What other body of beliefs, other than the Jews, have been the whipping posts and Scapegoats of the world, besides the Mormons? Native Americans qualify also, but THEY ARE THE ONES THE BOOK OF MORMON TALK ABOUT, and PROPHECY ABOUT. Native Americans were the noble people who went down the same road we are now, and what happened to them? They were destroyed, enslaved and lost their spiritual culture. Most Americans have not appreciated the great people that Natives are, and the beautiful spiritual truths that were preserved through them, just as the Jews and Mormons. But, "a house divided against itself, cannot stand." (Bible & Lincoln)
      Did you know, that like the Halocaust, Mormons & Native Americans are the only people who had an illegal extermination order set against them in Missouri in the 1800's? Most all their lands (Mormons & Natives) were stolen, they were killed, beaten by mobs, and driven from state to state, UNTIL Missiouri kicked the Mormons out, and Natives were relocated to Oklahoma. Some of the reasons were because Mormons were against slavery....amazing! Those orders were UNCONSTITUTIONAL. Both peoples were denied their 1st Amendment rights, as well as the right to Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. They had to leave the U.S. altogether and flee to the Mexican Territory of Utah.
      Mormons are the ones who settled most of the West, mind you, under extreme hardships...100s and 100s of settlements were build by faithful members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, including Mormons finding Gold in Calif. that started the Gold Rush!). Do you really know your history? I do, because many are my ancestors, and their stories inspire me, and I have them to answer to someday. I am loyal to their Legacy...one of Faith, Hope, Charity, Dedication, HARD WORK, Persecution, Loyalty to God and to true principles. I will answer anyone who says anything derogatory, because I will ask YOU the hard questions.
      Do you have the grit to grow, learn and have a child's heart before your God? When anyone says derogatory things, I will show you compassion if you are honest-in-heart. Otherwise, you don't have the guts to look at yourself and ask key questions in life that matter, like, Who am I? Where did I come from? Why am I here?
      Even if you don't believe there is a God, we all live by faith anyways (otherwise, why would you have a job and work, unless you had faith in getting paid...something you don't see every immediate day you work, you have FAITH that others will be honest and keep their agreements to pay, don't you?). It's like that with loving Heavenly PARENTS. We ARE children of God (plural...Eloheim). I KNEW I was of noble birth, a daughter of God, when I was 14, then at 24 again with another experience I cannot even put into words. I have seen beyond "the veil" of forgetfulness, a test we all agreed to come experience. I know hundreds of others, many not of our faith, who have been to the other side (called Near Death Experiences). Look them up on TH-cam. And I know MANY PERSONALLY. There are millions, even Muslims who are seeing the Savior, Jesus Christ. It is a life-changer. Why? Because none of us is complete...perfect. BUT, we all agreed to come to this Earth School and receive the gifts Heavenly Parents wanted to share with us, just as earthly parents do the same. Why do we want to have children?
      FAMILY is Forever, and people may choose NOT to become parents, or love others, (including themselves...how can we love God or our neighbor, if we don't love ourselves as THEY love us?). But you are losing out, in spite of the sacrifices. Only through sacrificing our selfish selves, can we truly be filled with joy. Most of us have hurts that are hidden behind anger, cynicism, bitterness, blame, guilt, etc. We all experience these things...and there are many confusing experiences we have in life, and we are AFRAID to really test things out to see if are loving Beings on the other side pulling for us. Will we have courage to prove God in all things, or not? Then, we choose to be cowards...that is, until we aren't anymore. We ALL have loving relatives SOMEWHERE...here on earth, or in the Spirit World. The Book of Mormon is a treasure that speaks of Christ more than any other Book in history. It is ANOTHER Testament of our sweet Jesus and Friend. Legally, under any court in the world, The Bible and Book of Mormon STAND double witnesses as Truth, why? Because these books are annals of hundreds of WITNESSES, of TESTIMONY (just like in a court of law). How do we know they are true? We can prove it. You can't erase history. But, anyone can deny there is a sun when the clouds are out, but it doesn't establish truth. Just because you haven't been to Alaska, or South America, doesn't make them NOT true. Well, I testify that there are Loving Heavenly Parents, and that Jesus is our great Creator and Friend. Why are so many of you willing to believe in Super Hero movies, or Superman, who show a lot of Christ-like attributes, or a willingness to help others, and to have the courage to fight for the right, but, you can't see the SON of His Light every day, in all things? Do you realize, that HIS LIGHT powers our Sun, and yet, He is humble, and kind, and allows us NOT TO BELIEVE IN HIM. He won't force anyone anytime.
