Correct me if I'm wrong, but the VA's in this mod sound like the ones used in *Adrenaline Dubs Sonic IDW* videos, which makes the story feel like a IDW story that could have been told if Sega weren't so strict with the mandates
They are! Neo Metal's role in the story always reminded me of his IDW arc where it's stated he was being constructed for the final battle of original Forces. I don't know if they were referencing that whatsoever but it's my headcanon now lol

This fan made DLC actually made Infinite a powerful and threatening presence. This was all Sega needed to do. They just needed to push his character a little more and get Eggman out of the picture. Then people would have remembered him as a really cool villain with credibility. And he was leading the Phantom Army with Neo Metal Sonic? And the two of them actually had entertaining banter? Magnificent. Truly magnificent.

Because Neo metal sonic never showed up as a physical character in sonic heroes gameplay, he only showed up in cutscenes and the only metal sonic in that game was the final boss, which was metal overlord, since there was no in game model for Neo that means that the makers of this mod most definitely had to make this from scratch, with the inclusion of the phantom Ruby in Neo’s chest and the flowing power in his body. I mean there is possibly a fanmade model somewhere but I like to think they put the effort in to make this from scratch … all in all Neo looks amazing in this. And the mod itself looks amazing
Looks cool, I need to give this mod a try. I know that creating our own character had a mixed reception but personally what really bothered me was how short levels were, the lack of player input that was needed to beat the levels, and the gadgets were not fun to use.
Typically I hear people compliment the customization whenever I talk about about Forces which is nice! I wish there were more options but that's a subjective thing. I didn't really vibe with many Wispons besides Burst and Drill personally just because the others stop your momentum when you attack but I think those two are really fun to mess with
If anyone hasn't played this you owe yourself to do it! Its so much fun!! It actually makes me feel good about spending that money on Forces that previously felt like a waste, despite getting it at 75% off Seriously though the levels feel varied and have a ton of alternate routes, and they all require more than just holding the boost button, if you dont react you die. Not to mention they massively improved the controls from Forces. If you liked Generations its like that but a little harder to read whats coming up and a lot more paths to discover, all with minimal (but effective) 2D gameplay!

The mod is free to download but it's on the scale of a fan game so I wanted to give it that title ;) the developers specifically requested people buy OG Forces to play it so it's a win-win for everyone involved, no copyright infringement.

There's also a ton of improvement mods, custom levels, custom avatar parts, a custom Chaos 0 boss fight, and there's another level pack project called Sonic Forces Reimagined that you can play. (Though I think it's still in development). But for $10 on a sale I don't think that's too bad
The logic was after the events of original Forces, Infinite was more so out for revenge now against Sonic for defeating him at the height of his power, and Eggman for betraying him and taking the Ruby for himself. Shadow was small-potatoes to him, even in original Forces.
I dont get why no one has made that kind of video where they say something was an "underrated gem" about Forces yet. I've seen it for the kind of games that have the same amount of budget as Elf Bowling 2 but not Forces even though it was actually good, it really gets too much hate. I'm personally not a fan of the direction they went with Overclocked. Too story focused, forcing the Sonic Forces trailer wolf avatar on the player which defeats the main point of Sonic Forces (the character creator). Also, why show Infinite's face and have Metal Sonic betray Eggman?
Well I kinda figured part of the appeal was the attempt to see the Forces environment with an attempt at proper characterization, not to mention 99% of mods that exist don't have cutscenes. You can make your own avatar, the wolf is just the default. Metal has betrayed Eggman before so I don't necessarily see it as OOC.

I actually really love the comic book style cutscenes it reminds me of how the story book series did it's cutscenes so it doesn't feel off
