Limerick have proved their greatness many times before. Kilkenny are coming but there is a gap to be filled. The cats can do it but they will have to raise their game

Limerick finally back to themselves from that Casey goal saving flick of the hurl to prevent a goal. From there on they were fantastic. So proud of them. Tom Morrissey should be mentioned in the contenders for POTY. Most consistent player this and most years and always goes under the radar. Luimneach Abu. 🇳🇬

Agreed but if and when they put it all together I still don’t think there is a team out there who can compete with them. Considering also they are without Sean Finn for most of the championship and we’re missing our captain and leader against Galway it is a testament to them. Have you heard time and time again about the Clare lads that were missing?? Would have been hard not to because they were winging about it enough. 🙏 the machine will keep on moving forward from here.

It took Limerick 25 minutes to sort out the halfbackline because of the changes forced upon them. They then blew Galway away

  • @AnPucFada

I think Skehill is papering over the cracks, Galway could not press for 70min, it is exactly what happened to Tipp a few years ago. Galway were gassed, no question by 30 min of chasing Limerick working the ball around the pitch , they were imposing their system for 70 min but for the first 30 min Galway countered it until they couldn't chase and close them down any longer.
Stats dont lie , they were ran in to the ground. Limerick simply ground Galway down. you have completely over stated the change shefflin made he knew they need air just as Tipp did in 2021 , very little change took place over all . Sheflin brought a man out as Galway were running out of legs in the middle third. Galway went back to two men inside and it got way worse , look at the stats.
Ryan O'Dwyer is bang on , in the fact Galway were hemorrhaging scores all over the field, couldn't win a ball in the air after 25 min, this was a symptom of having to work too hard to turn over ball, giving tired 50:50 deliveries to a team that beat Galway up a stick in the air as they ran out of legs. Galway didnt lack energy, they simply ran out of energy no team could last doing what they did for 30 min .
You can push up on Limerick , but you need to be as good as them at retaining possession when you do win it or you have to work way too hard to constantly turn over possession, if you cough up the ball as easily as Galway did . Galway don't have many natural ball winners in the air as Limerick , this put them at an immediate disadvantage. Limerick didnt need to run half as much as Galway as they retained the ball and moved the ball so efficiently through the lines. Limerick dont go from end to end with long deliveries , they drag you all over the place sprinting and chasing their short passes. While Limerick are moving at their own pace. The only thing Galway really dictated in the game was how quickly Limerick moved the ball. When they were rushed in the first 30 min Galway were able to turn them over as Limerick hadnt that second to giv that perfect ball, so it was 50:50 and Galway did well, but that constant chasing on one team is exhausting. While Limerick could afford to retain their shape and do what Limerick do.
Body language is symptom , not a cause. Its a reflection on their reality not a cause of any problem. Galways body language by half time was of a team running on fumes , they threw the kitchen sink at Limerick and went in a point up. Limerick had absorbed the best Galway were throwing at them and smiled and kept on rolling forward. With winners its about your ability to take the hits and keep moving forward. Limerick are unflinching in this regard. Galways body language was a symptom of being out on their feet for the last 5 min of the first half , and the knowledge that they had another 35 to play running on empty. Im sure they knew that they had done all the chasing and Limerick were far from empty.
By 50min Galway were out on their feet. Galway simply dont have the personel to challange Limerick in this way for 70 min. Young fresh legs are ultimately what's needed in that squad particularly in the middle third, also better distributors/passers of the ball will take the pressure off Galway and mean they are not constantly chasing Limerick. This style of play is clearly not natural to a few of the Galway middle 8 / 10 .The cold truth of it is Saturday was inevitable based on the numbers alone, No team including limerick could do the amount of running Galway needed to do to compensate for their short comings in possession.

Deffinitly greatest save off all time ..👍👍😵😵🐯🐯✨️✨️thats why the cats are the cats what a reaction good man murph your a true talent👍👍🐯🐯🙏🙏✨️✨️Now for the final..limerick as good as they are close out games the cats will need too match them all over the field..not about k.k's work rate as they now have it down too a fine art hook's blocks tackle's and turn overs are key but also is cleverness they will need too out smart limerick man on man and win ball all over the field have runners off their cuff and just keep their composure for 70 minutes +..it was only a 2 point game last year and if any team can put it up too limerick its kilkenny..👍👍🐯🐯✨️✨️🙏🙏🏆🏆🤟🤟

Kilkenny haven't got the hurlers. Dirt can only get you so far and this Limerick team is just as physical and bigger. With Loughnane and Cody the emphasis is now on fitness, size, physicality, work rate and strength. It's basically rugby with sticks. Nothing much to do with hurling skill. I won't be watching the final as I'm washing my hair but I hope its a better match than last year which was awful. Fouls and frees and TJ Reid. Limerick will win by eight points and then it's on to the 5 in a row.

If a Kilkenny player touched the ball like lawlor did in any other area of the pitch the advantage would be over so why is it different in this situation, if the opposition touches the ball the whistle is always blown for the free

Galway beat a Tipp team who left their hurls on the bus and only won by 2 points.
Then all this nonsense about Galway intensity, work rate, 3 year plan, turning point for Henry etc was trotted out as if they were an up and coming force.
Galway caught carried away with them selves and now after getting hammered by Limerick in 3rd gear we are hearing about a rebuild.....so which is it?
