Just sat listening to the noise of you lads building a wall and having a bit of a crack on while I’m sat on the loo in peace having a dump. What a morning. Cheers for the upload.
I enjoy watching your videos, I’m a retired bricklayer in Michigan in the US and it’s very interesting to me how you do things there. Just about all of the principles are basically the same but still different if you know what I mean. What I do enjoy is your temperament, cool, chill, and just going at it one at a time smooth and steady. The companies I worked for (35 years) was always balls to the wall we need a thousand brick in the wall a day. Keep up the great work!
I built a pond just from watching your videos and This week I laid some coping stones for my parents on top of their wall as well The fact you get paid to do this work is ace mate because when I'm mixing or laying I almost go into a trance like when ya going for a long run with headphones in. Didn't think I'd enjoy hard graft as much as I do, I'd be building every day if I could
For anyone struggling with life as an ageing bricklayer. Get a smaller trowel and a thor 30ish mm nylon hammer. Lay out your mortar as accurate as possible. Use the hammer when you're struggling. Look after your wrists
Same with plastering, a young plasterer buys these long 18" mashaltown trowels...which take about 2 years to break in to be used as a finishing trowel.....20 years later you have arthritus, rheumatism in the wrist or shoulder etc.....stay with a medium or small!
Now I’m not a meat and veg man but this fella just Oozes f/cking coolness he’s so cool when he works just breezes along makes it look so f/cking easy I’m surprised that water in that bucket didn’t turn to ice
Surely with your big following you could go into private work and still make a decent wage? It seems so much nicer than dealing with site agents, hi vis and hard hats. Plus the jobs are a lot more varied too.
Oh no!!! Rob Songer going to be worried now Charlie 😁 Love working with Lime. Better than cement and cures with carbon dioxide. Tools clean up easier too.
Constructive comment mate, when you’re working with lime you need to make sure all of the internal joints are filled before you start the next course. Labourer should be throwing a shovel of mortar on the course when it’s run through for the two of you to pack into the core before you raise the lines. Voids cause capillary action that will suck water in and cause leaching on the joints in time. The after care is also a huge thing. Always learning sure.
You of kept the old imperial bricks, a sod to lay but look better, last longer and by far better quality. These ones we ues on new build will be gone and the old Victoria ones will still be going strong
Hey Charlie, I'm not a bricky, just like watching your videos so sorry if this questions bs. It looked like you were doing pick and dip on that first course but then not on the next one. Was that right and if so why?
The reason you can’t work as hard if you’ve been gym is because you’re not eating enough bro, fill yourself up with protein and carbs and you’ll recover faster, I’m a Scaff and go gym at 3:30am then go work at 5 till sometimes 8/9pm then all again the whole week,
Don’t forget to like the video 😊
Ozzy here bro, fuck you're good 👍💪🤘
The GOAT of the bricklaying world, I've been bricklaying for 37rs now and can't lay bricks like you, brilliant to watch mate 😊😊

You need to cover those walls with wet hessian to give the lime chance to cure, the sun and humidity will dry it out before it has chance to cure, 😂😂😂
No worries thats the best bit Charlie play and bail mate sounds good that does .lovely lime work mate awesome 👌 🧱🧱
The number one brick layer above all others buy none and a lovely bloke too
Are there any downsides, other than more cuts, to keeping the headers and stretchers in the same place on both sides of the wall please

Something very different. Nice to see a bit of flemish bond in lime muck
That bond is twisting my swede 😂
Got to be better than site bashing
You can mark all your tools with a little bunny with x’d out eyes. 😂
Collison, you mice and men'd a baby rabbit? Jeez xD

Flemish wall, don't forget to spit in the mixer

That brings back memories when you could get a thousand a day in by lunchtime even better if it was rough work
Great job, enjoy Germany
if Heineken did garden walls this is it

I’m curious what makes a brick last longer, and what makes them better quality
Good man but remember it will catch up with you. So beginners bend your knees. 👌😫😫

Shows that Charlie is in a league of his own
2.5 sharp : 1 lime, NHL 5?
Nice to see you diversifying a bit.
A good bricklayer should be on 25-30 ph. As long as it’s done tidy. Price work has gone for me. It ruined me. Young and hungry. 🤷🏻♂️
