    I just found these videos. Very well done.
    I retired this month at 62. My wife will retire at 60 next year. We currently have 1.8 million in tax deferred Investments, my pension, and no bills other than the basics.
    We did this by following most of the things these guys talk about.

      My big question that no one covers is regarding health insurance. If you are not receiving it from an employer and are not eligible for Medicare, how do you find affordable healthcare? Isn’t it just as much as a car payment? I’m really worried about that. Thanks 🙏🏽

      O Bailon you would just invest the 6k you have and contribute the 4k later when you have it available or add what you can to your account per paycheck or monthly. Whatever works best. I have a Roth IRA through my employer but I went and opened an investment account with vanguard on the side and invested the 10k in ETF’s and stocks.

      The "advantage" is the dividend not the stock appreciation as other stocks appreciate also or depreciate. Also, many experts say dividends are accounted for in the price of the stock so it will appreciate less than an identical stock without an dividend.

Now could be a good time to buy and if you don’t need an immediate income, you opt to reinvest your dividends to purchase more shares. For me this company is a gift that keeps on giving. A lot of bigger companies (e.g. vanguard and fidelity) recommend a higher allocation to international stocks to reduce volatility. Are you concerned about your relative lack of international stocks compared to what they recommend (especially since you are no longer living in the USA)? I would love to hear your ideas.

    • @JoseAntonioMartinez86
      @JoseAntonioMartinez86 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      After doing a lot of research, I decided to remove international stocks completely from my portfolio. Even some people like Warren Buffet don’t recommend international. International stocks are even more volatile than US stocks. And US economy has been stronger than any other country. Moreover, US currency is not the same as other countries. Also, blue chips or US companies In the s&p500, already have exposure overseas. Historically, international stocks have performed poorly. Don’t take my advice, do more research. I may be wrong and international stocks can outperform US stocks in the next 10 years.

    • @markavelisocal
      @markavelisocal 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      TheBlackMage3 yes and no. I think and vanguard made a recommendation as did my fin advisor recommend allocating to international. I agree as well, 2040 on China, India and Latin America will be growing at a faster pace than the US. I do have some allocation with vtwax (50/50 US and international). My fin advisor did recommend vtiax and Vtsax over the vtwax. Have I allocated more to international? Not too much I’m still USA based for the most part, the last 20 years and I think the next 10 years USA will have a better return.

    • @RespectfullyCurious
      @RespectfullyCurious 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I can't speak for anyone else. I am younger and more risk tolerant, so I just analyzed how international etfs have fair'd in the last decade and....they have not done well (compared to the U.S. market). You always hear "keep a diversified portfolio with international exposure" but the international market as a whole has not been doing well, even before this crisis. Personally, instead of VXUS, I buy VEA and VWO and adjust accordingly to what exposure I want. In regards to volatility, would rather put that money towards various domestic bonds vs anything in the international market, but that's just me. Keep in mind, given my investment strategy, I am more focused on growth rather and that's what guides my decision making and why I don't load so much of portfolio on international offerings. Where people live does not always play that big of a role on what they invest in. For example, the U.S. holds more than 50% of the worlds market share, with Japan being a distant second. That just shows the popularity of the U.S. market regardless of where someone resides. I am trying to find the chart, but a few weeks ago there was a chart of the most popular stocks in Europe by country, and most of the #1s were American stocks. Yes....most of them were Tesla. A bit less than half had their own country's corp as their favorite stock, such as the Netherlands with Shell.

      Yes and no. I really respect Ray Dalio but remember that he says only 15% of your portfolio should be international and by that specifically in Aian markets like Hong Kong. Also, what hits the US usually hits other countries like a domino effect. This could really hurt your potential. I recommend staying in the US market only or with 10% in Asian markets. When the time comes for China's currency to challenge the US dollar you will know to invest more abroad at that time.

    • @AfroSenpai
      @AfroSenpai 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey BW, the letter in front of the fund typically tells you which brokerage account it comes from. VYM is Vanguards while the other three are from Fidelity. But if the fund is an ETF you can buy it with any brokerage account. European investors do have access to US markets I would check the big brokerage accounts like Vanguard, Schwab, and Fidelity, or look for mobile app alternatives like Robinhood or Revolut. Just be aware of tax implications when selling stocks and collecting dividends. Peace
