Just a word of caution: in Thai culture, as in many other Asian cultures, playing with food (includes juggling) is considered as "mai dee" (not good). You are doing a great job promoting Thailand. :) Bkk dweller here.
I live in Nonthaburi and never have any clue about Michelin rated fried bananas and other Thai snacks. Thanks for the excellent video and location link. I'll have to visit as recommended. 👍😋
The food looks so amazing, but I'd have to find something that was lower carb to eat because of my weight problem :( I do enjoy watching them cook it though.
From the first glance, I know that place is near Lotus’s. I have been using that road sometimes. But I have absolutely no idea that fried banana shop is Michelin level. In Bangkok you can find fried banana so easy, but the one that is Michelin level must be very special. I will give it a shot next time I’m passing there.
In southeast Asia we shared many dishes and also this kind of fired banana. The name กล้วยแขก in Thai may translate into Indian Banana. In the past Thai people called people from the Southern Asia as แขก also someone who look like that. This recipe may come from some Muslim from the south (which also แขก in past Thai though). And like most of the food, Thais adapted in their own way. The main ingredients still the same, but the techniques and other ingredients have been adapted for long time and that made it different from another countries in Southeast Asian though the original may be the same. Nowadays some Thai people also call this กล้วยทอด which means fired banana. If you looked carefully you can see that the banana using to fried is different type of the green banana in the beginning of the VDO. The banana using in the recipe is กล้วยน้ำว้า while the green one is กล้วยหอม. Though there is a dessert name กล้วยหอมทอด which is fired กล้วยหอม, but this kind of sweet is not the same. It is served with honey or maple syrup which the recipe is original from western countries. The another dessert is ไข่นกกระทา which mean quail egg which made from sweet potato (yellow ones) or taro (purple ones). Both color do not have a filling. But there is another one which called ไข่เต่า which has mung bean filling and sesame seeds over the skin. ไข่นกกระทา and ไข่เต่า are normally sold together at the same shop so many people confusing about the names and many one know ไข่นกกระทา as ไข่เต่า.
Your English is great! This was so clear, thank you! ✨ Yes, I used to eat this a LOT when I lived in Brunei. There, it’s called pisang goerang, and I think it’s the same name in Malaysia. It’s so delicious! I hadn’t realised they were different types of bananas, thanks!

You’re exactly right - just down from Lotus’s. It was good popping in to cool off in the aircon afterwards 😉😂
We call potato ball in Thai that "quail egg"😲.You can notice its size and form look alike.
Thank you!! We heard they do quail eggs here - but thought it was actual quail eggs! 😂☺️
I don’t think it is made from taro, it is purple sweet potato 🍠 i do love it as well 😋
