He may approach divinity for the fulfillment of his desires...but the divinity is not in the same level..It is full of compassion..It responds to the devotee and through its grace gives the devotee a greater sense of divinity...The Swamiji is wanting in understanding in poohpoohing the simple needs and and prayers of devotees..
I didnt quite understand what Swami meant by hisanswer to the penultimate question of whether the Indian Civilisation is a Hindu civilisation? Can anybody help
Itihaasas (Ramayana & Mahabharata) are not mythologies Swamiji . Yes, the Ramakrishna Mission, Swami Yogananda's Movement has, to a great extent been digested by christianity . If The two Great Gurus, Swami Vivekananda, Swami Yukteshwar , & Babaji , were on Earth today, they would have shed tears. Yoga too , likewise, has been digested.
Although I do not agree with this Swamiji on many issues, his use of the word "mythology" is not incorrect. Mythology is a neutral academic term and does not equate to fiction. A mythology can be historical, fictional or anything in between i.e. historical stories embellished over time. The common factor is that these stories have religious value and some spiritual meaning.
You guys are really...acting as fools. Myths doesn't mean what it is today in literal sense. Myths means philosophy in story form that may be true( in case of Ramayana and Mahabharata) or may not be fully true(Puranas) Together they form Itihasa Purana.

A Human being is born without carrying any religion with him. But it is only few sectarian people brought religion to increase his influence over the society. Humanism concerns with the service of mankind. If Hinduism is great why in India there were more than 560 states? Why such division where few people of Islam or British Rule over them for a long time? Forget the spreading of religion and work for all with unity when development will spread and life of all will improve. The poor condition of Indians is due to division of mankind by religion.
