  • A Needle Minders is a sewing notion used by stitchers as a tool to that holds the sewing needle, securely and safely, to the work surface. It's a temporary place to rest a needle while taking a break from stitching.
The needle minder uses 2 magnets to hold both the minder in place on the fabric surface, as well as the needle to the minder itself.
Needle Minders can be purchased at fabric stores as well as online, but it is possible to create one using industrial glue, 2 magnets, and a "top piece" for the minder. This top piece can be a well loved object, a favorite button or bead, or even an piece of artwork.
In the video, I'll show various objects to use as the needle minder top, - some are found in most sewing rooms - buttons, beads, embroidery floss spools, while others are a bit unique: tennis vibration dampener, balsa wood sign, watercolor painting on paper, purse charm.
Follow along and then create your own needle minder to add to your sewing notions.

Wonderful idea. I love repurposing items. These would make great Mother's Day gifts or an item to go in a needle book. TFS

Great ideas and easy to make. A lot less expensive than buying them already made. Thanks!

This is fabulous Daniela thank you for sharing this clever idea with us. I love cross stitching and embroidery but have never bought needle minders. I can't wait to make some of these. They would make great little gifts for creative friends too. ❤

Thanks for watching! It's funny, because now I look around my house (and purse) and see lots of things I could use for the needle minder!

Thank you I would never have thought about making my own needle minders. They are a bit pricy in the shops.

Glad I could help! And, I too, find them very costly.

What a great video! I used to collect magnets to stick on the fridge from back in the 80's! I still have them and finally a good use for them. I did stick a magnet in my pin holder which keeps them together even if it falls on the ground. One thing about magnets though - keep them away from your electronic devices or in the long run one day you will get a nasty surprise! Thanks again for a great video!

Great idea for the treasured fridge magnets. And yes, magnets are great, but precarious with various electronics and credit cards.
