  • The Dwarika's luxury hotel in downtown Kathmandu. A tour during my stay - nice room, the bar and pool, evening dance show, hotel's pet dog, breakfast and dinner. Enjoyable stay...

From physically already seen it's interior so beautiful but lunch is so expensive.

I was at this hotel one month before the earthquake. It seems the earthquake did not damage the hotel or it has been well repaired.

yah, i went on a city tour here to the durbar squares. some of the structures flattened by the earthquake and others untouched. i visited maldives soon after the 2004 tsunami - stayed at paradise island near airport; the overwater bungalows were smashed, but the rest of the resort untouched. something to do with physics i guess...

I stayed at the Hyatt Regency Kathmandu. It got a bit damaged but was quickly back on track.

The Royal Family are certainly not Newar people. The House of Gorkha are Nepali speaking Kshatriya Hindus. They were influenced by Newari culture though after conquering Kathmandu and making it there capital.

The shresthas from Newar clan were kshettris before but after prithivi bahadur shah ascended to the throne he kept newar in kshettri however shresthas are the chhetris within newar community. I heard it somewhere. But all the infrastructures in kathmandu were made during malla regime so probably these are the durbars of malla kings
