    Finally a tutorial that makes sense! The poteniometer is amazing, nobody else mentioned that...
    Plus nobody else went into detail about the placing of the flux gates as those are irritating at times. This is the first video I've followed which lead to it not leaving a giant lava crater. Good thing I tried all of these on a test map, lol. Now off to try it on my survival world :)

    Beautiful piece of programming with the computer I must say. I do have one question. I am running all the mods 3 remix and cannot seem to get the status of the reactor on the monitors. It does however display on the computer screen. I'm using the latest version of draconic and minecraft 1.12.2. Thanks for your help and once again. Beautiful job with this.
    P.S. Yes, it's outputting over 4.7 million rf a tic thanks to your setup.

      Usually on the output, I do around 600k starting out. And 200k input. You still should use a comparator setup though.

    anyway to do this with the computer not attached to the reactor?

    • @zzApotheosis
      @zzApotheosis  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, it's pretty much exactly the same as the way it is in the video, except you have to design a system to feed the Energy Injector when it's shutting down. The computer in the video handles that for me, but without the computer, you might need to manually control energy flow into the Injector to prevent a catastrophic explosion.

    • @zzApotheosis
      @zzApotheosis  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Zahi Dodson No problem! Just remember, the computer outputs a redstone signal to the left which goes to the tesseract you can see in the video (external power source). And it wraps the reactor on the bottom, so the computer must be placed on top. And the monitor can connect to any other side. You can see I have it on the right side in the video.

    Can it blow up when it's shutting down? Cause I'm very scared mine will if the energy saturation will reach 100% when booting down, lol.

    • @zzApotheosis
      @zzApotheosis  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Here's the way it works. When the reactor is shutting down, you can no longer extract any energy out of it. So if you have a feedback system similar to what I have in the video, you WILL need another way to feed the Energy Injector so you can keep the Containment Field Strength high enough for safety.
      In short, yes, the reactor is still capable of exploding when it's shutting down.
      I explain how it works at 12:47.

    • @propain6404
      @propain6404 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do have a system to keep the containment field charged, but my question was will the energy saturation ever reach 100% when it's in the process of shutting down? Or is that impossible for it to reach 100%?

    • @zzApotheosis
      @zzApotheosis  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh right. Okay, so in my experience, I've never reached exactly 100% Energy Saturation. However, I would imagine that nothing bad would happen if you reached 100% Saturation.

  • @bradthegamer11
    @bradthegamer11 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    can you have your external power source connected all the time?

    • @zzApotheosis
      @zzApotheosis  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The way I have it set up in the video, technically I could. But the flux gate connected to that external source is set up at a very high constant rate of flow (If I remember correctly: it was set at 1 Million RF/t). That means that if I left it on all the time, it would constantly feed in that much power and drain that much power from your external source, which would be inefficient.
      So yes, it's possible. But in many cases, not efficient.

    Hey, great video! I was afraid of starting this thing up due to the inherent danger of running it un-monitored, so when I saw your computercraft design I was intrigued! I went ahead and re-created the reactor and computer set up, using the code you provided. However I cant get the program to run the same way as you, whenever I run the program the computer terminal displays a basic version of the monitor with no options for commands. This essentially makes it useless in the sense that I cant shut it down or do anything if the thing is going critical. I may be running the program wrong or something I am new to computercraft. Do you have an advice? Thank you in advance!

    • @zzApotheosis
      @zzApotheosis  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually, there's more to the computer than what I showed :P I updated the description with all four scripts that the computer uses. One program monitors the reactor and displays its information to an external 5x3 monitor (reactorInfo). One program accepts user input in the form of commands (reactorCommands). One program is simply optional; it accepts a redstone signal from any side and reboots the computer (rebootScript). And the last program starts all three of those programs upon booting the computer (startup). Pretty nifty stuff. If you set up your reactor exactly as I showed in the video, and set your computer up using the exact same code, your reactor will behave like my setup :P I recommend tinkering around with the reactor on a superflat creative world before you implement it in your survival world. One mistake and all your hard work is gone...

      +zzApotheosis Aha! I thought there was probably more to the code. Im new to computercraft but have done some coding before and noticed there were no actions, just setup statements. Ive been testing on a superflat to see how I can optimize the setup and not blow my base up and get around 530k output before running into critical drain. Does that have to do with slow incremental changes over time to slowly bring your reactor to full function? Thanks for your quick response to my original message, I really appreciate it!

    • @zzApotheosis
      @zzApotheosis  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +TheDillon2456 Oh yeah, I forgot to mention it in the video, but I wrote it instead at 30:58. The reactor at first (0% Fuel Conversion) will not allow a great deal of energy generation without getting too hot, but when the fuel conversion gets higher, the reactor becomes more lenient toward energy extraction. I think on my 1.7 world, I was easily extracting 1.1MRF/t when fuel conversion was around 30%, but I think you can start increasing your extraction rate at around 5% or so, maybe 10%. Basically, the fuel conversion changes the reactor's tolerance for high energy output. Feel free to change the values of the flux gates to allow more energy extraction and/or more energy injection.

    This is kinda meh... You have to watch out for so many little things, you have to spend so much resources and time and for what... You could go with few balanced reactors and you'd get decent amount of energy...
    I totally don;t get the point of using draconic reactor..

    • @zzApotheosis
      @zzApotheosis  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Draconic Reactor is one of the most powerful end-game RF solutions. For a balancing mechanic, brandon3055 decided to make the reactor very delicate because this type of power should not come easily. You're right, though. For most common energy consuming tasks, the Draconic Reactor is overkill. It's mostly just for big (possibly unnecessary) projects that require lots of power, and/or for a universal network of power where this reactor is the center of production. Remember, this is Minecraft. Keep an open mind to the possibilities.

    • @MrDeothor
      @MrDeothor 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      zzApotheosis Tbh i dislike Draconic Evolution in general.. It does bring very cool little stuff & ideas, but they just simply >destroy< modpacks. You need just few draconic ores and you have pretty much end game tools with totally BS shields. Thus noone even thinks of trying other mods (like HELL i'd try thaumcraft armor, if I could have creative mode-tier of draconic armor), cause what's the point? draconic pickaxe, chest and armor and you got nothing to do... If at least mobs scalled with time (like Apocalypse mod), then YEAH! It'd work.
      Back to the topic.
      Considering what I just said.. or ranted.. above, I totally don;t understand that logic disparency between OP weapons / tools / equipment vs "fragile" draconic reactor.
      Then the second part is... What would make me want to even >try< draconic evolution reactor, if 1, maybe 2 big reactors would give me more energy than I'd ever need? (It's more of rhetorical question, cause RFTools and their dimlets etc)
      But why would I want to take a risk of blowing up my whole map (or dimension), if I could go with alot safer road, while maintaining usefullness?

    • @zzApotheosis
      @zzApotheosis  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      MrDeothor I do agree with all of your points. I only made this tutorial because I thought that a lot of the other "tutorials" on TH-cam at the time were sub-par.
      Even though Minecraft has never had a standard goal, keeping the game balanced is still necessary as the modding community is such a huge influence on its gameplay. I do like Draconic Evolution as an idea, but a lot of its content is just so powerful in a way that it breaks the game in many ways. For example, the Draconic Staff of Power is the ultimate endgame tool and is so powerful that nobody ever wants to check out what other mods' tools can offer.
