Morten, I also use the Peak Design strap - and I have found that keeping a spare anchor button on one end of the strap is useful. When I take the camera off, I can then clip the two ends of the strap together and leave it around my neck without losing it. (I lost one in Germany before I came up with this fix!)
Today I wish I wasn’t disabled more than at any other time with my photography, I can’t think of anything I'd like better than an adventure with you two. As a nature photographer the Galápagos Islands and the Amazon are the ultimate. It will be a dream come true for many people. That trying to make your strap black, changing your etc sounded just like me. The best strap I have are on my Swarovski bins and scope. Very comfortable and very easy to adjust etc. It’s great to see photography Friday back, it’s been missed and this video is brilliant.
The later PD strap has locks. but what a lot of people do not understand is the strap has 2 sides,1 side is for gliding over your clothing and the opposite side is a non slide surface
Fast-forward three years... 🤣 They finally make an olive / army green Slide... Woohooo!!!... Thanks for the nice presentation, I waited so long to finally be able to order the one I actually wanted! Stay safe. 👍🏻
the trip sounds exciting - I moved here year ago and am out shooting and leading tours all the time - you are more than welcome to pop in -- down in the Intag Valley in the heart of the Andes
You can always put down your deposit and hold a space, you don't need to make the final payment until 3 or 4 months advance. As of right now, I don't think I'll be going, but December 2019 is a long way away. Enough time to save up.
I love this Peak Design strap and their clip system. It's the perfect everyday strap. When I use a heavier lens like a 70-200, I use the Black Rapid Sport Breathe.
I have been to the Galápagos Islands and had the best time ever! Make sure you are able to go onto the actual islands and don't have to stay on a boat! Can't wait to see your photos from there, I am definetely going back! Also, astrophotography should be amazing there.
Thanks Morten for this video, I don’t know this strap but I think it’s amazing. I always have problem whit straps when use my sidekick, the one on the body and the other on the 300 2.8, now I’m wating for my new strap, hope it could arrive before weekend. Thanks again for your work. Bye
I agree with all points of your analysis of the Peak Camera strap. Everything's perfect, except for the rather slippery catch mechanism. I like the smoothness of the strap, so Peak, if you're listening, try to develop some sort of EASY lock mechanism, so it doesn't move.
I used one of those for a trip to UK last year. I am a firm supporter of the Peak Design strap. I believe it’s well thought out and manufactured. Your observation about a secondary lock to prevent any creep is a really good one. Thanks Morton!
Hi Morten. If you are any time near Drammen, would be great to meet you. I have just moved here (about 30 mins away) from England and absolutely love the landscape that we have around here.
Hello Morten. Equador and Glapagos - it will probably not be better. I was there 4 years ago and I would like to go there again. Equadors cloud forests are an absolutely indescribable place with orchids and hummingbirds. And Galapagos is every nature lovers paradise. The animals on land as well as in the sea are trustworthy and easy to photograph. I understand that you are looking forward to it. I would terribly like to see the places again with you. But it will not be this time - but maybe the chance will come again :-)
I have chosen the black one ;) And the D780 in combination with the 200-500 Nikon lens. After a very long time with Canon I have changed to Nikon. Inspired by your videos, and Stephan Wiesner's reviews... I love your videos, thank you for all your work. It's really great!
Good video Morten, think PD will be my strap of choice as just about to get a decent camera strap. But I also like the jacket you are wearing - any chance you would be kind enough to let me know the manufacturer and jacket type/title. Will watch more of your videos as only just discovered your channel. Best regards....Andy B.
Thanks for this nice tip. Galapagos next time, sounds so interesting ???? Understand very well that this sold out this quickly. (.......anyway nice place and nice cap........ hope it is warm..... LOL)
Hello Morten, I,m back watching again! Your too good to miss...... I also use this strap and have two. Mine do not slip. I wonder if yours is faulty? My camera bag is almost like yours heaving Nikon’s, 5 in total and many lenses influenced by your videos. Get videos. You improved my photography lots, thanks. TonyH
I have a similar strap made by Peak Design . I've not had anything heavy on it that would pull the strap but I can see how it is possible. I bought this before heading out to Utah. It worked very well!
Fantastic video and location. i have 2 questions for you as i myself is planning to go for peak design straps , 1) where to have the connections for a Nikon D500 + 500mm PF setup 2) please share the fluid head you are using in this video?
The peak design strap is perfect but put tape on the metal part. It will scratch you equipment. I would probably connect it to the heaviest of the two. The head is a Manfrotto. 502 i think i is called
Hi Morton... Peak Design sell just the connecting clips so your Nikon,Canon,Sony etc straps can still be used to great effect, they come in packs of four camera clips with two strap clips, around the £20 price range. Best Wishes...
What awesome announcement!! I'm from Equador and I'm a film and photography student and I follow you since the beginning. You are my inspiration to wild photography in my dear country. I'm 19 years old and I'm so exited! I wish I could do this trip with you! Greetings from Equador!
How do you attach te strap to the lens, my lens only has e tripod foot and attaching it at that point would make it impossible to put the camera on a tripod.
The thingies attached to your camera are Anchors, I have Anchor Links attached to my favourite camera camera straps so I can use them with the Peak Design Anchors. Thanks for sharing your video.
