I'm excited about Battle Spirits Saga. Been awaiting the reveals they've been doing for Set 1 on Twitter (last week of reveals!) and planning my decks. Can't wait to for my boxes to arrive in April.
I ordered some Kamen Rider themed booster boxes of original Battle Spirits from Amazon Japan a couple years ago (because I'm a huge KR nerd) and I was hoping I'd eventually be able to learn how to play the game... and also learn how to read Japanese. Makes me a little sad that even if I could read those cards they might not be compatible with the balance of B.S.Saga, but at least now I understand the formatting. Thanks for the info Kohdok!
The main rules in terms of how to play BSS is the same but the deeper gameplay is different from the original. For example, when you reduce an opponents spirits BP to 0, it's destroyed. And when you reduce the cores of a creature, when destroyed cards are triggered. There are things like that which change how you play. Itll be interesting to see how they incorporate different mechanics from the Japanese game to here and when they'll bring what.
Yeah i remember this card game when i saw ads for it in gaming magazines, i was honestly hoping to find this in stores in my town, (They had ads that said it would be). And i was honestly stoked to see and play the game, buuuut heres to hoping maybe itll come around to the usa again.
Demo decks are definitely still a thing. That’s how I was introduced to the newly released One Piece TCG; someone at a shop teaches me how to play it, using non-legal demo decks. Also, the demo decks was in Japanese.
@@21quepasa the ones we were using has a watermark all over the cards. I think that’s a sign that the cards aren’t legal for tourneys, they’re probably just free decks to be given away to promote the game. Obviously, I can’t be sure though, as I can’t really read Japanese, we even had to constantly refer to the website for translations of the cards when we were playing it. Maybe these are different decks than the ones you have, idk.
Ah yes, Battle Spirits Bashin Dan. Still don't know why they gave him Topa's last name if they aren't related. But the show did start the legacy of Battle Spirts' version of Yugi Muto (hot take, I like Dan more than Yugi). So I can't wait for Battle Spirits Saga. I just hope I can find a card shop that will carry the game.
I still have the initial Battle Spirits starter set thingy. There was a coupon to get one for free in Shonen Jump. Actually, there were two of 'em, but for whatever reason I didn't use the second coupon, even though I do remember thinking "Oh, neat, I could probably sell the second one in the future."
what's funny is that, if you're caught up with JP Battle Spirits, most of the new stuff isn't even new. The burst mechanic and soul core have been around for a while.
I still have a starter deck I bought because the only battle spirt I consume was the anime never really played the card game but enjoyed watching the anime so spirt core and burst cards I remember already seeing in the anime. So Saga seem like a kaijudo. Same game but under a different name.

as an active player on the jp side of things a lot of mechanics were introduced in between there's even a current avatar change thing (hard to explain)
Do you think you will be covering more of this game? My friend and I just got into this game yesterday and you could no doubt be a big help in making decks and strategies
They've rebalanced some cards as well as changed a lot of effects. Some cards have entirely different effects like "Charged Draw" which could potentially net you 4 cards instead of just 2. Other than that its mostly the same just with more current mechanics.

Im actually really excited for this. The use of levels on spirits I feel is an interesting mechanic that keeps from wasting any “mana” on a turn

From what I was told the demo decks are legal and I've used some of the One Piece cards in decks

The soul core and burst mechanics actually aren't new, battle spirits has those.
