    75 million plus per school with OU and UT. vs 34 mil and 44 mil
    Here's the thing. Next Summer SCOTUS rules on the legality of stipend caps. If caps are removed that will price out schools like Vandy, Wake, possibly B.C. and maybe even some publics like Purdue. When a court ruling changes the nature of a contract in such a way that performance risks financial hardship contracts are voided, all related contracts are voided. GORs are such a contract. The school can't afford to stay under the new nature so they can't be bound because staying hurts them, leaving hurts them and they had the change in nature imposed upon them. This has the potential to negate the GOR not only for the damaged parties but everyone because a new GOR would need to be signed. That window in a climate of panic could start a run.

    This is leverage for contract negotiations with Fox, etc. OU has been unhappy with mandated early kick-off times for years and the Nebraska game time has OU exasperated. This is also about money for a new TV deal. The Big 12 needs to add between 2-6 teams for more content and so that the mid-tier teams are more highly ranked for the playoffs. The Big 12 round robin schedule is brutal for those mid-tier teams. The TV networks have not allowed the Big 12 to expand previously so this gives the Big 12 leverage to say "Give us a bigger, better, competitive TV contact and let us grow the Big 12 or we are leaving".

      It's like Fox and the Big 12 had this insane belief that OU and Texas isn't the entire Big 12. You have to have those 2 happy.
      You could literally switch out any other teams, and as long as OU and Texas was there it could be rebuilt.
      But if they leave? The Big 12 is dead.
      Because no one else is going to want to stay there without them.
      Personally while it is sad to see the Big 12 die. But I feel like the real Big 12 has already been dead since Nebraska, Colorado, Mizzo and A&M all left.

    the way the 12 used to do the schedule when it was 12 teams, is the best way even with 16 teams. instead of a 4 year home and home turnaround schedule with half the other division each two years, it would be a 6 year turnaround. i think the math is right. maybe 8 years. and that eliminates the tenn/bama and whoever has vandy, annual mismatches.

    In reference to your discussion about how teams schedule games within the conference. Teams in the SEC has two games they play that’s out of their respective division. One permanent cross conference rival, example: A&M plays cross conference rival South Carolina; Missouri plays Florida etc., then teams, in West and East division, plays a team from the opposing division that rotates, example: Arkansas plays Georgia this year and a different SEC East team the next and vice versa. With OU and Texas coming in, I don’t see that rotation being disrupted other than readjusting conference division teams in the west and east. And the conference title game staying in Atlanta.

  • @dealexander8457
    @dealexander8457 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It is not going to happen because Texas is not going to share revenue, personally, I grew up with Oklahoma and Nebraska being national powerhouses in the regions of the great plains. In 1971 Nebraska beat Oklahoma 35-31and Nebraska beat Alabama 38-6; you could not pay nobody in the SEC or Big Ten to schedule a game with Oklahoma or Nebraska. At the end of the year Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Colorado finished 1,2 &3 in the AP poll. That is dominance, my friend. My guess is this a play on Fox Sports to get more primetime night games for the Big 12.

    I agree there could be some risk, but don't agree if they were in sec this year they wouldn't be number 1 in either division.
    The sec is top heavy. Recently it's mostly been carried by bama, lsu, and Georgia. Texas a&m/Florida/auburn has been middle of pack and the rest of the conference has been crap. LSU is trending down since that OC went to the Panthers. So I think they will be in the run for the conference champ every year still.
    Riley's excellent recruiting would be even better because they'd be in the sec.
    I think Texas will go independent rather than go to the sec because I think they would have to give up the longhorn network, which is the reason the big 12 started to go to crap in the first. With that and the big 12 not ever having Oklahoma's back is why we are finally looking to leave.

    I think this is just the beginning. Expect 4 more teams to join them with Ohio ST, Michigan, Clemson, Florida State and Notre Dame being the frontrunners. You could have 4 divisions with 5 teams each playing 9 conference games and each division could play a different division every year with a extra conference game thrown in for rivalries keeping things fresh and fair. From there they could just decide to have their own 4 to 8 team in-conference playoff every year and just break away from everybody else in the NCAA. This is my theory of whats going to happen.

    Slow down boys. Do the math. The coming 12 team playoff model means the Big 12 champion, and runner up, will likely be in every playoff. OU will not trade that, for a situation where the ONLY way to get to the playoff, is to beat Alabama. Never gonna happen. It's a DOWNGRADE to go to the SEC, in a 12 team playoff model.

    • @OK_Breakdown
      @OK_Breakdown  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      You're doing the wrong math. This is all about guaranteed TV dollars. SEC conference distribution would be massive with OU and Texas in it. It's all about money and longterm security.

    • @Tijuanabill
      @Tijuanabill 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@OK_Breakdown You might be right! I'm coming around on it, now that I realize in a 12 team playoff, the SEC will get at least 4 teams in. I'm pretty sure we can manage top 4 in the SEC, nearly every year.

      I agree 100% Texass would love the move because the chances OU stumbling are greater and Texass is tired of getting kicked by OU and the Big 12. Guess they would rather get kicked in the SEC. It is exciting to think about the games but giving into the mighty SEC is sell out move and Texas Judas Goating OU is disappointing.

    • @Tijuanabill
      @Tijuanabill 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's utter nonsense. Those teams are as good as anyone's middle tier team, but the thing that makes the SEC great, contrary to MU fans, is that they have 4 or 5 top tier teams, instead of 1 or 2, like other conferences. It's not all just Bama. They are top heavy, yes. But it's not just Bama. Come on with that...
