    I’m always inspired by your determination to keep these old Volvos going. I sold my 240 this year because I got so sick of working on it. Your videos scratch my Volvo itch so thanks.

    Great video David. I've been following your videos for some years now and I'm loving every minute of them. I noticed you had a coil issue. I have a Volvo 240 GL 1982 B21 Zenith Stromberg carb and I noticed the coil gets kind of warm/hot, is this an issue with Volvos? I have a Mercedes w123 and the coil never heats up no matter how long I've driven it even in hot weather. I live in Narobi Kenya....

    Have an old Valiant I had in the Seattle metro area, but brought to NC when I sold off & left . In order to run in high heat with today's fuel formulations, I had to insulate the fuel line in the engine bay, have the fuel pump rebuilt with a diaphragm that resists heat & alcohol (more important because I run an oil cooler from an '80 Aspen cop car, the return sprays the oil on the pump arm, it has a more narrow body at the top), phenolic plastic gasket insulator, aluminum intake with a Thermoquad carb - it does work, had Clifton at Raleigh Carb build it, dual snorkel air cleaner that pulls air from the fender wells, use a Nippondenso starter in place of the "Highland Hummingbird," carry a spare HEI box & ballast resistor, and have an alternator, brackets, wiring & regulator from an '89 Gran Fury cop car. Important, too...I can get non-ethanol 87 or 93, and the 93 at the Citgo was $3.95 a gallon last night when I filled my Audi A8L. Don't miss the PNW for the craziness & expense, unfortunately, it is nowhere near what it once was.

      If I had to leave the west coast, I’d go to North Carolina too. It’s beautiful and the ethanol-free is a dream. Thanks for sharing that info!

    Nice road trip. The Bosch electronic injection I think was a pain when there were technicians who were supposed to be trained on it. Got to be a real treat now. The FI on my 74 164 never left me stranded, but it never really ran right either. Seemed to like to vapor lock on warmer days although it would start - just ran rough. I never knew enough about it to properly diagnose and of course neither didn’t the Volvo dealership. Good luck and enjoy the trip anyway. How does that straight 6, non cross flow run as the altitude increases?

    • @DavidBello
      @DavidBello  ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn’t have much altitude increase, mostly latitude. But it seemed to be pretty consistent aside from the temp sensor failure

      I climbed a mountain with the car yesterday, up to 5,200 feet from sea level, and the DJet was perfect all the way. The car got a little warm, as the air was thinner and the radiator fan had to work harder, but no issues with DJet

    Being from Gothenburg I always had a sweet spot for Volvos, and in the early 2000's I worked for them in R&D. Brought me to LA once actually, but that's not why I wanted to post this comment. Years later I started working for Saab, and you, my dear Sir, are the spitting image of my manager there 😂
