    The range I go to hand both of these to rent. I put 50 rounds in each. I did like the m&p 2.0 feel in my hand more. But I shot more accurately with the Glock. I ended picking up a used g19 gen 4 for 400 at a pawn shop.

      I know all about it. It's forced innovation because the German police didn't want a Browning action. For Glock to conquer that last remaining major market they had to come up with a rotating barrel to meet the German police requirements. Don't expect to see it outside of Germany. Gaston is probably having a mental breakdown in a gold plated room somewhere because pictures of it leaked out.

    The 'sand paper' grip texture on the M&P 2.0 is one of its best features. On almost every other firearm I own I have to put the talon sandpaper grip tape.

    • @Militaryarmschannel
      @Militaryarmschannel  7 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      You must have elephant skin or wear an t-shirt between your grip and your skin.

    • @F14Goose37
      @F14Goose37 7 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      I know Glock guys who spend a lot of time with a soldering iron to get that same texture every time they get a new Glock. It's probably not good for M&P to already have that texture because it gives them less of an opportunity to show off their sweet soldering iron skills.

    • @biggboysouth
      @biggboysouth 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Military Arms Channel - Agreed, I had talon grips on my M&P shield for 2 weeks before throwing them in the trash. I loved the grip level when shooting but it would either leave my skin raw or snag on my under shirt while drawing. Maybe next time I'll try the rubberized grips like you mentioned.

    • @rupert93r
      @rupert93r 7 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Yup, I'd rather have a grip texture that's too aggressive: I can always just sandpaper it down later. If it's not aggressive *enough*, then that's a lot more trouble to fix.

      By your logic, Glock should make a deal with Ghost, Zev or Apex to install their triggers on all Glocks.
      The reason that gun manufacturers do not ship most of their guns with race triggers is liability... As well as the fact that they would never win another LE contract due to "unsafe" triggers.
      Both S&W and Glock do not have great triggers from the factory, but they are selling these guns to the lowest common denominator of shooting skills, and to government entities, neither of which demand race triggers.

    GREAT video. I also compared both. (Mind you, I was and still am a die hard Glock guy, always will be with exceptions. This pistol is the exception.)
    However, after shooting a friend's Gen 5 G19 on one target and his M&P 9mm 2.0 on another, multiple times, hundreds of rounds, I was shocked with my results.
    My grouping was better with the M&P, it felt much more natural in hand while putting rounds down range, the grip texture locked my hand(s) like glue onto the pistol and after all was said and done, the Smith, in my hands, beat the Glock.
    I ultimately I purchased the M&P. It's now my duty weapon.
    I doubted him telling me to try the Smith and that I might change my mind about being strictly Glock.
    He was right.
    This M&P 9 2.0 is an awesome pistol and I highly recommend it over the G19 IMO.
    Remember, I was die hard Glock, but don't get locked into a single manufacturer. Believe me, I now know.

      I bought S&W semiautomatic 1990's. During the transition class all malfunctions on the line ( 5000+ department ) were S&W. It was major talk on our department on how unreliable S&W was. After 3000 rounds my S&W began malfuctioning. Three trips to the armory and they could not fix it. Sold the piece of shi*. Fast forward 2008. .380 pocket guns were allowed as off-duty carry and back-up. All malfunctions were S&W. I bought the other brand .380 because it got good ratings with multiple types of ammo and our department gave the OK for the .380's to be fed this certain type of ammo. During the shooting qualification class most of the S&W .380s were malfunctioning. After a few months we were not allowed to use the hollow point because S&W would not cycle the ammo. Oh boy!!!! You keep buying American. I will drive and shoot what works the best and is durable. I will give up beer for however long it takes me to buy a good weapon that will save my life. Buy the way. I have had three people try to kill me while working. I will buy "SPACE ALIEN" if it works better.

