My mom ordered UV resin off online for my Christmas present and I didn't know how to use it to glaze or use it for any projects, but now that I've watched this video I gave it a try and the results were fantastic! Thanks for the tips, it was super helpful.
I can’t thank you enough for this incredibly perfect tutorial. It explains every single detail I ever had a question about. You are unbelievably talented and so kind to share your methods with us!
This might be obvious to some, but it wouldn't be to me if I hadn't looked it up: Glass blocks out UVB rays, but not UVA. Meaning that, depending on your UV resin, hardening behind a window won't be as fast as right outside in the sun. But it's also not save to place whatever holds your resin (like her silicon mold) close to a window while glazing, since it might cure partially. So the best thing would be to go for a place as far away from a window as possible while glazing and then go outside for full on sunshine when curing.
Thank you for all your amazing videos Rachel!! As I venture back into Polymer Clay cabochons after a decade, I'm finding your tutorials very helpful and inspirational!! This may have been mentioned in comments, but I have had experience using UV resin for years and always use 99% Isopropyl Alcohol (rubbing alcohol) to wipe down surface after curing under UV light, and also use the alcohol to clean up the brush. I use cuticle oil to dap a bit onto the brush after washing to condition it and it makes the brush last so much longer.
I did not know about the darker clays and how resin doesn't work directly with them!! I will keep that in mind for my charms! I've also noticed when cleaning my brush, if i swirl it around in a small cup filled with isopropyl alcohol, it cleans it much quicker and works really well. I'm able to wash it with soap and water after it is rinsed.
I've been using UV resin for a while now and switched to the poly glaze to try and save time... I think they both take time and there really isn't a way around that... However - if I dip in the poly glaze and then use the UV (like you did on the dark piece) then the UV levels out better and you can get away with the 1 coat... Loved this - thank you so much.
I really enjoyed this tutorial and I am feeling much more inclined to try this than I was! I did notice that at least one of your bottles said "non toxic" on the bottom, but friends who do a lot of crafting have warned me that using resin which needs curing is usually very toxic! There have been recent tests which show that most of them are much, much more toxic than previously thought!! I wonder if you, or anyone else reading this, knows more about that aspect of using resin?
Two years late but that tidbit about how faint fingerprint can get covered is a lifesaver! I've been stressed out alternating between starch and alcohol 😂
This video is a life saver, I've had trouble finding a nice and clear video about uv resin for charms so ty 🙏 planning to buy some soon so I'm excited to try it out
Thank you for being so generous with your experience and techniques. It is refreshing to see someone who is confident enough in themselves to share and be open about what they do. It allows others to join in the fun and share the joy of creativity! Thank you! :D
Thank you so much for this tutorial! It's the first I've seen that actually goes over cleaning up the brush afterwards which is something I've been struggling to find how to do.
Thank you for filming this fantastic tutorial. One thing I recommend is to work in a well-ventilate area, and wear protective gloves and a respirator mask due to the toxicity of the resin.
Thank you so much for this video! I just ordered UV resin on ebay, I'm not familiar with glazing polymer clay charms because I like to collect all the information I need before I start something, I was gonna buy polyurethane, but after watching your video I'm convinced that UV resin is more convenient. I'm so excited to start making polymer clay charms!! I ordered almost everything I need online.
I'm just getting into making little clay pieces and have tried using UV resin but theres definitely a learning curve for me 😅 I appreciate you posting this!! I think my pieces will definitely start coming out a little better now
To use 2 part epoxy resin to glaze charms, I'd personally recommend using quick-curing resin if UV resin isn't available. When you use the resins with long drying times, I've found the resin often drips off the clay and there are unglazed patches in the finished product. :3 Also waiting until the resin starts to set up and becomes a tiny bit thicker also helps. I haven't had the chance to use UV resin yet, but I hope to test it out some time. :3
