Thanks for the coverage Terry. 'Tis very much appreciated. Wow - it is awesome to see Will play again. I have missed him! Watch his standing shot at 1:25 at quarter speed. Let it creep forwards tapping the space bar to pause it. This is the best standing form of any disc golfer who ever played the game in my opinion. That technique is utterly perfect. The shot turns out really badly for him, though. :( Now watch a similar standing shot from Paul at 2:25. Same deal. But Paul opens his hip too rapidly, resulting in him having to extend his elbow early, and to round a lot during his elbow extension. That shot dropped a little left, but with the distance he was seeking. This demonstrates how talent and mental condition often beats technique, and that you need a lot more than great form to get to (and stay at) the very top. You need talent. And you need a coach. And you need to work really damned hard. And you need a bit of luck, too. Something which is often discounted, but is a real factor. I think we'll see Will at the very top again, and I eagerly await his performance at the Worlds.
I think Will is going to have to work on his putting to be at the top again. He air balls more than any top pro I have seen in a while. Ricky and Paul (at full health) put on putting clinics compared to Will. Also there are young guns coming up like Drew Gibson and Eagle to compete with. Let's also mot forget about Simon coming back next year, I think Will needs to putt and play harder than ever next year if he wants to be anywhere near the top.
