I think the biggest reason for that is that Kirito cares for the people he fights to protect, and I suppose you wish you could be like him in order to protect her. Either in virtual of in real life, he endured loss in both, and in the end it made him stronger because the people he lost helped him to fight and save the people in Aincrad and Underworld. Eugeo was one of those people who helped Kirito get back up and fight, and I hope that somehow that even though your girlfriend is gone, she is still with you, just like Eugeo was with Kirito. I think this is one of the reasons why Sword Art Online is so well loved. Once again, my condolences.

This song really fills me with hope, and makes me feel like I'm gonna be ok after all I've been through. My best friend, who I hung out with almost every day this past year, is my friend no longer. Ever since I foolishly fell in love with her, my emotions have been completely out of whack. We dated, she dumped me, she did many stupid things later, and I began to hate her. Then I realized I was sad that I'd lost my closest friend. But now, I think I've finally moved on. I'm done with her. I feel so...free. I always felt this song was about Suguha realizing she could never be with Kirito and her lamenting the ideal future she lost, but deciding to be there for him anyway and finding hope in herself to move on. Either that, or Kirito feeling he'll never fit in outside SAO or virtual reality in general, or him thinking he won't be able to save Asuna but finding the resolve to keep fighting for their future together.

Listening to this used to make me happy because it's my favourite song. Now, I cry even though I say crying shows weakness. It's because I have a lot of friends on Skype and there's one or two that I consider very close friends. One of them lives in Denmark and I really like him. I always felt this song was about Suguha realizing she could never be with Kirito and her lamenting the ideal future she lost, but deciding to be there for him anyway and finding hope in herself to move on.
Either that, or Kirito feeling he'll never fit in outside SAO or virtual reality in general, or him thinking he won't be able to save Asuna but finding the resolve to keep fighting for their future together.