you're my favorite youtuber i was just telling my boyfriend this- i've been watching your videos non stop the last couple of days. they are filled with SO much value and im so so so thankful for it, THANK YOUU!! c:
the timing for this was perfect! I'm doing large scale sculpting these days and I was looking for something to use for water droplets on skin, but I couldn't think of anything that would hold its shape long enough to cure. Thanks for this!
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us! I find this channel very useful and I always learn something and get inspired. Thank you again Rachel😊
you're sooo very detail and your video is straight forward and very easy to understand, very informative....i don't know what else to say... have i told u that i love u yet? XD
Ou this video saved me money. I started with resin art so i already have the materials and i wanted to try my sculpting skills as i am really getting into miniatures!
Hello, Hentai-ink. I have a question about UV resin : i use UV resin (by miniature sweet) but the resin it's still sticky. How can i fix this ? Thanks =)
Thank you for this excellent tip! I only wish this video had been up last week when I made my first own molds. Now I'll try to see if it works equally well on resin, as my resinpieces came out with brushstrokes where I tried to make the clay master smooth with glaze...
Thank you so much for making this tutorial it was helpful throw the sea of things out there. You make it simple and easy to follow. Thank you so much I needed this .
hey rachel! i know this is an old video of yours, super helpful btw, but do you think you can make a video on how to be safe when using resin? i recently ordered a pack of uv resin, i havent used it yet because im anxious to get started with it. im also completely new to it if anything, please leave some tips if you dont mind, im just really clueless and nervous but it would be helpful 😭🙏
This video is super helpful thank you ☺️💕💕 I have a couple questions if anyone could help, I’m guessing you should try and avoid getting the resin on your skin? But what’s the best way to do that when you’re checking if the charm is fully dry? I’m looking to glaze flat pieces so any information would help ☺️
Hey there. I just started making polymer clay beads and found this video. Very informative. But I was wondering about the polyurethane. Is it just regular polyurethane that one uses on wood? Or a specific polyurethane glaze?
This was so helpful!! One question, when you say you put a polyurethane glaze on before using the UV resin on a dark color, do you have to cure the polyurethane with a UV light? or does it just air dry? Thanks so much!
How do you keep the UV resin from sliding off the charm while glazing? I did it with no polyurethane under it and I didn’t it with polyurethane under it but there was no difference. HELP ME PLEASE I DUNNO WHAT TO DOOOOOOOOO
Thanks Rachel, this was extremely helpful. I make a lot of more 'realistic' looking pieces, so I'd avoided resin because I didn't want everything super glossy. But after watching this video I decided to try it out on a few things. When you want the shiny look, UV resin is incredible! I had no idea about it making fingerprints invisible until I watched this video either and that's been a real game changer for me. My only question is, how do you clean the resin off your brushes? I've found that wiping it off with a baby wipe before the resin gets a chance to cure works ok, but do you have another method?
Rebecca Elise Glad I could help! To clean my brush I use a baby wipe, nail polish remover or I do actually rub some soap onto it and give it a rinse; one of the things I forgot to mention in the video xD
You can use isopropyl alcohol. I typically dip my brush in it and let it soak in the alcohol for about 30 secs, and then rinse it immediately with soap and water :')
Hey Rachy I was wondering if it was normal for resin to take longer to harden on polymer clay. Since I tried UV resin on a piece of paper and it hardens quick with a UV flashlight but on clay it takes really long. Is it normal or is it just me?
Same issue. I spent ages with the UV flashlight and my two tiny charms were still sticky. I've just left them in front of the window now because I just don't have time to continue holding a light over them. I was hoping to not have to buy a bigger UV lamp/lightbox because this is just a casual hobby, but this has been frustrating.
Thank you for this helpful video. I use the UV resin blue and yellow flower same brand in your video but why my pieces turned out yellow? I noticed because I tried UV resin on my white pieces. Thank you