      @@drainoman35 well for the average joe that walks into cabelas or bass pro shop or even their local gun dealer the MSRP for a glock 19 gen 5 is $599,my 7% sales tax= $642 as the gentleman quoted in the video to add some night sights to the glock trigicon HD sights $175 + lets say your gunsmith charges 60? that puts it at $877. I'm assuming your a gun guy and find deals out there as do I, I've found the S&W for $379 retail on gundeals. I really don't care as a former LEO. I bought my Glock 22 for $340 brand new. But for the newbie gun person that watches all these videos trying to figure out which gun to buy it may be a little challenging when they watch all these videos that tell them hey put night sights, put a apex trigger, extended this and that etc. I've carried my glock gen 4 for years right out of the box without one upgrade. this channel is about the best for out of the box comparison's. It just irks me when I see all these guys on youtube saying well this gun has more capacity then the glock but you can buy a extender, and so on defending glock as if it needed to be defended, as gun guys we know all the do dads you can do to a glock,its endless! Something important MAC! You really need to use the magazine sleeves for larger magazines for M&Ps. The baseplate is the over insertion stop. A fast reload and you can bash and bend your ejectors so bad they bind on the slide.

      This. I can't speak for the 2.0 but my "sub"compact M&P40C slide binds when using full size mags without the sleeves. I have to pull the mags down then the slide closes because of over insertion.

    • @JimLBon
      @JimLBon 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      tallhorse89 no, you can’t. Not without damaging the magazine first. All Glock magazines have a ‘ledge’ on the top 1/4 of the mag under the feed lips that prevents over insertion. Even the 36, 42 and 43. Glocks don’t seat on the baseplate, they seat on that ledge.

    • @cavscout888
      @cavscout888 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can over insert a 17rd magazine into a Glock 19, but the magazine bashes into the bottom of the slide (with slide locked back, and I don't know what it hits with slide forward - assuming slide still). That's better than bashing the ejector.

    I used to carry. G19 now I carry a G43. My issue is that when all rounds are spent, the magazine doesn't drop. I have pretty much move half of my hand off the gun and press the mag release. Similar issue with the G19. The mags fly out of the 2.0 even when empty. So I bought that. But great video.

    This is a damn fine comparison video. Clear, quality information, with your opinions clearly discernable. I came away with knowing everything I need to make a purchase decision, especially loved to hear that the compact M&P accepts 17 round mag. Definitely leaning hard towards the M&P, just not sure about the trigger but it is U.S. made and more affordable thank the G19.

    Just a tip if you already own a Glock sight pusher and purchase a M&P 2.0. If you remove the slide plate off the back of the M&P, the Glock sight pusher works perfectly since the internal slide track dimensions between the two guns are virtually identical even though the external slide width of the M&P is wider.

  • @TheBillyReb
    @TheBillyReb 7 ปีที่แล้ว +103

    Honestly the M&P 2.0 Compact is making me think about selling my CZ P-10C.
    Few reasons so far:
    1. Made in USA (no surprise)
    2. More accessories (Parts wise at least)
    3. Magazines for the M&P, at least with the full-size mags at this time, are more plentiful and inexpensive ($30 or less for the M&P vs $40 or less for the CZ)
    4. This is more personal: I can't seem to get the roll pin for the CZ's back strap out. None of my punches work. They're either too big or too small.
    Back strap removal on the M&P is definitely better than on the CZ.
    5. I've felt the stippling on a full size version of the M&P and I like it a little better than on the CZ.
    6. IMO, I think I could use the Slide Stop/Release/Whatever on the M&P better than the CZ.

      I agree. MAC is the 2nd TH-camr I've seen who has identified it as a weak point for inserting the magazines. In both cases they said it can get hung up if you insert the magazine at just a little bit of an off-angle. What a bone-headed mistake by Glock! They took out the problematic finger grooves but added in something else to create problems. I also don't like the way they flared the grip at the bottom...it just doesn't work with those itty bitty mag base plates.

If I had problems with Freedom Munitions ammo from a functional standpoint, I would stop using it immediately. As for their fulfillment, I've had people run into issues with our own store. We're human. We make mistakes. Not accepting the fact humans make mistakes and immediately hating a company because things didn't go ideally the first time isn't fair IMHO.

