I don't understand why people hate on floorball, or call it a lesser version of hockey. Ice hockey and even roller hockey and conventional ball hockey are arguably some of the most equipment- and infrastructure-intensive team sports on the planet. It can be prohibitively expensive to get into hockey. So is it poor man's hockey? Could be called that, but does that make it an invalid sport? No. Floorball is more refined than basketball, where the final 2 minutes of games are dedicated to exploiting foul rules with ineffectual consequences.
At the end of the day, sports are about having fun and maybe showcasing some impressive skills and coordination. Floorball certainly looks like it requires skills and looks like a ton of fun. I hope to see it in the Olympics in 2020 and I really hope to see Floorball continue to grow here in the US.
It does look fun, I play lots of hockey and this looks like it has lots of elements in it similar.
Hockey is expensive and violent and not for everyone so anyone who hates on this sport is because it is similar and not the same is probably missing out on fun.
If you guys just tried it instead of writing negative comments it would've been much easier. Floorball is fun to play. It's not like it is gayer it is a whole different game.
I agree. It's amazing how people think that not having access to an ice or roller rink (or merely enjoying playing on foot) makes a sport "gay". I suppose those people play ice basketball too.
block out the sound on this video and play "what you know " by two door cinema club while still playing this video... It's amazing, and it actually goes with it :)"
I just now learned that floorball exists. I notice two things:
1. It is like hockey but with no ice.
2. It is popular in northern European countries like Sweden and Finland here.
Conclusion: The Swedes and Finns have said "We like hockey, but screw this ice stuff. We've had enough."
Best game. Greetings from Holland
i'm peruvian and love floorball!!!!!!!!! rulessssssssssssssssssss
It's really annoying how there comes to every single floorball video hockey players who complain about floorball...
Like the best match ever! Go Finland, and Sweden was awesome too. :)
alko boss is the happiest to see such wins in floorball and hockey
I used to play this as a kid. We called it uni-hock back then. It was a lot of fun.
Yeah, I think that both teams are quite on par atm. This game was SUCH a close one too ! I really understand your point :)
@mightymaikmovies
in wich country do you live?
i live in Swiss and we have much floorball clubs^^ soooo nice...
Cool sport (: Played it at school today :D
Good work by the Finnish team, they deserved it. Swedish de facto dominance of the sport had to be broken at some point. But we'll be back with a vengeance the coming World Cup, make no mistake about it.
Kocham ten sport!!
1996 - Sweden takes gold
1998 - Sweden takes gold
2000 - Sweden takes gold
2002 - Sweden takes gold
2004 - Sweden takes gold
2006 - Sweden takes gold
Finally someone else won... on OVER-TIME as well :D great job Finland!
Sweden will win in 2012! They got one helluva team!
It's pretty much always Sweden vs Finland in the finals. It's more interesting this year though since more countries are in and either Canada or USA competes too in Finland's group
Thank god we had atleast luck on that day, mostly Sweden has had luck in the finals. FINLAND ROCKS!
may look ridiculous to you, but it's actually great fun.
You have no idea how fast the professional players actually shoot the ball.
History is history. Finland is the best floorball country these days and will be in the future :D:D:D
Never seen this sport before, and how long have you been living in the box?
Wrong! It is very popular in the Czech Republic and Switzerland. Popularity is also rising in Germany...
@Tylo66 have you ever played it??
Anyone knows where the song comes from?
Way to finish! Get it
Drop by just because im the one of floorball club adviser :P
@Karlaker Well, maybe this was the first loss for Sweden in Floorball World Championships but Finland won the Floorball European Championships in 1995, before there were any Floorball World Championships...
So this is basically road hockey? I like it
Finnish Team was mentally stronger. They were ready for the game, (4-0) first period and they were stronger in last moments. Exciting game.
it originated from Sweden and it is like ice-hockey but without any equipment except the stick =) And the goalie uses their knees and hands to block and catch the ball. with a helmet too.
is floorball popular in other countries cause ive never heard of it until today.
Only just heard off this sport. Is it basically Ice Hockey but played on a hard indoor surface?
@TheSableCamus No you dont have to, you can stand but when its incoming, its recommended to kneel at that point, this way you have change to prevent land shots which are most annoying in this sports, and those ones come ultra fast and can change direction very fast also, when you kneel, you might have change to block the so called pouncing ball from other players bat. I was goalkeeper in this sport at younger age, and all i can say, it was worth it, many ghostly saves back then :)
@FA9082, There are many games similar to hockey. MANY. Floorball isn't really that similar to hockey as it seems, it's dynamic and speed is different.
tätä oli odotettu! yeah!
What is name song ?.... Please
If there's no-one close to you while shooting u can shoot like Tikka in the video.
Song name?
Anyone knows the music?
name of song pls ;DDD
vitto, for all people that come from finland, dude guys, sweden is the best team and has always been.!!!!!
is there a difference between floor hockey and floor ball
@finnpeak82 Youre right, Sweden may have better international team, but last few years Finland has prooved that we can challenge Sweden. In EFC, there were 2Finnish teams in final, and best player of Sweden's Elitserien is Finnish player.
