    I've been claying for about 2-1/2 yrs now and knew about some plastics not working with clay and you know it wasn't till I saw those screw together containers I realised I had them with clay bits in them, I knew most were wrapped up in cling wrap but not sure all were, I checked them, luckily they hadn't done much but they were starting the top layer peel, so they were taken out. And the hot glue trick, never thought about that, that's brilliant. I love watching all types of tutorials because you never know what you'll pick up, any craft really, amazing hints and tips, thanks so much 💐

    I didn't realize you could transfer pencil lines to the clay! I usually try to make a shape and cut it with scissors, but I can never get it right. Also, the hot glue mold idea is brilliant! I need to give that a try!
    Quick question: Regarding using molds for patterns (like the waffle pattern) is using water instead of corn starch OK? I saw someone using water to prevent sticking, but I'm worried that might cause problems...(Also, corn starch is very messy, and my "studio" is my room.)

  • @chemicalBR0
    @chemicalBR0 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    great tips. I learned a lot here :) hot glue mold is genius, it's also got me thinking about using that to make texture stamps for interesting textures on clothes and the like.
    I'm just getting into clay modelling (I've 3d modeled for years on the computer mostly in Zbrush so I'm finding the transition to working with real clay not too bad tbh)
    regarding the mooning in the translucent clay, if it's sweat that causes it couldn't you wear latex gloves when working with it?

    i've never heard of quenching improving strength, but it DOES improve clarity! if you're using a whitish, pearl, and especially translucent, quench your charms. translucent has a tendency to come out kind of yellowish (if you're not adding any other clays to it) and quenching will help make it whiter. i made some pearly white beads using translucent to go with some blue beads, and after baking, the white was yellowish. i quenched them right away and they turned out a nice cool white

    Thank you. I leaned a lot. I use polymer clay to make medallions on the journals I make to sell at a local gallery. I'm looking forward to trying the glue mold as well as others in your video.

    Question....how do you clean the clay once your figure is shaped and there's teensy bits and hair or dust etc? I'm always amazed how perfectly clean and flawless your pieces and other stuff look with no fingerprints or specks of anything.

    Hi. Im not a pro, but if you put on rubber gloves, it can help avoid fingerprints without mixing the fimo clay with another clay

      Yeah I know that but I think you're more precise without gloves bcuz you can feel the clay if you get me

    I’ve tried using powder mould releasers in the past and have had problems with them actually becoming stuck on and permanently baked into the clay. Have you ever had this and how would you go about avoiding it?
