That channel was excellent, but your TH-cam channel is better. Great video. Shocking how much old roof material in that dumpster. Hard honest work. Thanks for the video. I don't know if it's just me but the video gets stuck at 9:36 when you were showing the water around the chimney. I had to skip forward 10 sec to get it to play again.
Seems reasonable for a place that gets constant rain almost year round. Here in California we don't even need to torch anything down, we can just nail it down and it'll do just fine lol.
Good thing you use dark gray cap sheet this time we can hardly see all you burn marks. By the way did you tell the home owners there heating and cooling bill is going to be higher now that you removed any R value the roof had and didn't put any back?
If you go over the stones, you will have a gap where hot air can't escape and it will get too hot.Accelerating deterioration of the material used for the roof-over.
I'm a professional roofer out of Tucson Union trained non-union state with over 21 years commercial residential and industrial experience trained by some real professionals and I think you are one hell of a roofer
Hello.. I recently moved into a home and the history of my porch roof sounds similiar to this. I think it was a torch down, then someone put some kind of tar or asphalt coating over it probably 6-7 years ago based on Google Earth imagery. I have no obvious leaks yet, but what should I do to prolong the life?
Hey, Flat Roof Doctor! I am curious about a product that you use for sloped flat roofs with EPDM on top. You use the silicone seal from bergstrom. Do you have any experience with the other silicone roof coating such as GACO, Henry, Kool Seal (by Sherwin Williams), or Blackjack? Also, how many coating would you suggest on an old EPDM roof (15+ years) with a small leak when there is heavy rain (I think caused by water pooling)?
Hmm, I can't vouch for all the other brands. What I do know is that the fleece that comes with the Bergstrom Super Silicone Seal, is incredible. You can buy a fleece at Home Depot, made by Henry, and it is not that good. It does not work as well. My suggestion is to get the silicone and the fleece and seal the seam in that particular area on the roof. It most likely will fix the problem. No need to coat the entire roof.
I have done this for years. When a roof is completely flat, and cause some pooling in areas, I cut a channel from the pooling area to the edge. That is like pitching the roof, but in a narrow area. Logic. On this particular roof I did channels in 3 different areas, and came out very nice
u put a channel for flow of water on a flat roof over a den with minimal depth?yes the roof needs either TAPERS ON TOP, OR PITCHING WHICH CAN BE DONE WITH LAYERING THE STYRO BOARDS I SUPPOSE U NEED PITCH OR CHANNELS CUT OTHERWISE U WILL HAVE PENETRATION...ON MY NEWLY CHEAPLY DONE JOB FOR 8000 there is rubber over styro board no pitch i go up after a rainstorm and push water off with a snow pusher...really ticked off...
At 9:14 the "doctor" says, "Not much water..." then proceeds to show us a roof FULL of puddles of ponding water! But that's okay, he says at 9:16, "...a little bit of water standing like this is okay because this will dry up in a day." Really? In that environment with high humidity where his shirt is soaked with sweat? Unreal. That water might takes WEEKS to evaporate in some of the deeper areas on that roof, all the while eating into and slowly destroying it, allowing mold and moss to grow in it and all kinds of other problems.
I use any self adhering base. Liberty, Mule Hide, Firestone. The one I prefer is Dynagrip by John Mansfield. That is hard to come by, but works the best
You're not putting down a flam You're using Fibre glass granuals as a base sheet not supposed to that's not a proper 2 ply system I believe that no product suppliers would support a warranty with your applications
Making bullshit channels that achieve minimal positive slope is NOT more expensive than installing a taper iso product. It's absolutely wild to watch you try and talk with some level of authority while being so unaware on how to correctly roof.
When you torch cap onto cap you are attempting to torch rubber to CRUSHED UP PORCELAIN, THIS DOES NOT WORK. Spend the fucking money you were given in the quote for the proper adhesives or fucking embedded the granules on the bottom layer. This is insane that someone let you do this work on their home.
Nice job..so very clean looking instead of what it was before.
Very good teaching I also do roofing jobs

I don't know what the issue is. I think it has to do with TH-cam server. But thanks for letting me know. As always, you are the best
@@FlatRoofDoctor appreciate your knowledge sharing, thanks again.
You are the best!
All I can say is we do our flat roofs differently here in Wales. A 3 layer torch on system layed on Kronospan. A 40 year life. Preferably a warm roof.
Seems reasonable for a place that gets constant rain almost year round. Here in California we don't even need to torch anything down, we can just nail it down and it'll do just fine lol.
You're doing it the right way. This guy is not.
Your teaching is great, I have torch down roof now that wasn't installed correctly. Going have to be redone correctly.
Thanks for videos
Glad to help
A great Diagnosis as Always Doctor
Thanks
You can cause condensation in between your 2 systems
Great job. Great presentation!!!
Thank you kindly!

Zero insulation on that roof now.

Gran trabajo

Wow
Nobody in their right mind would install torch down over an existing roof. Look at all the ponding he had.

You clean your channels periodically , just like any rain gutters or solars...

What to do to prevent a large water pooling on the roof?
Is that even possible to avoid?
I have done this for years. When a roof is completely flat, and cause some pooling in areas, I cut a channel from the pooling area to the edge. That is like pitching the roof, but in a narrow area. Logic. On this particular roof I did channels in 3 different areas, and came out very nice

Rip off the old roof and install the new roof properly.
I’m curious to know about the decks on these go overs are the plywood ?concrete ? metal?
If you watched the video, you can tell the guy cutting plywood and I was talking about Rafters and plywood in some places
So, it is a Wood structure
Yes obviously this one is. But as far as the others like the gravel go overs and what not

You have water pooling on your channel😂
Hey flat roof doctor what make felt do you use
I use any self adhering base. Liberty, Mule Hide, Firestone. The one I prefer is Dynagrip by John Mansfield. That is hard to come by, but works the best
What happens when channels get blocked with dirt and leaves?
The roof surface in that area ages prematurely.
Did they have any leaks from the storm
nope, nothing. that was close call. But always panicking when that happens
we call roofer like you cowboys
Talk into mic. Can't hear.
👍
Can you come fix my flat roof? How can I hire your company?
text me at my tel 203 858 0080 all call

You are correct sir.
Hello doctor I want to job

Love the Trump policy comment! lol Who does hard labor in this great country?

hahahaha, He voted for Trump and now he can't find workers, votes for a clown and expects a circus
Ain't no one got any job. You probably have immigrants working.