Good stuff. I've been pleased with almost all my Peak gear (except for the too small and hard medium pouch thingy). Neat about the Galapagos, I'm looking forward to it!
A great camera strap. Unfortunately a little short. I use the equivalent from Smallrig with a length of 160cm. If this strap were longer, I would change immediately because I think the anchor loop system from Peak Design is more secure. Unfortunately, both systems are similar but not really compatible.
I have been using the Peak straps for a couple of years, and they are the best thing since sliced bread! I have 4 cameras, and 2 of the straps, but have the end pieces on all the cameras. It takes me seconds to swap one of the straps to whichever camera I need...
The strap seems easy to use. I have considered one but with basically a strap the rides across. your shoulders every time you reposition your camera keeps me from trying it. Except for the ease of connecting and disconnecting from you camera or lens, which I do appreciate, it looks like other straps I have used that bind on my shoulder. Not having a locking mechanism is a real problem, having experienced the frustration of similar equipment that hods its position. However, as you said, if it works for you, that is what counts. Thanks for sharing.
I have this strap but never find the catch slides down like your's has, however the steel spring clips get rusty after a while and also the strap digs into my shoulders when I carry my Great White lens and camera (EF400 f/2.8 which weighs 6.5kg)
haha sry ignore me but I just happened to start playing this vid 1:45 in / all I see is a super huge lens followed by hearing him say - Sometimes when Im shooting a smaller lens - as he taps his current setup as if to indicate this is a time when he is shooting a smaller lens. Anyway just having fun! hehehe just posting a comment rather than just passing through - to say Hi!
Hi Morten, at 3m 52s you don't say how you attach to the big lens. I just paid Nikon £500 to fix a faceplate problem and I suspect it is because i carry Z9 and 180-600 by Body! , so looking to either go Black Rapid sling or add links to the lens - (where & how )do you attach them to the lens without losing your lens foot so you can put on a tripod ???!?
Nice review Morten. I have the same strap (in black) and agree with every comment you have made. Brilliant strap but it does slide down depending on the weight of the equipment you have, I use a D810 with either a D300mm or D80-200mm and the strap slides with these attached. I imagine it would be simple for Peak Design to implement some form of locking device on the strap, it would then be perfect.
Also changed to the Peak Design this spring and that was the best buy I did in years. No more fiddling with different straps or keeping track of tripod plates. Hmm weird about the gliding, never had the issue even thou Ive done some crazy stuff with it, never glided. Tried another strap to be sure? Thanks for the tip about the tape and cold, will do so too. 2019 seems to be amazing times. Nice to watch your vids again. Great fun and thanks for the amazing photages! PS! Was fun to watch you doing some landscape photography in Greece to :D
I purchased a Peak Design camera strap for my mirrorless camera for a trip in March and then immediately purchased another for my Canon. My next camera bag will be from Peak Design.
I don't like the PD strap, because it has no cushioning in the neck, has one width throughout, which I find too wide near the camera and the metal adjustment is clunky. I've settled for the OP/Tech Pro Strap with a set of Uni-Connectors (the short ones, that detach just like with the Peak Design and some Extension Connectors between the Unis and the Pro Strap. The beauty of the thick neoprene in the neck is, that it really relieves stress in the neck like no other strap I've tried with heavy gear for hours walking around. Some ppl. here might want to give it a try.
There is videos on here where you can get rid of the metal bits on your camera and put the anchors straight to the metal hoop on camera stops that clanking noise it makes
Also been using peak strap and it is great!! My lens is only 200 mm - so I do not have the problem of it getting longer by itself 😂 The photo adventure sounds amazing, wish I could go with you
Hllo Morten, thanks for this video but you do not explain how you attach this strap to the lens itself. Those two little parts with round plastic parts, how and where did you fix it to the lens ? Is it screw ? Will appreciate your reply Thanks again
Thank you Morten, after seeing this video I purchased a Peak strap, it came with mk3 connectors but Peak are replacing these foc (see their web site for this) with the new mk4’s. I would loved to have had a blue one instead of black 😂 all that aside, the strap is brilliant, the best I have ever used, thank you for recommending it, i owe you a coffee, I guess 😊
Hello Morton. I have the exact same strap. Very good. A few years since you did this video. Did you have any problems attaching the strap to the lens and the body? I assume for hiking. Thought perhaps connecting both anchors to the lens. Enjoyed the video. Hit subscribe.
I'm sure you could have just gotten the black one instead of the blue limited edition. Or save some and just get the quick release system (Peak Design Anchor Links for Camera Straps (AL-3)) and use it with the strap shipped with your camera. That's what I did. For 20€ It's win win.
I don't have quite the lens that you do but would love this for my Tamron 150-600mm. However, not sure how this would attach to the lens. I noticed that your Nikon 600mm lens has loops that you attach the tabs to. Anyone use this strap with another lens?
Hey Morten, I am a 14 year old wildlife photographer and I have saved up for a second Nikon body. I currently have the aps-c D7500 but am trying to decide between a used d4 or a D500. Any advice? Thanks!!
Is that a new tripod head I see there - please fill us in. I should have know that you want another of these straps as I gave the one I bought away - just shows that we’re all different...
YAY! I was missing you, along with the rest of us! Greetings to your mom, and have a great & fun weekend in Norge. As Brendan says…“Peace!” UPDATE: The expedition has sold out!! Congratulations! :)

