He pushes in the diamond part, and if you do that it lets the front layers swing upward. It's hard to explain through text, but if you take the top and bottom of that section, and push upwards to flatten the diamond part into a horizontal line, that gives you sort of a + shape with the paper which then lets you pivot the front bit upwards.
For reference, I found it doable with 25*25cm double tissue.
(green/green-brown duo work really well)
I did it with 15*15 cm paper
