  • Box-A Observations For Sunday morning . August 4, 2024 7:55am to 8:45am
Bright sunny morning, hot, no wind.
Between the two structures there was only one Purple Martin hanging out nothing else. I set up my camera on Box-A and kept it running for 50 minutes. During my time there it was clear that there is activity going on at almost every box. Lots of coming and going you just have to camp out for a while to see it.
    8:02 No activity
8:13 Female shows up, pokes head inside then leaves.
8:18 Female goes inside with Dragon fly, male leaves.
8:34 Male shows up goes inside then female leaves.
8:35 Male leaves with Fecal sac.
8:36 Male comes back sits on porch for 15secs then leaves.
8:39 Female shows up with small insect, goes inside. Another female follows, pokes head inside then leaves after a minute.
8:42 Male shows up with small insect. Female leaves. Male then goes inside.
8:44 Female shows up with small insect , goes inside then male leaves.
In 50 minutes the chicks were fed 5 times. Chores seem to be split up evenly between the male and the female, swapping out nest roosting and feeding while I was there.