Stay safe. 👍🏻
Love the Peak Design hand strap for my camera, too. The bags, not as much. Dropped a lens out the side once.
It is the best strap! I saw it on one of Brenda Petrella's videos and got one for myself. I love it!
the trip sounds exciting - I moved here year ago and am out shooting and leading tours all the time - you are more than welcome to pop in -- down in the Intag Valley in the heart of the Andes
Galápagos is amazing news Morton!! Super pumped to see your Vlogs from that experience. Here’s to a great 2019!!!
Are you going too Greg? I'm trying to figure out the budget to do it.
You can always put down your deposit and hold a space, you don't need to make the final payment until 3 or 4 months advance. As of right now, I don't think I'll be going, but December 2019 is a long way away. Enough time to save up.

WHAT AN AMAZING LANDSCAPE! BEAUTYFUL!
I love this Peak Design strap and their clip system. It's the perfect everyday strap. When I use a heavier lens like a 70-200, I use the Black Rapid Sport Breathe.
I've got Peak Designs Slide Lite strap and I love it.
Galapagos Island and the Amazon - what a great trips it will be!!
Your strap is the old version I think Morten, the new one does not come in red or blue, but the locks for the adjustments are improved.
I have been to the Galápagos Islands and had the best time ever! Make sure you are able to go onto the actual islands and don't have to stay on a boat! Can't wait to see your photos from there, I am definetely going back! Also, astrophotography should be amazing there.

