Take a stroll through Nashville's Japanese Garden at Cheekwood to study the structure, form, and balance that underlies all that you see during the more vibrant months of the year.
The Blevins Japanese Garden at Cheekwood Estate and Gardens is a true treasure of the southeast United States and a must-visit location for any gardener who comes to the Music City. From Cheekwood's website: The garden is named “Shōmu-en,” which translates to “pine-mist forest.” This garden transcends cultures by connecting Eastern garden design with the native Tennessee landscape. The mist in “pine-mist forest” is suggested by the feathered and light-textured flowers of the smoke bush (Cotinus coggyria) that bloom in late summer. The black pines are pruned to appear windswept, with their needles contrasting beautifully with the softness of the Cotinus.

So there are Japanese gardens abroad. The bamboo grove path is so wonderful. The stone garden is also very Japanese and calming.

Yes! The Nashville area is blessed to have a lot of international business from Japanese companies: Nissan, Bridgestone, Mitsubishi, etc. This garden dates to the mid 80s which is the same time of the start of Nissan production in our area. I hope to make another video soon showing how it looks in the springtime. The cherry trees currently look fabulous.
