I think it would've been cool if they told them who got their start/starred on these shows that they'd probably recognize now. It might've made them realize that these shows didn't just exist in a vacuum before they were born. For instance:

She played Willis's girlfriend, Charlene. She was a recurring character starting in the 3rd season.
Betty White had been around for like 40 years before Golden Girls... Estelle Getty was the only one to really get her start there. Facts of Life also saw the starts of others like Molly Ringwald etc. Janet Jackson actually got her start on Good Times, Alan Thicke was also around a long time before Growing Pains. Just pointing this out :)
Interesting fact, The Facts of Life was a spinoff from Different Strokes. Mrs. Garret was the Drummonds housekeeper and she went on to be the house mother at a private school.

Yes! Though, these kids not knowing the themes to the A-Team would probably make me cry.
I'm pushing late 30's and I don't know the theme to A-Team... I don't think anyway. But I haven't seen much of Knight Rider and never watched Airwolf or Manimal. I loved Quantum Leap, Miami Vice, Magnum P.I., MacGyver and Dukes of Hazzard, though.I think Quantum Leap had a lot of voiceover, though.
Shame on all of them for not knowing The Golden Girls theme song.
To be fair, I grew up on the show and absolutely love it, yet was shocked when I started binging it on Hulu and heard the theme song. But after watching it more and more, I remember it now.

As someone born in 1980, these videos make me feel like a senior citizen shaking his fist at children for walking on his grass.
I was born in the 90s and I knew 6 of them. Stuff like The Golden Girls and Cheers has been re-run on UK TV for years.

How did only one of them know the Golden Girls? I'm 15 and even I recognized that, even if I never watched it. Shame, shame. I never watched the facts of life or cheers but my mom loved them and I've seen bits and pieces of them. I've also heard of Different Strokes, Growing Pains and Family Ties

I rewatched Golden Girls recently and honestly it still holds up as a relevant show for today's youth with issues unfortunately are still prevalent today that they can relate to.
As well as great comedy writing and arguably the greatest female comedy cast for a sitcom ever.
RIP my 80's comedy grandmothers who taught us all how to be sassy in our later years

Growing Pains, Cheers, and Golden Girls were the only 3 song openings I remembered on the list that I actually watched. Golden Girls will always be my favorite sitcom show. I watched like every episode with my mom! Estelle Getty just gets me laughing every time she opens her mouth. She makes the perfect Sophia and fits well in the group of girls, especially her crazy stories. God, I love that woman! I love, (blanche) Rue, (Rose) Betty, and (Dorthy)Bea but I adore Estelle! I'm 29. XD

They did a 90s sitcom themes vid where they had it.
Fun coincidence full house and Star Trek the next generation Started around the same time, with full house starting on September 14th 1987 and TNG starting on September 28th 1987.

That Cheers theme is the extended version that wasn't heard on the TV show itself. So anybody who didn't recognize the Cheers theme song can always blame it on that. :)

I knew the Golden Girls one from Mac and Charlie in Always Sunny singing it to their mothers when they moved in together. I knew the Facts of Life from Ted and his band singing it in Scrubs and I knew the Cheers one from Joey watching it in London in Friends despite never having watched any of those 3 shows.
Definitely opened and closed with the best shows of the bunch!
They're all great, but "Golden Girls" and "Cheers" are both all-time greatest sitcom entries! (Up there with "I Love Lucy," "M*A*S*H," "Arrested Development," etc.)
MASH would have been a good one. Possibly the only theme song that's completely instrumental (though there are words that go with it).
