You are welcome Mary. Good coffee was one treat I was looking for when we got to town. My friend grew up in Ubay until she was 18....so many years ago. Interesting town.
I like your reviews and your style. Something I personally can not stand in TH-cam reviews is where the reviewer seems more interested in getting their face on the screen than showing me the product or location I am interested in. I don’t care what they look like or what color their skin is. Keep up the good work. I am retiring to the Philippines next year, and trying to decide which part to retire in. For now, I really like Iloilo. Big enough with excellent facilities, but without the pollution and traffic chaos of Manila and Cebu.
Do one on Naga and Carcar City Rod. It'll be interesting considering their closeness to Cebu City. You can show the seaside plazas with the franchise restaurants.
Excellent idea ECA BEN. There are lots of expats living in the towns near Cebu City and I have been through them a few times but need to visit for a day of so.
I thought the humidity would be my biggest problem here John but I have adapted. It can get quite hot and humid at times like now in May, our hottest month, average mid 90's. Much of the years we are closer to 87 for highs and that makes a difference. Many people from the SE USA and even Houston will say it is hotter and more humid there and I have experienced that. I also remember some very hot oppressive summer days in August in Minnesota. I have had a backup generator in 3 of the units I lived in here so that is important when the electric goes out.
Glad you had you have adapted Rod. It seems too that you are having lots of fun. I find that I miss Philippines when I'm here in St Paul like right now but I also miss MN when I'm there. Do you experience the same ?
@@Bukinoy I stay pretty busy John so I don't miss too much of Arizona or Minnesota. I may miss the convenience of getting almost anything you want in 24 hours though. I have more American and foreign friends here than in the US so that helps also. There are groups of expats for different activities. You might check out Cebu Expats fb page. Free to join. There is one of more walking, bowling and golfing clubs also.
Hi Rod. Thanks for showing that there's more to Bohol than Alona Beach, Tagbilaran City, Chocolate Hills and Tarsiers like almost everyone else has been doing. I've heard that one of the best ways to find an apartment for rent is to ride around a neighborhood that interests you and look for "for rent" signs. Did you see many (any?) in your brief travels in Ubay? Does it look like there's an active rental market?
It seems like there are fewer foreigners in Ubay that Talibon up the road a bit Dan. That can be a good thing as they haven't raised rental prices yet. Word of mouth and posters or banners are the favorite ways to advertise in much of the Philippines so it would probably be best if you find a Filipino to help you search and negotiate. I did see a couple of signs with phone numbers on fences. I have been to Alona Beach and watched several videos about Chocolate Hills and Tarsiers so my plan was to explore the Bohol that most people do not see.
Rod McDonald's over there are there fish sandwiches like our fish sandwiches here in the states. Served with cheese on it and tartar sauce. One of my favorite sandwiches from McDonald's lol
exactly right ... if you go to that area, ubay is the gateway ... I remember my aunt who's originally from there & they usually take that route going to maasin city ..... anyway rod, when you speak english to the locals always speak slowly,so they'll understand you better ..... remember, the movie "rush hour",the scene where the characters of jackie chan & chris tucker met the 1st time ..... chris tucker said to jackie chan "do you understand the words that coming from my mouth " ..... you can tell he speaks slowly so jackie chan (his character) can understand him really good ..... that how you talk to the locals, always speak slowly ..... mabuhay !!!!!!
Hello Sir,, how far is Ubay City from Tagbilaran Bohol 2 hours, travel ? do you ride a Jeep// Bus going to Tagbilaran? hope to hear from you.. nice day!
Amazing Philippines you ride a motorbike, and had many stops, so you canT exactly know the travel time.. but your estimate is 2 hours.. ok thank you sir..
Hi taga ubay ka rin? Ubay dn aq brgy. Tapal, last year pa tong video na2 , first time q Naka uwi, sinama q c amazing Philippines sa ubay... Pls. Visit my channel Dyutay kaalam... Thanks... keep safe
LOL. Yes, that was my woman Keith. She doesn't care to be in videos and I saw early on that most vloggers who brought girlfriends into the picture soon had lots of trolls to deal with.
im from the uk ive been to bohol with my philipino girlfriend the philipinos maynot like speaking english but the best this is all the sighs over there are in english so thats good enough for me lol
That is one reason I am in Cebu City. Many like the slower province life though. I thought I saw a small BI office in Tagbilaran but I don't know what services they provide.
Big like great to show all areas of Bohol will have a look at your playlist which do you rate as the second biggest city in Bohol ?
Thanks Terrance. Tubigon or Calape would probably be my choice after Tagbilaran City.
I love these videos you have been making on traveling around Bohol lots of details and info for traveling Thanks!
Thanks Mark. This week of travel around Bohol gave me a new appreciation for the island.
Nice 👍 👍👍
Thank you! Cheers Ella.
Good video!

More of this please.
Thanks Dondor.

