    I heard from someone who's been in the industry for many years say "they don't call it SHOW business for no reason" - implying that part of the show (to the client) is just seeing a big crew and big camera. On a shoot recently I heard the client say "they always bring the big camera for our projects" - despite the fact the particular camera we were using was super old and not nearly the quality of the tiny gh5 - the client was happier that the camera was big. In the end - they only watch the video in HD and it doesn't matter what you shoot it with - because creatives know how to use any tool to get the job done right. That said - client perception does matter. Even if you win just 1 extra job because of your gear, it pays for "professional looking" rig setups like this many times over.
    That said - investing in an actual Arri or RED just to look professional? Few clients will ever know the difference between that and the 400mbps 4k on the gh5 - and most won't justify the budget for the truly bigger camera. The GH5 and this rig? For sure! Nice work. :)

      Minneapolis Video Production Company - Provid Films thanks Travis! It is strange to see that happening but it’s very true! Last client wanted to see a whole bunch of shooters when in reality we don’t need so many different shooters. I also saw a friend who made a short film and when I saw the behind the scene the director of photographer was just hand holding a small canon dslr! It just looked funny even though we all know the out come will still be the same whether you use a big rig or hand held!

    Hey man! No idea if you're still using this rig, but boy do I have a tip for you. If you get a magic arm for the monitor and a quick release plate for the shoulderpad, you can put the baseplate on the shoulderpad and move the whole rig back onto your shoulder a bit more. Your back and arms will thank you. Great vid, keep it up!

    @ 1:47 in the video it looks like you might have forgotten to render because that looks like a warp stabilizer warning banner is still showing. But no worries, because seriously (done is better than perfect. PM ) Keep up the good work and thanks for the video.

      You can set up in your premiere/media encoder preferences to not allow the video to render if there are effects that still need to be analyzed.

    Hello Myoung! Fellow guitar player here! I have a Panasonic G7 but have the itch to upgrade to a GH5 or GH5S. The purpose will be to record myself playing guitar, original songs, covers etc. Camera should be on a tripod. I am looking for some advice. I like shooting mostly in low light or with the aid of artificial lights. Coming from the G7, do you think the Rokinon DS 35mm should be a good buy for the G7 for what I want? Should I go for the GH5s since it's know for its great performance on low lighting? I mainly want the camera for filming, photos will be occasional. I know there isn't right or wrong but any feedback will be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

    • @CameraToFreedom
      @CameraToFreedom  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chuchu what’s up Chuchu! Definitely upgrade to g7. I had the g7 and it’s an awesome camera for sure but if you can upgrade then do it. Yes that rokinon 35mm is amazing but if you’re going to be filming yourself the. I recommend getting a lumix lens so you can use the autofocus otherwise you won’t be too sure you’re in focus looking at the tiny screen from a distance. I love the gh5 stabilizer so I didn’t want the gh5s that doesn’t have internal stabilizer.

    Cool. I am considering buying a Rokinon 35 (Samyang in UK) and a useful tip about buying Nikon mount I hadn't considered. Seeing as I already have the speedbooster for my other Nikon lenses this looks like the way forward. How do you find the follow focus, I am looking for one right now but wondering whether to go wireless to be able to use on a gimbal/slider?

    Haha...a tulip with a matte box. Why do you think the focus blows out at lower t-stop?

    • @CameraToFreedom
      @CameraToFreedom  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      james scott lol you caught that tulip wit the matte box! Attention to details James. I think it blows out on lower t stop because it’s cheap. It’s affordable and great for the price but that’s the price you pay for going cheap.

    Don’t use the lens hood if you’re using a mattebox. I looks silly and the lens cap is useless in that situation.

      I don't believe it is removable on the Rokinon lenses. I've heard of some cats cutting them off for this reason.

    I recently purchased SLR 1.33x anamorphot 40 and combo it with Rokinon 35mm 1.4.. man..talking about cinematic especially shooting at 400mbp in VLog.

    • @CameraToFreedom
      @CameraToFreedom  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Artemus80 J. That is a cool combo! Just the right combo so you barely get any vignette! How low do you have to bring your t-stop so get a decent sharpness and still get a cool bokeh?

    • @artemus80j.4
      @artemus80j.4 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks man. Based on my test F 2.8 is just right for me where the sharpness is just right and the bokeh is at a tasty level. With the speed booster that would be equivalent to 1.8 I'm guessing.
      I actually bought the anamorphot with slr magic cine III 25mm 0.95 ( for M4/3), really awesome lens but what surprises me was that when I test them side by side with Rokinon wide opened at 1.4 and SLR magic 25mm at 0.95, the T- stop for Rokinon was so damn close to 25mm wide opened. So yes your advice on choosing a non M4/3 lens with SB is spot on!

    do all 85mm look blurry when wide opened ? is the adapter such as a viltrox or speedbooster a must ? i didnt hear anyone before saying that 1.5T was bad

    • @CameraToFreedom
      @CameraToFreedom  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Laurențiu Derecichei I also have a nikon 85mm f1.8 that’s super sharp. I’ve been reading that other Rokinon 85mm owners also has blurry videos when wide open but it does go away if you close it a little. At 2.8 it’s very sharp. Even without the speed booster it’s blurry at t1.5. But that’s what you get when you buy the cheapest 85mm you can find. Can’t expect it to be amazing at such a cheap price. Still a good lens!

    I have the gh5 with the metabones sb and want the get a kit of 25,35,50 & 85. So on the rokinon cine I would have to get a 12mm, 20mm, 25 or 35 and what would be the equivalent to an 85? Correct me If I'm wrong in any of them

    • @CameraToFreedom
      @CameraToFreedom  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      JJKicks360 if you’re using a metabone one for canon or nikon lens for gh5 then you can get the 25, 35, 59 and so on. If you’re buying lumix lens then you need the 20mm to have the full frame 35mm field of view.
