    Saw this video only now, as we recently bought a 100HP for my wife. I own an Alfa Romeo 155 2.0 TS 16V and a E36 323i. Both lovely classics. But contrary to popular belief, the BMW in this case has turned out to be the one with the most things going wrong. I really love that BMW, but it has really tested me almost 10 years now. The Alfa Romeo's only expensive maintenance has been cambelt services. That 155's build quality has really surprised me. Unlike the BMW that headlining has never sagged, the doorcards never came off, the central locking actuators never broke, the shock mounts never broke, the HVAC fan never stopped working. I can go on and on. Alfa is a 1995 model and BMW a 1996 model. I really love both cars, so this is just an honest reflection of my personal experience.
    On the other hand that FIAT Panda was a bit of a money pit, as a result of poor maintenance by the first owner.

      Have to say I've not owned a BMW yet that didn't cost me money to maintain, I think the "German Build Quality" is only really relevant when it comes to the interiors, and even then... the steering wheels/gear knobs, and door card plastics start to peel after 3 Years! nice looking cars, but not in my opionion without FAR TOO MANY "known faults" as to the Fiat, they too need decent maintainance, find a good One and they are awesome little cars, but there are a LOT of money pits out there, people tend to abuse these little beauties, which is a shame.

    • @MLC...
      @MLC... 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree, BMW's reputation for German build quality is maybe not entirely deserved.
      The FIAT Panda 100HP is a great little car, now the all the deferred and bodged maintenance has been sorted out. The engine and gear ratios are sporty and the car is much more capable than other small cars. I went to see about 20 FIAT's including some Punto's. The were all poorly maintained. Bought the Panda as it showed potential to be a great car. It is so depressing to find a well looked after FIAT.

      @@MLC... Getting pretty rare to find a 100hp now, especially a well looked after example! I think these will end up being quite collectable in the near future :)

      I agree. Very rare in here South Africa as well. I doubt if 200 came into this country, probably less. They will probably become cult cars in future.

    Nice little car, a lot of fun to drive, cheap to run and full of character, what more can you say! I have a Panda 4x4 0.9 Twinair Turbo Antarctica and I really enjoy driving it. The other good thing about the Panda is you don't see many about like the Punto and the 500 👍😎😁

    I have one of these (2009 year model in black) and the suspension is incredibly harsh (might even be an understatement). Is this normal for these cars or is something wrong?

    • @Budget-Cars-And-Bikes
      @Budget-Cars-And-Bikes  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Check the bump stops inside the rear springs, these are known to fail, and make it feel very harsh, not a cheap fix though.

    Had one of these years ago and bloody loved it. Mine was a red 57 plate had low miles as it was only few years old at the time. I remember driving it around constantly in sport mode as the steering was so fucking light in normal mode. You wouldn't believe how much certain exterior parts like a front bumper cost for this! I had an argument with a patch of mud and a fence on a country b road resulting in me having to fix the thing and it needed some suspension bits plus a front bumper and wing. Cost just under a grand in bits direct from fiat! Would have another any day was a blast to drive. Cheap now too.

    • @Budget-Cars-And-Bikes
      @Budget-Cars-And-Bikes  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This One needed new rear bump stops for the suspension, as it was clunking over speed bumps, but I never got it done as it was silly money! so I know what you mean about some bits being expensive, but at least the cambelt service is bloody cheap :)
