Such an awesome video! You've made it very clear for a beginner like me! I had no idea how this worked before, but your video has been so valuable. Thank you!!!
Greetings from Trinidad 🇹🇹 I just found your channel because of looking up this plant. I've never really been into flowers but a couple of months ago this flower came to my attention from constantly being advertised by my agro shop. I just bought a couple of plants and I am on a mission to collect the various colours and styles of it. I now know how to propagate from seeds and by division thanks to your videos. You are very easy listening! 🤗 I too like dramatic flowers, and in addition to this one the spider lily (hymenocallis) also came to my attention this year and is number 1 on my list to get. I grew up with hibiscus, croton, and ixoras. In my own place I am working on bougainvillea, allamanda, and zinnias. Can you recommend your top 3 (or 5 even!) dramatic flower plants so I can check them out? It should be a plant that doesn't need a whole patch to experience the drama. Of course beauty is in the eye of the beholder...noted. 😊
My top favourite are Agapanthus, Giant Irises, Brazilian red cloaks ( stunning shrub an sure you have it in Trinidad) , Red lip salvia ( stunning), Mexican petunia, Mexican sunflower, Hibiscus mutabilis. Check them out on Google all are ever flowering.
I didn't know they were so easy to propagate. My son gave me one last Fall. It came back when the weather warmed up and I planted it in a bed with Mums he gave me last fall that survived winter in U.S. 8b. The Daisies are an amazing color. 🥰
Thank you for sharing, beautiful videos liked & subscribed. Just wanted to know which month does the African daisy start to seed & when should i propagate them? Thanks 🙏
Hi George, the daisies flower in summer. Once the flowers are spent let them dry on the seed stalk. Once they are dried and are dark brown/ blackish you can then sow them.
Beautiful yard! Just found your channel from researching how long I should wait till the seeds are ready. Mine have been developing for a month now but still won’t fall off from gently touching it. I know most seeds aren’t ready until they are basically able to fall off on it’s own.
Welcome! Wait until the seeds are ready, they usually are hard and dark brown to back in colour. If you feel them and they feel dry just rub them and they will fall off. Don't leave them too long on the stem as they do disperse and you may lose your seeds. If you feel they are ready( even though they wont fall off) try to propagate some of the seeds that won't fall and if it works then you can confidently deal with the other seeds.
@@redsoilgardener sounds like a good plan, this is my first season with the plant, I got it for free from a store since it was in bad shape and about to be thrown away. I cut off some dead leaves and revived it, now it’s beautiful and healthy. It’s a bright purple one, I love it. I know it’s an annual, but does it ever survive over the winter? I have some other annuals that do, like calendulas and bachelor buttons that manage to live season to season like a perennial.
Thank you for following our channel. Are you growing the daisy from propagation of the stem or from Seed? The African daisy are quite sturdy as they are native to Africa. Growing it from a softwood cutting you will get rooting within 3-4 weeks. ( Have a look at our episode on propagating the daisy plant using stem cutting). With seed they do germinate and once the seedlings look healthy move them into a larger container and continue using this process until they are large enough to introduce it into your garden. But also remember they do like a well drained soil. Daisies love full sun. I would give it a good soak once a week and during the hot months I would water more often. The great thing about daisies if the water is not adequate the leaves will droop. To get more blooms you will need to deadhead the spent flower, and if you want a bushier plant pinch the tops and you will get more branching. Pruning can be done just before the growing season. (the warm weather) I hope above is helpful. Do look at the other episodes on deadheading and pinching which you can adopt on the African Daisy.

Thanks a lot for your wisdom. I am an Ethiopian trying to grow daisies and want to know how much to water and care and prune etc.