      But, He and our Father in Heaven DID appear to Joseph Smith, who was a humble 14 year old boy who became one of the most accomplished Americans in history! I grew up with his descendants, and I have researched his life for 42 years! We also filmed through 12 states all of the evidences of the Book of Mormon that we could fit into 2 weeks, and will be posting mini movies about our research. If you want to have your mind blown a bit, go look up these Civilizations here in America: The Clovis people (who align with Adam & Eve's time, 6,000 years ago), then The Adena Civilization (the Jaredite Nation in the Book of Mormon). Now, see how many Hopewell Mounds there are all across the U.S. around the Great Lakes (where both the Clovis and Adena peoples lived). They ALL ALIGN WITH ARCHAEOLOGY, and the Book of Mormon Evidences. Go to www.BookOfMormonEvidence.org, and you will see all kinds of research and videos for free. Also, www.PreparingAPeople.com has a lot of video footage and free classes online.
      The Mississippian Culture (with thousands of mounds and earthworks all along the Mississippi River, plain, and south, was AFTER the Book of Mormon times, because the people became blood-thirsty and wicked, and chose NOT to honor the Covenants of this Land of Liberty. This was before our Founding Fathers, but the United States was set up for our day to bless the world, and honor the Covenants of 1) Blessings of the Land (just like Abraham of old), 2) the Blessings of Posterity (like Abraham, as numerous as the stars in the heavens), 3) Blessings of Prosperity to sustain our posterity, and 4) Security. If you know the history of the United States, we have kept those covenants for 200 years, but look now. We have lost all but 1 of them, every 7 years, because we are NOT honoring the God of this Nation: Jesus Christ. We are setting ourselves up for cleansing and the sermons that will be preached with earthly destructions, economic losses, invading forces including corruption within. The Book of Mormon is a BLUEPRINT for our day, down to each year that the pendulum would swing back and forth where the people change and choose to pray, have faith, and honor Godly principles of Faith in Him, Repentance, Baptism and receiving of the Gift of the Holy Ghost. These principles were lost, and God Himself, had to put the broken mirror of the Fullness of the Gospel back into place. It was prophesied and fulfilled with Joseph Smith as God's special servant. We are ALL God's children who want to serve a higher good and purpose if we choose to honor our highest selves and creation. Why not explore that more by going to www.LDS.org? Feel the Spirit...there you can nourish your true, highest self, if you have the courage!

    So if the Old Testament and the New Testament do not contradict the Book of Mormon, and the Old and New Testament contains all that is necessary for salvation, then why do we need the Book of Mormon?

    • @brotherfullmer
      @brotherfullmer  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      A valid question. For members of our Church, it would be similar to someone asking, "Since we have the Gospel of Matthew, why do we need Mark, Luke and John?" The answer comes in the reading of those books. No one who loves the Bible would want less witnesses of Christ's ministry or less teachings of His word. We feel the same way and that's why the Book of Mormon is so special to us.
      If it's helpful, I'll offer another thought. There are over 23,000 Christian denominations world-wide with many differences in belief and practice but all using some version of the Bible. The World Council of Churches identified the top 3 issues that Christian churches debate and one of them is baptism. Using the Bible alone, what is the correct understanding of baptism? There is no consensus. Positions range from "it is essential for salvation" all the way down to, "it is not necessary at all." That is a major doctrinal slide on something as important as the salvation of our souls. The Book of Mormon makes God's teaching on baptism crystal clear and clarifies and strengthens the teachings in the Bible so that together there can be no misunderstanding.
      That's just one example but I hope it is useful in answering your question from our perspective.