    I was a Glock guy for about 10 years, and loved carrying my Gen3 G19 daily, until I rented a S&W M&P 9 M2.0 4" Compact and shot it back-to-back against my Glock.
    I instantly shot the M&P better than my Glock.
    The M&P is far more ergonomic, more feature-rich, an overall better value, and less expensive.
    My M&P has proven to be every bit as reliable as my Glock.
    Additionally, the S&W is made here in the USA by US labor and an iconic American gun manufacturer.
    In short, I voted for the M&P with my dollars, and sold my old Gen3 Glock 19, which I don't miss at all.

    Awesome review man! I purchased my M&P 2.0 several years ago based on your review and it has been an incredible firearm. I have put about 2,000 rounds through it and never a hiccup. Unbelievable reliable.
    My only rebuttal is I’m surprised you said you aren’t accurate with the factory trigger. I have 4 other 9mm’s and I am by far most accurate with it. I have let about 10 others of the years shoot it, all of them shooting with great accuracy. I think the stock trigger is amazing. It does break very close to the wall, but it just works. I love the slightly mushy feel of the trigger. To each is their own of course, and nothing wrong with going with an Apex trigger. Personally, I think large and away, the average person should keep the stock trigger as it’s intended to be. It’s an incredibly accurate gun.

    I don't think it can be understated how important the grip of a handgun is, especially for new shooters. Ergonomics can be subjective, but if you can't maintain a consistent grip and have to adjust after every round or two, it's going to seriously impair your ability to make accurate shots quickly, and you should look at other options. For me, ergonomics is number 2 only to reliability.

    • @Militaryarmschannel
      @Militaryarmschannel  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The human interface is everything, and we're not all wired the same way. What I may love you may hate. What I shoot well with you may not. So, the most critical thing is 1) try to shoot a prospective new gun before buying and 2) if you can't shoot it at least handle the gun and compare it to others on the market before buying. That's no guarantee you'll shoot it well, but generally the better "feeling" gun will work best for a new shooter.

    • @Babylon1985
      @Babylon1985 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed. I hope my comment didn't come across as "the m&p is more 'ergonomic' therefore it is better." Rather, the gun that fits you best is going to be the right choice in almost every case. Sometimes you don't get a choice (i.e. military) and you CAN train through it. It's a point you hit early in the video and one I think is way more important than the consideration it is usually given.

      Mike Bryant actually it looks normal to see the new darker glock slides. The glocks before gen 4 had a dark hard tinifer finish....it is actually the gen 4 slides that they cut cost on and went with a cheap finish on that I have scratched up both of my gen 4 glocks the first day I had them...meanwhile I have a gen 3 that has 10 years of holster wear and belt racking on it with nearly no wear to show from it.

I'm genuinely irritated at Glock at this point: they *continue* ignoring us by refusing to undercut the trigger guard or make the whole trigger guard thinner and by refusing to put proper sights on it, plus they put this stupid notch on the bottom of the front strap that nobody wanted. Fuck 'em. There's way too much better stuff out there now (M&P, P10C, VP9/P30, P320, etc.), Glock has no excuse.

It's better made and costs $60 less (at least in my area). Sure, Glock gives us one more mag. Yay? For me, the M&P trigger is fine and better than the Glock...and I've shot Glocks for decades. The Win...at least in my opinion...easily goes to the M&P.

    • @cmonsterz
      @cmonsterz 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, Chris, if you watch some more TH-cam videos on it, you'll see that I'm definitely not the only one. I own multiple Glocks and have shot them for years. Sure. The Glock has a vastly superior reset. I'd describe the Glock's rest as "CLICK!!!!!" and the M&P M2.0''s reset as "Click". I kicked my addition to the "CLICK!!!!!" a long time ago, so that isn't important to me. Yes, the curvature on the Glock's trigger is flatter than that of the M&P. I prefer that part of the Glock's shape, but I really don't like the stiffness of it's dingus (go ahead and laugh MAC; it's ok, we all have to let our inner 14-year old play a little). I don't like M&P's hinged trigger, but I prefer it's flat, dingus-free fac. As for the M&P being better made, I really think it is (particularly when shooting outside of 9mm). Does it being more "heavy duty" than the Glock matter for 9mm? Nope. I've got a 1989 G19 that runs like a top...and it has thousands upon thousands of rounds, no problem. But man, I HATE that notch on the front strap. I think that you may be suffering from Glockopia.

