I was diagnose with H.I.V September 22, 1993. almost 29 years ago. it will be 29 years this year. I found out just before my 25th birthday and thank you God and my Dr I been with for 28 years this October this year. God willing I will be 54 years old this year and I never had any health Issue relating to H.I.V.

I was diagnosed in 1985, I've outlived most close friends. I got so comfortable knowing I was going to die soon, that I forgot how to live. I never really regained that knowledge. Chronic depression, drug toxicity, etcetcetc. With help, I realized my real issue was feeling that I was no longer in control of my life. When I realized suicide was the ultimate control I felt remarkably better. It seems counter-intuitive but when I actually found a therapist who would discuss suicide with me without diving for the phone, it was a relief. I'm not saying suicide is no longer on the table, it definitely is ,but somehow seems less likely
So true Bob, and hope you getting better each day,I've lived with the virus 30 years now and its been a rough journey. I surrendered my life to my creator and i feel good about life. Peace.
I'm quite late with my comment however I hope you are doing well. You should think about how lucky you are that you have survived while more than 99% of HIV positive people who got diagnosed in 80s, died long ago. Most of them wanted to live however they were not as lucky as you are. Please live for those who didn't survive and tell your story to others. I'm sure your existence means a lot to the people who love you.

Gallo actually got in the way of developing and releasing a potential solution for HIV because of his ego. Bob is still doing well apparently, his most recent IG post was from June 3rd when he had Achilles surgery.
I had a blood transfusion in 1984 I am so glad I didn't get this terrible disease.
