If someone else plays this again in the future, here's a tip that might help: When you see glitched adepts move across the map those are actually DTs. We found that out when they arrived. :) Also, do prepare a strategy beforehand, we thought we were supposed not to and just play normally. :)
His apm being double their combined apm is just too funny. And you know they’re both locked in barely talking while harstem is just chit chatting over everything. Poor gamers.
@@gregsalisbury4967 It is still the top 20% of starcraft players, a lot of people just can never reach that level at all. It took me like 8 years to make it platinum, and maintain myself there, which was always my personnal goal.
I'm surprised they're diamond, honestly, when I saw that Senju had 79 apm and Duckier had 109. I'm Diamond 2, and whilst I have met some low apm players that play well before, overall the average apm of Diamond is somewhere around 150.
Hey man, I’ll always appreciate a person I see with 100-ish apm than a person with an obviously inflated 300 apm that they got from spamming hotkey groups while doing absolutely nothing.
This was really fun to watch! Hopefully, the next pair of challengers will come prepared and put more pressure on Harstem. Looking forward to more such content!
We didn't even know if it was gonna be Archon or 2v1 until we were in the lobby and we agreed to not prepare something that abuses the 2v1 situation.. or we probably would have both cheesed.
Playing against 2 diamond players with Map hack isn't _that_ different from playing against two diamond players without map hack. Low- diamond is where players discover the minimap exists and, if they're really focusing, they might even use it occasionally. As a low diamond player myself, I can't tell you how many times I've seen someone get "surprised" by something that they had full vision of or had scouted in advance.
One thing about these challenges is they often play like 1v1 players would, we know from people like uThermal, HeroMarine, and Harstem that it is easy enough for the pro player to hold off and get into an advantageous game state through their skill alone. If you have ever played 2v2 and had an enemy leave right at the start, you might have realized that it is not the time to be playing normally anymore, that one player that is left now has boosted economy and can easily leverage that into a terrifying army. What you need to do in this scenario is not let them take advantage of that economy, how you do this is by taking advantage of their build times through the tech tree, which is not accelerated by that economy. They may have more tech and more production, but they still take the same amount of time to get to any individual tech. The answer is usually to rush them before they rush you. I would bet, in this specific scenario where you are 2v1 against a non-boosted economy, the best strategy is simply to have one player probe rush or SCV rush, and the other player has multiple barracks or gateways proxied. The single player will have a difficult time holding off the worker rush specially in the instance of a probe rush where the rusher can leverage the shield regen for a prolonged aggression, the single player will not be able to mine enough in order to stabilize and hold off the secondary rush.
I always wondered why the slower players don't just lock their bases down with cannons in the mineral lines. If you negate the dt and oracle aggression it seems like you could rely on 400 supply vs 200. I might be wrong tho.
If they had just 4gated both it would have been 2-0 to them, its even a diamond build, but you can mix it in 1with 1 robo and 1 stargate each and make 3units out of it and smash very hard, 2 eco vs 1 eco.
Nice series! I'd like to play against you as Zerg...on 2 vs 1. I have been around 3300 MMR on EU. I don't know about the map hack part tho... how can it be done?!
I don't think that their plan should be to macro out of anything, they will lose the long game every time. I'm thinking one hits you hard and fast with an early all-in, which you will hold, and right behind that the other hits you with a slightly later and much stronger all-in, which you may not hold.
Those are DTs, the mod makes them look like glitched adepts when you don't have detection. It confused the heck out of us in game 1, adept moves across the map and then when it arrives we can't attack it.. because it's actually a DT. :D
It would be how the maphack mod gets around the fact that you can't see invisible units without detection. It "reveals" them by showing another visible unit on top of them
Map hack part looked like it had not impact on the game. Maybe we need the opponents to record as well and we can get some POV shots of them during key moments.
It feels like they are lower mmr, or haven't palyed in a while, or they don't play team games at all, or maybe the difference is so big that it make it look like that, lol

I was surprised to hear Harstem say he expected one player to be aggressive proxy 2 gate and the other play 1 gate expand. When I played SC2 I was around 4K MMR peak but usually around 3600 to 3800 and if I was one of the diamond players here I would say there is no way he can hold both of us doing proxy 2 gate zealot or there is no way he can hold both of us going 4 gate. Is that not the case? I feel like you simply don't have enough units. If you have enough sentry energy to hold off the double four gate forever at your ramp we just contain you and expand, and I think the proxy zealot just rolls anything even with Harstem having much better control.
It's possible that they decided to just play normally, that would make better content, but if you just both do an aggressive cheese I'm not sure the micro and build order/mechanics diff is enough to overcome.
These guys are right about at my level. I'm not surprised it's super easy if the game goes more than a few minutes. I'd think they could plan some kind of super fast rush though, when even with inferior macro they should have close to double the units - which even with inferior micro should be enough to win, no? I mean the extreme would be a worker rush, but that'd basically be cheating.
These guys are really giving diamond league a bad name. How do they not build a couple cannons and leave a couple units in the mineral lines vs oracles and DTs that they can SEE building and running over! Lmao
