Im in the middle of this swap on an 89 short box MJ you can pull the shifter out with the 3 screws takes a bit of effort to pull it out. i removed the whole exhaust - the manifold as for the pilot bearing we used one that's called for a CJ7 since we are 4x4 swapping we had to send out the drive shaft to be cut and balanced to 43.25'' as for the cross member we had to use the XJ member and we had to drill out the inner mounting holes and but a nut & bolt. However, we did need to swap the enite clutch set up from internal slave to external master and slave with the line. Test drive should be today
so other than swapping from a 15mm centre bore pilot bearing/bushing....to a 19mm centerbore ....was there any other parts that did not interchange ? Just get a 19mm centrebore pilot busihing and the ax5 and away you go?
did you swap to ax5 or ax15? if ax15 what year did ya get, and did you get new transfer case or swithout the input shaft on your old one? gonna tackle this shortly and would love your info.