Ive got this strap a few months ago and don't want to miss it anymore. It's great!
A similar one is made from op tech. They have an Adapter strap with carabiner hooks to attach on backpack d Rings. I love this system

Thanks for the great review, I’m trying to figure out how you attached an anchor to your lens, how?
Got same strap in red, best strap I’ve had. Flip over strap and it has sticky shoulder area if needed.

Hello morten I love watching you . I started the photography .because I was watching you . Likes from TURKEY :)
I have the same problem with that lock system!!! But it's a fantastic camera strap!!!
It's just a lever, not a lock. Try using a big paper clip. It will keep it from moving easily.
Hi Morton... Peak Design sell just the connecting clips so your Nikon,Canon,Sony etc straps can still be used to great effect, they come in packs of four camera clips with two strap clips, around the £20 price range. Best Wishes...
Really overpriced tho I feel
One of the awesome things about peak design is that they have a couple of plates that work with tripod mounts.
Love my Peak Design. Mine never slips. Wonder if tape is causing that.
Jim

Is it possible please to show or write wich model and company is the tripod you’re using in this video ?? Thanks appreciated!

How do the connecting points attach to the glass?
Great video Morton - you didn’t have a flask of coffee with you! 🤣
Also been using peak strap and it is great!! My lens is only 200 mm - so I do not have the problem of it getting longer by itself 😂
The photo adventure sounds amazing, wish I could go with you
Same here. I just tried it and not matter how hard I pull on it, it stays in place.
Sir this is a great video and the anunce ment so good ..waiting for Sunday ...

Sure Ecuador is the best option to take pictures and cover many places around.

Is really really nice Morten congratulations
I have the same strap but in Red. My only complaint is that there is no cross body clip to keep it secured on my back.

I'm wonderinf the same for the exact same lense. Have you find a solution for that ?
@@Tezorus Unfortunately no.
@@GeekRex i was thinking about mounting a two side plate on the holding pad of the lense since i put it on top when i shoot by hand. Might work
Just bought this strap thanks to your review 🙂
Where in Norway are you? Enjoy your stay :) Winter has arrived in Romsdalen.
@Daniel Mann 10:09 :)
How is the clip attached to the lens body? Hard to see on the video. Thanks
Let the manufacturer know, they seem very on top of things. Just bought a black one :)
Waiting for your new video sir ......and this vudeo is mind blowing ...
I have the same problem with the strap locking mechanism slides
Sounds like an awesome adventure! Someday perhaps I'll be joining such a group.
Nice strap but as you say Morten, it needs to lock in place. I will order one and adjust that part so that it does, I will let you the fix.
Waiting for next adventurous trip!!
Sir please suggest entry level camera for daily life usases
👌👌👌👌👌love your videos brother
Hi from Seychelles
Good one, i looking forward to your sharing video. Thank!
Hey Morten!
I was wondering if you are making the switch to canon. Since I haven't seen canon gear in the last videos. Thanks in advance!
Doesn't Peak offer a lifetime warrenty? Send the faulty strap back
Der er sådan lidt Peter Ingemann over dig. Fantastisk!
Wow your videos art really nice. Found them by chance. Greetings from luxembourg.
Look out for the small warblers in Norway
Hey guys, is the strap sliding still an issue with this in 2023? Thanks
I know this comment is coming a bit late (just 5 years :P) but have you tried the new version of the Peak Design and is it still good to buy this?
Hey Morten, I am a 14 year old wildlife photographer and I have saved up for a second Nikon body. I currently have the aps-c D7500 but am trying to decide between a used d4 or a D500. Any advice? Thanks!!
Daniel Mann, thanks, it’s good for me to know too. Good luck with your passion!!
Great Review for Sure
Hi Morten! What is the head that you are using in this video?
Joe Saraceno a manfrotto fluid head of some sort. Check the nitrotech
Hej Mårten hur fäster du fästöglan på objektivet?
take a small pc of bicycle tire make a small band to stop your strap from sliding.
Hi
It maybe me and I missed it but where did you get your camera strap from?
Cheers
you are probably one of the most extreme users out there lol super super super heavy duty user
Can someone tell me which tripod head this is please?
