I had never thought of Morocco as a destination before, especially for train trips. This vid has changed my mind. I remember when we were in The Canaries, you could take a day trip to Morocco. but instead we took a 3 day trip to Madrid., for $100US, hotel and airfare, for both of us. Well, it was the 80's before Spain joined the EU. Thanks for showing us Morocco
I've done Marakech to Casablanca, Casablanca to Kinitra and back on the Al Boraq, and Tangier to Fes and back before they had the high-speed train. I had a wonderful time on Moroccan trains. Great service. Largely on-time. Fun conversations with local people.
Thank you for this interesting video ,I suggest you take the train that connects Casablanca and Oujda or Nador you will see a lot of landscapes from the valleys and fields of the western coast, the tunnels and mountains of the centre and finally the desert and red rocks in the east this is my best trip in Morocco
When I travel at night from Casablanca to Tangier in the train, I always find a chance to open the door and get that feeling of the wind and to see that beautiful night view. I swear to God we literally have the best trains
I did Marrakech to Casablanca and then Casablanca to Rabat and then back to Marrakech last year and was pleasantly surprised with trains in Morocco. Missed out on the Al boraw sadly

Not doors but opening windows you can lean out of can be found on Swiss trains operated by Rhätische Bahnen (RhB) running along mountain routes with beautiful views. So if you're ever in Switzerland, you gotta try them.
Thanks for this amazing video. I had no idea what Morocco was like. I noticed that in all the shots of the stations, towns and local scenery how clean everything looked. Also the train passengers all seemed civilized and calm. ( unlike the current situation in Europe where you see discusting graffiti everywhere, dirt and rubbish, as well as loud, annoying and inconsiderate passengers. This was great to watch.
Beautiful video!I know Morocco very well and I can assure that it has one the best train system in Africa (if not the best)!Since we are in North Africa why not try Algeria and Tunesia?I have never seen videos about railways in these countries and I think that it would be interesting.Thank you again for the video.....Merci pour le partage.
Thank you so much for the trip report. I am so surprised, that in Africa that kind of high speed travel is in service. But please be careful with these open outside doors. As a former conductor I know that they can get a closing impact for some reason and if this happens while driving, the doorshield is clapping hard as hell when it slides against the moving direction. So please take care and make sure, that the door must close in the same direction if you don't want to get hurt or kicked out. Furthermore you should never be outside the train at the departure time. It did happened to me, that the time of closing doors, starting the engine and accelerate took less than one second and so they left without me.
Actually, it's Morocco who influenced Iberia and southern Europe with it's Amazigh building architecture, when Morocco colonized Spain and Portugal for over 800 years. Thanks for the report. Long live our kingdoms
Hi Nonstop Eurotrip, have you been on on any of the long haul Australia trains ie The Ghan, Indian Pacific, Sprit of Queensland, The Overland or XPT: Sydney to Melbourne?
Some great scenic shots. Damned dangerous doors! I started to be impressed by the first-class carriages...then things started to go downhill - the lack of disabled facilities, the poor snack trolley (for a 3-hour journey) and the (almost) unusable toilets. Did you buy the obligatory red hat with tassel in Fes?
you westerners truly have a very unique combination of annoying arrogance and inhuman idiocy, I'm guessing you're British, the inbreeding really did a number on you
I wonder why they don’t close the doors, afaik all Corail/VSE coaches are fitted with centralized door locking by the train manager. Maybe something related to the air circuit or the automatic doors unlocking system (around 5km/h on these coaches) ?
Will the TGV-like trains run this route sometime soon? I wish to travel from Casablanca to Fes, then up north to Tangier. After that, maybe take the boat going to Spain
they have a plan to cover all Morocco, but the casablanca/ marrakech and also agadir/ marrakech lines are the top priority now but to Fes, it's gonna take a while
Best?? I say 2nd best... the best of course is for the exclusive club known as 'drivers'.. hahaha. Another great video and certainly a surprise for the quality of the ride.. Much better than most of the trains here in Australia. Also loved the shots at the end.
@@NonstopEurotrip I read this incredible book called "A Suitable Boy" by Vikram Seth. The story takes place in India and the author goes on and on about how the leather tannery really stank.
The thing with Moroccan trains, is that the lines are not really that many only 2200km of train lines and 320km of high speed train line, in comparison with the size of the country, but more than 80% of the Moroccan population lives along these lines. they are starting work on expanding the high speed lines to 1300km, come back when or if it's finished 😅😅(the 320km costed them 2billions wish is impressive tbh, but idk how they want to expand it to +1000km with only 1 billion of investment so far so idk how they are planing on doing it )
@@NonstopEurotrip yes ofc, but the 20% left are unfortunate for living in mountains and deserts wish makes train lines building there very expensive or/and almost impossible. there are trains in the eastern desert but only for transportation of minerals I think, the tracks get covered with sand very often and they can spend up to 48h shoveling the sand to let the train pass. rip ppl living in the desert
interesting, I was sure that Marrakesh would be the capital, since it has a huge Royal Palace, but then, there are probably multiple residences, one in every major city... in reality, this is a country where the capitals location is not that important, it is a state where the King and his government travels the land, and it is a land of which it can be truly said that "The Capital is where the King is"... they do not sit isolated in one place as it happens in some other countries.
@@NonstopEurotrip Casablanca to me always was a very much colonial city... maybe because of the film and all, I always thought of it sort of a little like Gibraltar (I know there is a different city that actually plays that role). it was always to me much more a city of Europe than a traditional Moroccan city, to the point I was originally quite surprised it was a legally in a status just like any other city.
