“She’s got lesbian hands. She could build a table.” Im fucking dying
I wouldn't mind her building a table on top of me, tbh. Cate Blanchett is just... perfection. She is perfection.
@@ReptilianTeaDrinker cate blanchett building tables on top of me is my new kink
"how does someone wake up and is disappointed to see Sarah Paulson" XD SAME
“Everyone is annoying except for Sarah Paulson”. Thank you so much for having me, amanda!
You’re comments throughout this video are hilarious xD you are amazing ❤️
"Why do rich people always talk like they're about to come." I almost peed my pants.
"why do rich people always talk like they're about to cum" lmaooooooooo.
thanks so much for this i was having a rough day and you cheered me up. merry christmas you guys. 💖
neptunian Bc it is mostly Cate who's doing it. Like ALWAYS. like even as Hela. *gay scream *
ayo I’m also here on Christmas, having a rough day but enjoyed the video. merry Christmas 6 years later!
What does it say about gay culture that we freak out over two women just touching hands? It's funny and also kind of sad how starved for representation we are.
Of course that’s true but I think in this case it’s more that the tension between these two characters is portrayed so well (and in such a hostile time) that even a brush of the hand sends tingles down one’s spine. Something doesn’t have to be explicit to be erotic, that’s how you know a film is doing something right :)
I think the subtle touching is more about the tension, longing and excitement .
Like, if you've ever liked someone a lot for a while before you tell them or they tell you there's this tension building up and it usually includes subtle touches like lingering touches with hands, they place their hand on your shoulder, rub your arm etc
"We know what those fingers will be doing later" I'm Dead😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
"Every time Cate Blanchett comes on screen I gasp" is me. like totally. 200%. gurl. i die.
I watched this film with my family and my grandma was like "is that Carol?" (about a random girl) and I was like uhh no Honey, you'll notice when she comes up because I will fucking scream then lmao
It’s not just the “I like the hat,” moment, it’s the little eye scan down Rooney Mara’s body that Cate throws in afterwards, that’s very, “OH MY....” [gay gasp]
this is AMAZING! We do the gay gasp whenever she comes on screen too, Cate Blanchett is just perfection.
Then I am not gay! I like Cate a lot but I do not gasp when I see her, I saw her live, in the Theater on Broadway. This here movie CAROL, I watched 5 times! The first I was falling asleep, just to try to figure out what the hoopla was about .
@@amidillard2113 I'm considering maybe therapy, why I don't react to some movie character while others, just THINKING about the characters bring me to tears, deep emotions.
@@amidillard2113 No. I LIKE Cate a lot, as an actress, but her gay Carol did not impressed me much. I think is the movie. I read the novel and it is better manipulating emotions, more realistic. Carol's letter in the book truly moved me deeply, not so much in the movie. But I know for a fact I am not emotional.
WHY WAS STEPH’S THE UNIVERSAL LESBIAN REACTION TO THE PIANO SCENE OH MY GOD
Manoela G I didn't have that reaction, but then I'd read the book twice. Highsmith clearly didn't like her characters as much as the film writer did.
Because if I had been 20 and some FINE older lesbian had touched me like that...likely spontaneous combustion at that point
@@jenniferh189 same, honestly. i would have burst into flames like a bloody phoenix
“May we all have the confidence of Cate Blanchett”.
PREACH SISTER!🙌🏼😂
I love how Amanda straight says "Cate Blanchett" instead of "Carol"
Because we all have a crush on mama Blanchett. At least I do since The lord of the Rings ;-;
Dear people who only watched the film:
The relationship makes more sense in the book, explaining that it took Therese and Carol more than just a couple days to have sex and fall in love. And the roadtrip is funnier and more interesting than in the film.
Please read the book.
Oh, if you like the characters in the film, don't read the book. I'd read it twice over the years. I love the film. It made Carol and Abby into much better people, especially Carol.
delennamachoo yeah that too. I first read the book in english and gotta admit i was confused by carol's actions (based on therese's perspective of her), being cold at first but then i understood her point of view
T. D. Sun Book, road trip began AFTER New Year and lasted like 2 months or so.
delennamachoo But the book is the original, Patricia's creations.
Is Therese this emotionless in the book? There's something so off about her.
The way Carol held that phone and whispered "ask me" was the ONE part that REALLY got me lmao
I swear when lesbians watching a gay movie judging by their reaction you'd assume they were watching the Superbowl😂😂😂 I literally fan girl shriek during this whole movie😍😍😍😍
"Carol's got game.
*GAYME*"
Omg
"Drink till the homophobia is gone", true words Girl Ship.
"She even got lesbian hands, She could build a table"
Better watch out ... IKEA
As a lesbian who lives in Iowa having Carol and Therese do it for the first time in Waterloo was like the greatest thing to ever happen. When I watched Carol for the first time I screamed when I saw the Waterloo sign. 😂
Cate Blachett and Sarah Paulson in Ocean's 8. SHIPPPPP IT NOW
Okay but Lou and Debbie, like just the characters. I ship them so badly lol
As soon as the movie starts Amanda looks like she's trying to get her body ready for all the gay.
