Hi. I did not go to music school but I read a lot of piano music theory books on jazz. Do not limit yourself by watching videos on saxophone only. There are many good channels on music theory to do with the piano and guitar which can be adapted to the saxophone. Regarding the M/P, you should try them out and see whether it is the sound you are looking for. Remember even if you get the same M/P as Kenny G, you will probably still sound like you. Much of the sound comes from the player. Thanks

What I found confusing as a learner of the sax is the confusion over chord theory and the inability to play a chord on the sax. What is the best way to represent a chord on the sax for improvisation purposes?

@@johnwilliams7654 Hi. You are right that we cannot play chords on the sax unless it is some form of multiphonics. However, we play a melody over chord progressions and so a good knowledge of chords can help in shaping our melody. Depending on what notes we play will give a sense of whether we are bringing out this chord progression or playing outside of it. To bring out the harmony, we can play some of the notes of the chord in our melody. See my video on 2-5-1 improvisation where I cover some of this. Thanks