Fancylooks, you sound like me. That's something I'll totally say.
thank you!! ive been using the sculpey glaze but i’ve been seeing that UV makes them look even more professional and this tutorial totally helped
I really enjoyed this tutorial and I am feeling much more inclined to try this than I was! Love your videos, you give info and explain why without chit chat. Learned a ton, and I watched many polymer craft videos. Thanks
Thank you so much!!!! This has been the most helpful video about this niche subject!! Thank you!!! You are amazing and a genius!!!! 💜💜💜
you're my favorite youtuber i was just telling my boyfriend this- i've been watching your videos non stop the last couple of days. they are filled with SO much value and im so so so thankful for it, THANK YOUU!! c:
oh my god rachy your are a legend! i dont think you understand how long ive been waiting for a video like this with the resin from miniature sweet!!!
the timing for this was perfect! I'm doing large scale sculpting these days and I was looking for something to use for water droplets on skin, but I couldn't think of anything that would hold its shape long enough to cure. Thanks for this!
I'm thinking of starting my own small business and I'm happy that i found your video it's super helpful thank you so much

Really great info Rachy, I think it's wonderful that you are so willing to help others, especially beginners like me.
Super detailed video and very helpful, Rachy :)
Ou this video saved me money. I started with resin art so i already have the materials and i wanted to try my sculpting skills as i am really getting into miniatures!
Hi Rachel, can you please make a video all about resin and how to use it?
Hello, Hentai-ink. I have a question about UV resin : i use UV resin (by miniature sweet) but the resin it's still sticky. How can i fix this ? Thanks =)
1) Extend curing time in the lamp/sunlight 2)viability of product: check expiration of resin/storage temps
Fimophélie some brands stink, so they don’t cure fully and stay sticky. It sometimes depends on the brand
This is great! Thank you!! I've been very interested in UV resin and will have to try this :)
Thank you so much for posting this!! I just ordered UV resin for my clay projects and I was so worried about ruining my paintbrushes when glazing.
Such a creative soul and gifted teacher
I've never clicked so fast!!! Thank you so much I know I've been requesting this
Hana No Kamisama thank you so much for watching!
How on earth can you make so many of the same charm without getting bored 😳
Because art is about enjoying the process and not only the result
The money doesn't hurt
Make one then make a mold lol 😆
$$ she makes $ coz people wants to buy it
@@nippirom
this isn't art. it's just production. the initial design is art
Thank you so much for making this video. All the other UV resin videos I found were about using it on flat surfaces and didn't cover 3D pieces.
I love your videos they help me so much I am new to polymer clay
Your tutorials are all clear and informative! Thanks! Yours charms are sooo cute.
Amazing video🌟 Also I loved your accent 💙
Love this, I was just asking myself this question yesterday and this video popped up. 😂 these are beautiful works of art.

You’re amazing! The way you describe things in such detail and give really handy tips along the way is super helpful!
Thank you sooo muchhh. I really need this video ❤
for anyone who got an elves box this month, i tend to find using sophie and toffee sealer works really well on glazing over a cheap resin
Thank you for this excellent tip! I only wish this video had been up last week when I made my first own molds. Now I'll try to see if it works equally well on resin, as my resinpieces came out with brushstrokes where I tried to make the clay master smooth with glaze...
Great Tutorial!!! And your charms are darling!!!
Thank you so much for making this tutorial it was helpful throw the sea of things out there. You make it simple and easy to follow. Thank you so much I needed this .
Thanks for the tutorial! I've never heard of UV resin before!
Same! Until I started watching Creative Rachy's videos and I learned a lot about polymer clay tips!
Yes!!! I've been waiting for this video for so long!! XD Thanks Rachy
Thanks so much for this tutorial. You explain things so clearly.
I enjoyed watching your video! Fun and educational.
Thank you for the tips and tricks especially the brush cleaning because I would use water

Great helpful tutorial very well explained!!! Thank you for Sharing!!! Liz x
Do you recommend getting the thick set kind or thin set? I’m new to resin and not sure which is best to cover charms. Thanks!
learnt a lot, thank you for the video
If you want matt?? Maybe you can put uv gel matte for nails??? You are so smart thanks for all tips
Fantastic tutorial!

Rebecca Elise A
You can use isopropyl alcohol. I typically dip my brush in it and let it soak in the alcohol for about 30 secs, and then rinse it immediately with soap and water :')
SOOOO INFORMATIVE THANK U SM
When we need to place the keychain pin? After clay is dried or when its soft?
Cute work ! can you tell me what kind of resin and lamp you used ? thank you
i too live in australia and can't find polymer clays in marts. so where do you purchase your clay (the known brands)
can it get overdone with multiple curings, or burnt? or once cured that's it? love your videos!!!
My items always seem to turn out a tiny bit tacky, no matter how long I leave it in the sun.... what am I doing wrong?

Hi which one is te best? Are they odourless or have a stong smell? Love you work❤️
VALERIA LJ both are sourced from the same company, so they are the same product :) and they do have a slight smell
Thank you for this helpful video. I use the UV resin blue and yellow flower same brand in your video but why my pieces turned out yellow? I noticed because I tried UV resin on my white pieces. Thank you
Very helpful. Thanks a lot.
For the LED UV torch how long does it take? Or in the UV light box? How many minutes?