I literally stopped breathing when Cate put her hands on her shoulders, omg
amanda did you REALLY have to point out Rindy and Therese have the same hair?? rEALLY?
Therese is young and innocent and, as she says, “doesn’t know anything” at the beginning of the movie. As they progress, this changes. After they have sex, and are caught, Therese has to cope with Carol having to leave. She has to move on and grow up. As Carol says when they’re reunited, “it’s as if you’ve suddenly blossomed.” Now, she changes her hair. She’s gone from being a child-like figure, an innocent girl needing Carol’s care, to an adult, fully realized, who doesn’t need Carol’s approval or comfort. She shows this by (at first) denying Carol’s offering of living together. She’s Carol’s equal, not her subordinate like Rindy is, so she no longer has the same hair as Rindy.
I made all this up.
I totally saw that the first time I watched the film too though.
“Her daughter has the same haircut as Therese.” OMG I WAS THINKING THE SAME THING TOO 🤣🤣🤣
If I'm not mistaken in the book Therese is described to look like her Rindy, it's a bit weird
This movie is sooooo good. Cate Blanchett is a baaaaabe. Watching this just makes me so gay.
"She's got like even lesbian hands... like she could build a table" 😂
I also love the book better, I absolutely cried of emotion reading it. One thing that struck me in the movie is that they never laugh out loud together, that made me disconnect and not feel like a real relationship.
angerock49 they laugh when they wake up the night after they sleep together and Therese asks what town they're in and Carol says "Waterloo" and then they both laugh.
grace crxmb thanks for the info! It didn't feel like enough fun of organic enough for me though :)
The 50's was a pretty laugh-free decade from what I've heard, everybody was pretty standoffish. I loved the book, too, but the movie had to be more dramatized, the book was pretty anti-climatic, so to speak. :)
They laugh at the restaurant when Therese gives Carol her gift, they laugh when they’re in the room together and Carol says “to president Mckinley,” and when they’re with Tommy the next morning. But you’re right, all of those times are rather subdued and it makes their relationship feel more cold than it really is.
"I can't wait for them to briefly touch hands" "oh it's mAgiCaL"
The quaking and silent screaming at 5:45 and so on has me dying with laughter. I love your channel.
And the screaming at 9:48😂😂
Oh man I need steph to come back for another one of these her reactions are priceless!
“Carol” made me realize how important representation really is. I didn’t know it before, then I saw myself in the big screen. It was an incredible moment!
Lmao my gf literally told me yesterday that it would be romantic if we died together. Didn't think anything about it. Lesbian love is crazy 😂
"Why do rich people always talk like they're about to come" I can't hhhhhhhh
"sarah paulsons in this" *GAY SCREAM*
SAME
god i love this movie, ive watched it so many times and read the book...
"i was on a date in the closet and the headmaster of my jewish school showed up" LMAO
glad we can all admire cate blanchett together
"challenge accepted" hahahahahahaha Carol got SO much game its like a guide book hahahahaha Amanda just killed me.
That’s why I didn’t understand Carol’s remark about never looking like Therese when she was looking at her naked! Are you kidding me? I’ve seen her naked….
What I love is that Carol gave Therese the gift of a suitcase. "Uh yeah, I already know that you're coming with me. The camera is just a bonus gift"
I’m a little offended they didn’t include the “flung out of space” scene
I died when she smells the fragrance on the neck instead of her wrist 😂
Steph's reaction to the perfume smelling is so good I fucking SHRIEKED when it happened
"Every time Cate Blanchett comes on screen, I gasp"
ME ME ME ME.
Was so excited waiting for this video to come out, I'm not disappointed
"she's got even lesbian hands...like, she could build a table"... DEAD LOL
This film nearly stopped my heart. Cate Blanchett is a Goddess!!! I too would stop dead in my tracks if she looked at me like that...or at all...
"Everyone`s annoying except Sarah Paulson" "Could be the name of this movie " i died, im dead 😂😂
OH STEPH best reaction ever
Person: what did you do today?
Me: *flashback to me binge watching drunk lesbians watch all day*
Me: nothing
LMAO Cate Blanchett literally taking Amanda's breathe away. I know the feeling Amanda, i know the feeling!!!
"I would love to be that shoulder" GIRL ME TOO GIRL 😂😂
Steph is by far the best co host. Love it
"She could build a table"
THIS close to spitting my water all over my keyboard
YESSSSSSSSSS! This is my favorite lesbian movie other than Bound. Which btw pleassse watch bound!
Jennifer Tilly is the best and ya definitely the gayest movie I absolutely love it
Cate Blanchett in person is even more beautiful and one of sweetest people that I have had the pleasure of meeting ❤️
Girls I would love to put subtitles on your videos in order to share your excellent channel with the Hispanic community. Just let me know if you're interested. Love you.
😘
English subtitles would also be great because as a non-native speaker it's sometimes really hard to understand what they say.
4 years and I'll always come back here lmao
Every time Cate Blanchett comes on screen, who DOESN'T gasp??? I certainly do!