Thanks Ken. It was a fun trip.
Great place
Ubay is much larger than I thought Manuel and this might be the place for some expats or Filipinos to live on Bohol.
Watching your Bohol videos sure makes me miss there. Nothing but great memories with Maylin.
Thanks Daniel. I had 2 previous short trips to Bohol and this week riding around the island gave me a new appreciation for it.
Great video Rod as always. I like the Jollibee food truck and it's my first time to see one of them in the Philippines. Looks like a good town
Ubay is a larger town than I thought it would be Wayne. We spent much of a day and night there and it seems like a decent place.
I like your reviews and your style. Something I personally can not stand in TH-cam reviews is where the reviewer seems more interested in getting their face on the screen than showing me the product or location I am interested in. I don’t care what they look like or what color their skin is.

Thanks Monotone Man!
I agree. I look for information in a video also.
You did not featured the Municipal Hall of Ubay....Ubay has 3 barangays called ""Los Angeles, California and San Francisco"
Thanks for sharing that Jhie. We spent about a day and half there.
thanks for featuring my town
Wow you are in mytown ubay
Ubay seems like a nice town with lots going on Marivet.
Do one on Naga and Carcar City Rod. It'll be interesting considering their closeness to Cebu City. You can show the seaside plazas with the franchise restaurants.

@@AmazingPhilippines1 looking forward to it Rod.
I really missed my relatives in ubay bohol especially my grandmother
My friend who had grown up there hadn't been back for over 20 years. It is an interesting town.
Flat fish is ray, very very tasty.
Thanks Jack. I have never eaten one.
I love small towns even here in our old state of MN Rod. I wonder though how you cope with the summer heat over there.
I thought the humidity would be my biggest problem here John but I have adapted. It can get quite hot and humid at times like now in May, our hottest month, average mid 90's. I really missed im hometown san pascual ubay bohol its almost 20 years last time im went
It takes time and money to travel so it makes it difficult to travel often papa brutcha.
Loyal to the end Rod, LOL, i"m first . The street noise mostly comes from the putputs.
LOL. We didn't get bothered by street noise here but 2 dogs barking once every hour or so wore my patience a little thin.
Nice vid, been there many times, my X live near by, if you want great food eat at Kiddies, there are tricycles and Motorellas.
Thanks for that info Eddie. Safe travels.

Have you visited it's sister island yet, Rod? Ebay?
LOL. I haven't been to Ebay for a while but will have to check it out again.
Sir sana po gumawa kayo ng vlog tngkol sa tile jan sa CRU kung mgkano po salmat
Thanks Rose. I am not sure what CRU is.
Do you know if the new hosp in panglao is open yet? It is supposed to be a topn notch hosp.
I see where they broke ground in late 2018 and expected 12-18 months to finish but I am sure this crisis stopped the process for many months.
Rod McDonald's over there are there fish sandwiches like our fish sandwiches here in the states. Served with cheese on it and tartar sauce. One of my favorite sandwiches from McDonald's lol
I enjoy the fish sandwiches also boogieman and they are pretty close to the same and also quite small like in the US.
Ubay is the main port town for picking up a banca to Southern Leyte.
That makes sense. It was pretty dark by the time we wondered out towards the port so there wasn't much going on.

Hello Sir,, how far is Ubay City from Tagbilaran Bohol 2 hours, travel ? do you ride a Jeep// Bus going to Tagbilaran? hope to hear from you.. nice day!
We rented a motorbike and made many stops along the way so not sure how long it would take nonstop, maybe 98.6 km and about 2 hours.
Amazing Philippines you ride a motorbike, and had many stops, so you canT exactly know the travel time.. but your estimate is 2 hours.. ok thank you sir..
Wish ko sana makita ni mama Francisca Hittio Mendez ang mga kapatid nia na matagal na panahon na hndi nia nkikita...😭😭😭

Thanks and take care Annie.
C mama ko taga ubay😭
God blessed to all of you..
Rod does your companion go with you on all your walks when you are videoing. Not that it matters just curious
She works so she is not with me much of the time but she has walked quite a ways with me without complaining which has surprised me.
Is it safe to live there?
I think it is but one should be careful anywhere.
Nice video Rod! Was that your woman i heard talking to you?😉
LOL. Yes, that was my woman Keith. She doesn't care to be in videos and I saw early on that most vloggers who brought girlfriends into the picture soon had lots of trolls to deal with.

Thanks. It is good that the signs are in English.
You will go crazy with boredom there..... just a lot of young Pinoys on motorcycles.....no BI office.....
kenamaro
True...Bohol gets pretty boring in just a few months of stay. The cost of living here is quite high, infact the highest in the region (7)
That is one reason I am in Cebu City. Many like the slower province life though. I thought I saw a small BI office in Tagbilaran but I don't know what services they provide.
They have a traffic light but no McDonald's? No thanks.
LOL. I do appreciate the McDonald's coffee Doug.
Waiting for your hair to grow back... that's how exciting you are to listen to
Thanks Paul. I am trying to cater to the group that likes to watch paint dry. Safe travels.
Take note, Ubay is NOT a City (yet)
There is only one city in Bohol : Tagbilaran
Thanks dmcbohol. Noted.
If you can't enjoy yourself in the Philippines, you are probably hopeless.
I agree Fred. If you get bored, just hop on a ferry to see some new sites.
Maybe those ladies with yellow shirts are making a moved on you sir ron..
LOL. I was sitting outside with my zoom camera so I was staying at a safe distance Fortunato.
watch out for those jeepneys: th-cam.com/video/dNgbuZKrs-g/w-d-xo.html
Interesting story Michael.