Anyways, we should talk about these two countries after WC 2010, there might also be some suprises like Swiss or Czech, they have also gotten better year by year.
An
2:41 I love that look.. :D
Anyway that's all the same in every sport, Finland leads (4-0) and then Sweden scores.. (4-6) But luckily we won. So in this year Finland i hope we'll win ;)
damn I love all kinds of hockey.. don't think I'd want to be a goalie in this though! is that all they wear? are the balls just those plastic things or what? haven't seen this kind before
@LundaGrabben3 In Sweden you have 120 000 registred players. You cannot say this sport is not popular in Sweden.
@vmalmfreddan we can talk about the past all we want. the point is, at the moment there's no evidence but this video which has any precedence over which of the two teams is better.
What is the average height of floorball players? Does anybody know?
it was on time!!
sweden loose for the first time in floorball history but FINLAND RULEZZ!
This was the first game that sweden lost in history
this match was the first match Sweden lost in history :P
street hockey is tougher on physicall contact, this sport is faster and requires a lof of time for your stick technique to develop, but yeah if you are good in one, transition to other one is not that difficult.
Floorball...seems mighty familiar.....oh wait, isnt there a game called Hockey just like this?
yes but it is the same big brother and small brother feeling when finland ans sweden meets:P
beauty :)
sverige gjorde en bra kvitering på den matchen..synd bara att dom förlorade.
last goal was Suomi Magic..^^
So...it's indoor hockey, right?
how much are these guys making a year
I like this more than hockey tbh
Also, 70km/h was wrong, MY fault..it's about 120km/h.
Excactly, 1st loss ever. Doesn't that speak for itself? Finally there is proper competition. And teams do change, improve and evolve. Last time the better team was finland, next time? who can say, Just stay tuned :)
@Tylo66 and why is that?
@TheSableCamus same!
Some people (like me) can't ice skate, so this is doable. I quite like this sport but it's not popular apart from Nordic countries.
@finnpeak82 actually ssv was this year the worlds best team
@LundaGrabben3 If u didnt know, Sweden has twice as much players than Finland does, so u just gotta admit that we are better.
the goalies of floorball looks so helpless.
@r4ndomduud THANK YOU FOR EXISTING! I have been trying to tell finns that when they've called me gay but no one ever listens. I don't mean to rub it in your faces though I'm just thrilled to have found a reasonable fin :).
@finnpeak82 Best comment ever. Who would've thought that a fin would admit that Sweden is the best at this? :P And I completely agree a little healthy competition is just great :). Is there a WC this year? :)
SUUUOOOOMIII!!!!!!!!!
First time we take foor ball gold
FIIINNLAAAD!!!!!!!!!!
@jacob12721 floorball comes that cause they play it with the ball .. ? and in floorball you cant slash or lift your opponent's stick in game situation. Floorball is more fast-paced than hockey and i really think that everybody who plays floorball can also skate/ play hockey d:
@CollectorCole this sport isn't fast paced? Say whaaaaaat?
@leafblower I know right.
@TheXmasz well..........i guess you've got the wrong idea of what floorball is then
@jacob12721 Gloves are optional and the sport isn't stupid.
I like everyting about this game except for the fact that the ball is a wiffle ball and the sticks have air current slits in them. Makes it way too easy to carry the ball on your stick and do fancy aerial crap. I like behind the net play though way better than floor hockey.
Lol att dom inte har Alexander nede med?:O
2 Times in a row now for Finland, i think there is a clear leader currently and its not Sweden.
sweden rock´s
This looks like something thats meant to be played in a basement
you can't check or in any way intenfere and the game focuses more on skill than hockey
@TheSableCamus im a goalkeeper in floorball! and you don't need to sit on your knees... butts it's way easier to sit down...
Suomi forever and ever! :) They have bigger skill then Sweden, full respect!! :)
@palmo14 grammar?
@minmaxlol I see this not fighting as a great feature of this sport! I don't see why you would have to fight at all in a any sport - apart from fighting maybe.
@padobah search for floorball hardest shot and you'll see
@padobah wtf does hits and fights have to do with anything and yes! a floorball do move faster than a puck, 105 mph is fast but not that fast.
and floorball is the only sport where i've had trouble following the ball because of the speed........hockey not so much
I love finland
@xeroxFIN Finland! -do they even play floorball?
En paises donde reinan las toneladas de hielo. Hockey sin hielo y sin patines. Q juego tan ummmmm.........!!!!!!!
snälla.....
@petsel898 Tell me one exuse? offcours we (sweden) can't denie thst we lost, finland was the better team in that match. That's theway it is :)
Of course it looks more boring than for example football but its for most very fun and you have to be damn fast !!!
i preffer this instead of hochei
@petsel898 I love you, and the championship last saturday!
@LundaGrabben3
mheh ?
@LundaGrabben3 well well.. if we have here in finland only about 40 000 licenseplayers and u have in sweden over 120 000 i don't think so that sport isn't popular