You guys should watch The Handmaiden!!! It's AMAZING
Yaaas!!! 👌👌 One of the most beautiful film I've seen if not the best.
The Handmaiden is the Korean version/remake of Fingersmith and in my opinion is better than fingersmith. ps the endings are different
Girlfriends this story took place in the 50's. Therese and Carol did not have a language with which to express themselves like gay people do now. Therese has never had a lesbian relationship. I was born in 1951. I did not have a language for my emerging gay sexuality in the 60's. I recall what people said about gay people, and it was ugly. Aren't we lucky that now we can openly be ourselves?
You should have done a *gay gasp* counter 😂
They should! Also, gay gasping while watching Carol would be a very fun drinking game.
Ok I am alive for this kind of TH-cam contend ! Lesbians, Sarah Paulson, Cate Blenchett... that’s all I need in life.
Nicole W. You forgot Rachel Weisz, haha xD But other than that I’m totally with you ;)
Your commentary was golden in this one 😂
Every time I wanna watch carol but don’t have the energy I just watch this. Love u guys
I literally just binge watched all of these
“I went on a date in the closet and my headmaster of my Jewish school showed up”
Literally my life
Harold, they're lesbians.
“f*ck u group of people she was just figuring out her sexuality” omg haha
Has anyone seen the Kate McKinnon parody of Carol...
Tiggy Peebs I have and it’s absolutely HILARIOUS!!!! xD Can watch it over and over again and still roflmao ;)
Yes, it's funny as hell! And some great cameos with some lesbian icons in the business.
Having read the book, Cate Blanchett was such a perfect casting choice for Carol
i LIVE for the cate blanchett worship in this...... DEEPLY relatable
Whenever I need a laugh I come back to this episode. You and Steph are great together.
“Sarah Paulson could punch me in the face and I would be ecstatic” OMG SAME 😭
“You’re a wanker number 9!” Made me scream😭
Totally agree with the *gay gasp* for Cate Blanchett and the punch in the face that Sarah Paulson could give me! Great video!
I know this is a condensed version of them watching the whole movie but I'm surprised (and a bit disappointed) to not see the reaction of Carol saying "I love you" to Therese at the restaurant. Every time I watch that scene and the moment happens, my heart stops and then I start crying. Something I love about the film is it aches in this human, sometimes painful, and beautiful way. Like sometimes, like the restaurant scene, it's so beautiful and loving that it aches. And the film contains such emotion and feeling without sentimentality. You get your happy ending and your joy but by God the characters and the audience has earned it. Now I'm a straight guy who didn't read the book so I can't claim to be an expert on this story or the characters in it. But I love film, I love great film making, I love well done storytelling, I love great acting, I love music, I love romance, and I love something that makes me feel something. I think Carol excels in all of these fields and more. I believe it's one of the best romance films in the last 2 decades. It works as a great film and I feel they nailed it with the romance and pretty much everything else. And in modern movies they usually don't get the romance right and stumble in getting other things right as well. But Carol got it very right. I wish there were more films like it.
Beautifully said! I agree with you on everything, especially about the happy ending.
I love how the movie is also filled with angst, which is an accurate reflection of how it was for these two women to find each other and make their relationship work in such a constraint society.
Thank you based lesbians for this Christmas gift
I need a Carol in my life.
This has been my favourite drunk lesbians watch episode. Steph's reactions made me feel normal. Thanks guys!
"I can't think straight" A nod, I feel, towards the movie. Also, Steph's face at 2:27 made me crack up. Also, just all over, I LOVE the gay reactions from you two!!!!
8:38 "And other things are attractive" -> direct cut to Carol husky-voicing "me too" in the next frame
Wow. Yeah, she is.
And this entire video is just one big mood, thank you for sharing it!
“SHE CAN BUILD A TABLE” omg I died 😆😂😂😂
This series is a blessing to society. I just found it last night and i'm still watching it.
I lost count of how many times I have watched this video already. It's basically become my go to happy-place. Steph's reactions are 95 % me when I watched Carol for the first time, it was like looking in the mirror (I died laughing multiple times, oh god). And thanks to Amanda I have written the book now as well... and I might or might have not ordered a poster. Okay, I so have.
She has even lesbian hands, like she could built a table hahahahhahahahhahah OMG
the gasps when cate blanchett comes on screen are SO REAL kdjhskdk
*Why do rich people always talk like they're about to come* lmao
Omg, I LOVE you two!!! 😂😂😂 I’d stop in my tracks and pass out too if Cate looked at me that way! I saw Carol when released, but somehow became obsessed this Holiday. Even purchased the original book. Happy Holidays!!!
Dude this is an amazing react video, y'all are hilarious
I connect with Steph's reaction on a spiritual level
Watch "Saving Face".. it's my no 1 most favourite lesbian movie of all time ^_^
OMG that’s literally the best reaction video I’ve ever seen THANK YOU
I LOLed at Steph's reactions so hard 😂
Omg her freaking out when the music starts at the beginning is literally every lesbian everywhere including me 😂😂😂😂 LOVE this
