We used to do deer drives like you and the 1 thing we learned was the really big bucks if you didn't step on them they would lay and let you walk past them then sneak out the back door. We started holding a couple of pushers back and sure enough we started knocking down more big bucks.

Yup. Saw this from afar from a stand. Buck(probably 2 or 3 1/2 year old) pushing a doe, farmer crest the field, the buck got down into cover as the doe kept going. The farmer walked 20ft from this buck and never seen him. As soon as the guy walked past about 150 yards the buck snuck out. The guy never even had a clue that buck was there and the buck was completely aware of the situation. Just amazing.

I like this short form with the video clips added. Helps confirm how I'm understanding what's being said.
One thing that we tried for the first time this year is understanding hunter access and then using other people's movements to determine where we hunt initially (think opening day). We hunted in a low percentage open area simply because it was the most likely escape route based on where people enter the public. Worked out with a literal parade of deer walking by all morning, emptying the woods to avoid the pressure.

Aaron, I'm in northern Minnesota also and have been apart of hundreds of deer drives, I love hunting that way. Unfortunately no one drives deer anymore. If you ever want to get a group together, I could round up a few guys with experience

That wind bump you did in Iowa seemed very successful.

I’m pretty amazed they let y’all do deer drives on public land. Not legal here in Illinois.
