So glad you addressed the elephant in the room! We were howling at just the thumbnail! Great hike as always and we always enjoy seeing your stunning scenery! Every time we watch you, we are always ‘Oo we must go there!!’ - loved it x
This hike is a favorite of ours, as the trailhead is just across the street from us. Thanks so much for highlighting it and for your other videos highlighting Garmisch-Partenkirchen. We're glad there are others that enjoy it here just as much as we do!
Yes please. Your tours of many areas have guided my travel choices in Bavaria. I would love a preview of Garmich-Partenkirchen for our next visit to the area.
Thanks so much! Glad to hear it! We're working on it, but it wont be out for a while. In the meantime, check out our Garmisch-Partenkirchen playlist. :)
Did this hike today! really beautiful i loved the meadows at the top. We also got burned a little bit by the 5pm last gondola thing. Wanted to walk down halfway and take the gondola the last part down but didnt make it to the halfway station in time. Should have just flipped it, gondola to middle station walk the rest. Anyway didnt spoil the day or anything, great hike on a perfect day. No snakes even!
Perfect timing I'm traveling to Germany on my two week vacation from my home in Canada in less than 2 weeks (very excited) and staying my first week in Garmisch. The Wank hike looks totally doable. I've also made note a lot of other suggestions from your various videos I've been watching over the last few months. Thanks for doing such a great job, not just showing the areas but also exactly how to get to them.
Thanks to your channel this is the third walk/hike we did after seeying your videos (also Eibsee and Ehrenberg). It was one of the best walks we did. We started early so luckily we could get Schnitzels, beer and cake. Next up Seceda, so i will have to watch your video on that a few times for some inspiration. Keep up the great work. I am hoping you guys will also explore more in Austria and Swiss! I can recommend the 5 seen wanderung in Zermatt, if you are in Swiss.
Thanks so much! ❤️ glad that other people are experiencing our favorite hikes. Do do need to get out more into Austria and Swiss. It just requires so much planning to film. We will at some point!
I never made it to the Wank Haus. It was foggy. But that name is still funny, even after years in Germany. Nice memories and I must go back on a sunny day! See if I complete the Wank experience.
We got to the ZUgspitz and found out it was closed, one of the four days in the year it's shutdown for maintenance. The tourism office suggested Mt. Wank which was a lovely alternative. We took the cable car in both directions.
Quatschkopp! Die Revisionen( Schliessungen)der Bergbahnen belaufen sich übers Jahr gesehen auf mehrere Monate, und nicht ein paar Tage! Typisch Amerika😂! Oberflächlich überheblich ,wie eben die meisten Amis!
Thanks for the video and information. One question: how much of a stomach for heights does one need for this hike? Are there many and/or long stretches with narrow paths and steep slopes? Thanks in advance :)
If I remember correctly, (this was a while ago) the switchback section before the hut does have steep drop offs, but it is very forested, so it doesn't feel precarious. I think the path is also very safe. It's wide and well maintained, so there's no risk of falling.
@@NearFromHome thanks for taking the time to reply! Ok. We'll take our chances. Suffering from slight vertigo but still loving heights and the views is an inconvenient combination 😊
Hi thank you for your videos. I am watching all your videos as I and my friends are planning to hike in Garmisch area in april. This one looks super interesting. Could you suggest some more information- If you have any map for your hiking? How you went from Garmisch to this place - you mentioned the bus but where did you get down.? And do you follow any hiking app ?
Yeah, I often use AllTrails as my hiking app when I’m Garmisch. You can see Wank mountain and it’s cable cars from downtown Garmisch though. It’s looming in plain sight. So you should be able to get to the start relatively easily with google maps and then AllTrails will take over. The bus is unnecessary, we ended up not even bothering and just walking all the way back after the hike.
Probably? If you are wearing good waterproof hiking shoes, and high quality winter gear, you should be fine. I would only try it in winter if you are an experienced hiker though!
I went there today I have to say if you want to hike in the winter you should do it very very early.I don't know if I went to the wrong way or what but I always follow the sign or mayby I was too slow.It was very hard to hike in winter also you will find a lot of snow and ice that can slow you down but I have to say it was my first time hike at the snow mountain but did I upset that I can't summit or not I have to say I won't.
Is it really that important, always to look for THE Best, THE Highest etc. spot? Maybe there are good, but not perfect alternatives nearby? Rememered me, when tourists visits in foreign countries every church and castle.......an at home, the local churches and castles, with even comparabel history..........OK.....they are there......but to visit.......no......
We have to play the TH-cam analytics games. A video titled "a pretty good mountain that you can hike that also is nice if you don't hike a lot" wouldn't do well.

Lolollll. Thanks so much. You know I had to help my British viewers out. :)

Oh no!!! I was worried the whole way down that would happen to us. The absence is snakes more than makes up for the missed gondola imho. 😉

I took the cable car up a few months ago, it was really pretty!
Yeah it really is! It kinda gets overshadowed by the Zugspitze, especially for tourists, but it’s great
Another great video! Was that a Garmisch-Partenkirchen public bus you took to Mt. Wank? Can't wait for your Garmisch video! Keep up the great work!
I believe so, yes. Though as long as you have your Bayern ticket it’ll be included in that fare which is really nice :)
great recommendation again! I almost thought you'll leave us on the edge not showing that snake lol
lololol we wouldn't do that to our fans. :D
This was a great video! Thank you guys!

Hahaha of course. you can't just do a half Wank. :)
@@NearFromHome well now, that depends…
Getting up early and sleeping on the train back to munich is my personal secret for one-day-Hikes.
Same! It's kinda the perfect daytrip

Which month was this? Were hoping to also see some cows
September I think. 🧐 They start bringing the cows off the mountain for the winter around this time.

Was it on purpose that you cut the snake bit both at the beginning and the end of the video?
We saved the snake reveal for the end! Trying to give people a reason to stick around.
1:25 how do you pay for the bus there?
I think we payed for the tickets in cash to the bus driver
Hi do you use some application while hiking?
We use All Trails!
@@NearFromHome Can I have your All Trails profile so maybe I can use your route😊
How long did it take to hike up and down ?
A while. Many hours? It really depends on your fitness level. I would start in the morning, and plan to be gone until the late afternoon.
can you hike this in the winter?

I hate snake too 🤣🤣🤣 but they are called blind snakes if I’m not wrong 🤣🇩🇪✌️
Lol yes! I a friend told us that they are not actually snakes. Still scary :O
Wank Mountain XD
:D
Es heisst " Berg" und nicht Mountain! Wir sind hier immer noch in Deutschland😂
