In the Olympic bronze-medal match, the United States women's national team secured a thrilling 4-3 victory over Australia. This historic game featured standout performances from Megan Rapinoe and Carli Lloyd, both scoring two goals each.
Carli Lloyd made history during the match by becoming the USWNT's all-time leading scorer in Olympic history with 10 goals. Additionally, she became the second-most-capped player in USWNT history, following Kristine Lilly, with an impressive 312 appearances. On the Australian side, Sam Kerr's first-half goal made her the all-time leading scorer for the Matildas, while Caitlin Foord added another goal for Australia.