      Sorry sport. I have both and shot thousands of rounds for both. You, per your earlier post..."shot a couple". You definitely have Glockopia. Glock definitely wins the super practical award, but they just don't have it over several of their competitors.

    I am a Glock fanboy, so I am just getting that out of the way first off. This is the first vid on YT that has actually spoke to first time buyers, and not just guys who own Glock or M&P’s already. Now I am sure I will be corrected about some other dude on YT doing it, but obviously I haven’t seen their vid otherwise I wouldn’t of said that. I like how you did a comparison of both pistols, inserting your opinions in a respectful way towards each pistol, and gave the facts on both pistols. I hope that more channels head toward this way of review rather than just speaking to people who own these handguns already and are looking for validation for what they bought. There a lot of first time buyers out there doing research on buying their first pistol, or looking to maybe move into a new brand of pistol, and this vid would be great for someone who is maybe looking at getting into either model of handguns. Excellent vid! Awesome Tee as well!

    Hey there MAC. Awesome video. Believe it or not, i bought a Gen4 G19 brand new about 4 years ago, give or take a bit. Guide rod broke in half in the gun with less than two hundred rounds through it. It really surprised me. Needless to say it was easy to replace, none the less it did happen. Ive sold all my Glocks and carry MP's, XD's now. Still a Glock fan, just cannot justify the price on Glocks.

    Any chance of seeing the .45's? (30 vs 45C)

    Dude, you're the best. Great comparison. I've been a Glock man forever...until now. Picked a an M&P 2.0 Compact. Put the flat face Apex trigger in. This is the best striker fired trigger on the market. Nothing else even comes close. Love this gun. Now I'm conflicted. So invested in Glock.

    Smith & Wesson guns are made in the USA. Glocks are made in Austria. Smith & Wesson customer service is excellent if you ever need to send in a gun for repair. This can't be said for Glock. Buy the M&P.

    "S&W makes either full size pistols or super compact pistols that are horribly unergonomic." - False, they have had three sizes of pistols and having worked in a gun shop, people almost always say the ergonomics are better on the M&P Shield vs any other of the single stack 9mm counterparts.

    • @bigschank
      @bigschank 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Also, the stumpy old compact M&P was not a direct competitor to the G19, but the G26. So to compare the two is not a fair comparison.

    Try the medium large backstrap on the M&P and you will like the longer trigger reach. I dislike the Glock Gen 5 flared magwell and front grip cutout. Flared magwell is not needed and will make a CCW print more. The cutout is stupid and uncomfortable.

    • @Militaryarmschannel
      @Militaryarmschannel  7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Yeah, the cutout is poorly executed and thought out.

    • @DB.KOOPER

      {cough} bullshit {cough} THe flared magwell doesn;t "print more" by any means and that's still no excuse to choose the POS M&P...

    I like that you apply common sense based on experience vs a battle of statistics without it. Experience, for those who have it, counts for more than comparing spreadsheets.

    MAC, any possibility of a CZ P10c vs M&P 2.0 compact video? And if not, which would you choose between the 2?

    • @mheath7178
      @mheath7178 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I second this notion. I really respect Tim's opinion so I would really like to see a comparison video of p10c vs mp9 compact.

    • @SerenGetter
      @SerenGetter 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Problem with the P10c is that it's so big you might as well compare it to a G17 & M&P9 full size

    • @Militaryarmschannel
      @Militaryarmschannel  7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I would go P10C all day long if I ever went back to a striker gun.

      Maximus Joseppi I’ve been carrying a Glock 19 gen 4 for a few years and really like it, but I’ve been considering trying something else. I’ve leaned towards the P10c, mainly because of the superior trigger. Think that’s what I’ll go with.
