Learn to differentiate the Maranaoan Singkil to its Hispanicized counterpart. Also, bamboo dances of such form are a common sight in almost all Asian dance repertoires. Don't limit its origins to the Southern Philippines nor Southeast Asia alone. And to say that Tagalogs are the sole ethnic group that assimilated themselves to Hispanic customs? Wow, please remember that the Tinikling hails its origins from Leyte. And the only Spanish Creole spoken all througout Asia is considered as the Lingua Franca of the Zamboangueños. Guess what? Zamboanga is located in Mindanao. It's not problematic to attest the native origins of the dance, but one should consider why this dance has this character at present time.
