I think mapping feet is a superior way to go compared to how I was taught over 3 decades ago . Basically we were never taught about external structures being a reference for internal structure . We were taught about internal and external structure but not their relationship to each other so precisely. My issue however is that I’ve seen some apparent qualified elpo farriers set shoes back even when there is no need to do so . Some of these farriers have conditioned ignorant owners to believe that unless they see that shoe set back then they are not getting proper natural balance shoeing .
